pgames-food's Food Tips (from 0.6 beta+)
By pgames-food
hi if you have been running out of food, here are some tips that could help:

- collect bit more plastic to help make food
- craft the moo-moo more (since it gives you more calories), but in case chick-chick is up for barter trade, it might be worth making.
- on maps without the quasimorph meter going up, all you need is 1-2 stacks of relatively-free sorbent (or maybe 1 stack of antibiotics), and a sharp blade edge, and you can cook and eat the enemy meats, and smoked lards.
- cooking can work with meats and skins of most humanoids, but if you also can find a metal can (or can bring in 1 stack of 2 canned foods), you can also cook some insect meats like from spiders, into tasty soups.
- you can do the same with quasi-meter maps but will need some quasi-reducing items like cigarettes and whiskeys (but trading with the church faction especially often gives several bottles which is cool) :)
- if you can do some actions without sprinting, it can save on calories
- if you cross a corridor, or crossroads path more than once, to clear out rooms, you can drag/dump stuff on the ground to become lighter in weight, and burn less calories (which also then lets you pick up stuff from the room to bring out for final selections etc) :)
- search all enemies when you can, as they can also have food items on them (especially when there is a stack of them, it can be easy to miss a tab to click on which might be the one hoarding all the food) :lunar2019piginablanket:
- some factions specialise in food trading, (for example Sunlight Coven gave me 5 pop drinks and 5 food items for just 1 stack of 10 armour plates that i had spare, worth 30 in trade) :o)
- something else that might seem obvious, but could happen in a mission, is to eat some food in the heat of battle like when there is still an enemy on the map, but eating it when it would potentially waste some calories, like having 1500 out of 1800 and choosing to eat a moo-moo worth 450 for example, might seem ok in the circumstances of looming battle, but is still actually wasting 150 calories, and is worth bearing in mind just before eating as the wastage can all add up too)

these are things i try to do where possible (even in the heat of battle i still can make some mistakes, but maybe they can help you a bit too :lunar2019piginablanket:

i think i'll post this as a pgames-food, Food Tips page :lunar2019grinningpig:
(this was originally posted to help someone in a thread but as i thought about more food tips it grew so i thought to post here as a guide for others too) :o)

more info for "Luxury Lunches" Container: i found one worth 80 barter, which had 340 worth of items inside: :)

2x Alcohols, 1 Truffle Oil (food + puts fire out), 1 Wagyu steak, 1 Black Caviar, 1 Tuna Steak, 1 Rocket Lollypop

+

"Alcohol Package" was worth 84, and had 3x Alcohols inside (worth 30 in total but each is actually worth keeping for you since you not only get a healing item, with almost 1k calories, but also an empty bottle to get glass from, or to make more alcohol or even Molotovs) :lunar2019piginablanket:

Food crates contain various meals. The content varies depending on the food crate type. E.g. military food crate, along with some canned food, may contain 1800 kk ratios. So, if you find one, prying it open may end up more profitable than bartering it.
Keep your eyes open for them.

- if you equip a cutting tool like a sharp knife, you can cut up the bodies of your enemies, to get a chance of finding some other organic materials. Some of these can help you to make alcoholic drinks like vodka or whiskeys/cognac, and they also provide about 900 calories, as well as other effects like lowering quasimorphisis.

- if you are starting to get low on stored calories, and get a stomach injury, try to heal it with the best medical item that you have (like with a higher % of heal chance), because you wont be able to eat anything until that body part is healed.

- while a stack of 5/5 raw meats will turn mouldy over time (and are needed like that to make antibiotics), a mouldy meat is still edible for some calories in an emergency (but hits you for about -25 hp)

- in addition to being lighter (by carrying less weight), you can also reduce the amount of calories you spend with each action, by using the slowest crouching/sneaking movement mode.

(you only get 1 action point though, so careful if there are enemies nearby)
