Megapartment H6

Megapartment H6 is one of many public housing apartments in Amara. Tall yet narrow, these apartments have made a name for themselves for its cramped living spaces, debauchery and illegal activities committed in the thousands. These places have been dubbed "hellscapes" at times. They are also known for having additional living areas on their rooftops, with questionably gorgeous views.

Another dust storm just hit Amara. The report says it'll take 3 days until it settles. Despite that, the smell of the air is retched. Despite the oxygen pipes, people still have to wear masks just so they don't get sick. The government had recently decided to further cut costs relying only on advertisements to light up areas instead of installing their own lights. At least you've made enough Yendollars to finally move out of Amara.


Back in November of 2023, I was working on a map collaboration with a creator named Trench. The map was a Cyberpunk themed map as well, set on top of a really tall building with a very similar aesthetic to this map. It was a lot of work, to the point I had to postpone the development of Grant Street (which was in dev during this time) to work on it. The map ultimately never got out of pre-production due to personal issues on both sides. I blame part of it on my inexperience with Blender and more advanced mapping techniques. We parted ways soon after in late November. While there were no hard feelings, I was still pretty sad with how many concepts that were just left unused. This haunted me until I had published City Limits, feeling dissatisfied at how lackluster it was.

I wanted to make a Cyberpunk themed map again and revisited the old concept arts and maps made for the collab. It was at this moment I wanted to do the concept justice in my own way. I specifically aimed for it to be the best and most detailed map, visually and lore-wise I've ever made. I gathered what leftover data I had from November created Megapartment. I played with the concept of governments relying solely on advertisements for lighting and gave the ads a purpose instead of just silly decoration. This was also the first map where I integrated diagonal geometry as an actual part of the map instead of a weird one-off piece of geometry. The whole aesthetic in general was inspired by Blade Runner 2049 and other similar media. Set to the tune of several Advisory Circle albums, it took me 13 days to finish this.

This was a really personal project and hopefully this makes up for the lackluster quality of City Limits. I also hope this will make up for our cancelled collab and I hope Trench is fine with it.
