Introduction
Create-a-Warrior
The Empires spin-off series of Dynasty Warriors allows players to create, and customize, their own characters. This includes both appearance, as well as the weapons they use and some of their stats.

Being able to share your own characters, and playing with the characters created by other people is a feature in the base game. Unfortunately, players are limited to sharing only a single Create-a-Warrior character at a time, making it difficult to share all of your creations.

This guide aims to help, by showing how to use a Cheat Engine script to export Create-a-Warrior characters to a text file, allowing other people to import your character using that text file.

Required tools

Exporting a Create-a-Warrior
Before we can export a character, we first need to highlight the character we wish to export. For this guide, we'll be exporting the DLC character Xiang Ji.

Once we have highlighted the character, it's time to alt-tab out of the game, and open our script by double-clicking the DW9Emp_Steam_v1.0.1.1_2024_03_07_CaW_Export_Import.ct file we downloaded.

When Cheat Engine opens it's time to attach it to the game:
(1) Open the Process List
(2) Find the Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires game, and select it.
(3) Hit Open

To open the tool, and start exporting we'll need to:
(4) Start the CAW Editor by ticking the CAW Editor checkbox
(5) Open the tool by ticking the Export / Import checkbox

The Export / Import tool should now open. To export the character:
(6) Switch to the Export tab
(7) Select all of the parts you wish to export, and hit the export button.

Note:
Keep track of where you save the file for future use.
Importing a Create-a-Warrior
In order to import a new character, we'll have to create a blank slate first. So let's start creating a new officer.

Before we can import a character, we'll have to open the tool first. This works the same as when we exported a character, so if you still have the tool open, you can jump straight to importing. Otherwise, follow the instructions above.

With the tool open, it's time to import our character:
(6) Switch to the Import tab
(7) Use the Load from File button to open a file browser.
(8) Find the file you wish to import, for this guide, we'll use the Xiang Ji.caw file we exported earlier.
(9) Hit open

The tool will show the available options for importing. Uncheck any parts you don't wish to include for importing.
(10) Hit import to start importing
(11) Make sure the names shown are what's expected, and hit yes.

If everything went correctly, your blank slate should now be replaced by the imported character.
(12) Hit finish to save your Create-a-Warrior
