Da Lync
This guide is how to use the crampons both efficiently and how to skip some parts that would take longer if you hadn't.

How to get Crampons
So in the beginning if you want to unlock them you have to beat the fundamental map called Old Groves Skelf and once you unlock them, then this guide will help you.

Very basic basics
If you look down at the characters feet while climbing, it will do one of 2 things; 1. Both planted on the wall or 2. 1 or no feet is planted on the wall. If it follows 1 then there will be a symbol on the bottom of the screen, one way you can use this is if you hold forward when the symbol is there, it allows you to rest which can help against some holds.

High Jumps
The second way or the main way you use this is when the symbol is at the bottom of the screen and you press control, your character will make a jump (depending on the crampon you currently have) which will launch you far as long as you let go of the hold. If you combine this with pulling yourself up, then you will launch very far in what ever direction you want. and will be even further boosted if you spam hands allowing for quick easy movement.
Caution
Although it's good for speedrunning, if you use it more than 2 times it will start to lose power and you will eventually not be able to jump very far and the hand method was also nerfed only allowing 2 hands before it also loses power.

Bye
Hope you have a fun time going fast and have fun :)

Ctrl will detach you if you've attached by holding into the wall. Once you've detached, though, you can also just tap it and it should kick off the wall vertically. The effect is fairly small, but noticeable on its own, and very significant when combined with your regular momentum and spacebar usage. If nothing is happening, you're likely dangling over a void where there's no wall to kick against -- either near the bottom of a face, or on a wall with a reverse incline. Anywhere that you can attach to the wall you can kick off of, as well as many more places -- pretty much anywhere that you see your legs touching the wall, and honestly it's even more liberal than that. It's much more effective to boost your upward movement as opposed to slowing your downward movement, though it's good for both.

Are you seeing the icon because what you need to do is hold W on a viable wall and it will latch on (Indicated by the Icon lighting up). For the jump, like the last thing you have to press control on the wall (Feet visibly on it) and boom, the trick will work. (Then again I haven't played for a while so I might be a bit off with it, it could also be the key binds if you have changed them)

I hold down control and it just detaches me from the wall. I tap control and it does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

The symbol at the bottom of the screen is only the indicator for being able to rest. You can press ctrl to jump any time that at least one of your feet is touching the wall -- possibly even more liberal than that. As long as you're not dangling from an underhang, you can generally use ctrl to jump with the crampons.

The 6 allows you to do everything like the 10 point but doesn't jump as high as the 10

what is the diffrence between 6 and 10 point?
Lync  [autore] 1 mar, ore 21:31
Yea since the game added the symbol, it should be easier to know what to do I just created this because I had noticed some people wondering how to use them on some discussions.

Sorry for the hard to read words on the pictures so for the first picture it says "Also Tells" and for the second it is "Was Here"
