Turn all of your mods off and verify game files before going through this guide.

Outside of modding, some of these steps may require the modification of game files and/or system settings. Don't complain about breaking something because you made a change you didn't understand or edited a file incorrectly.

Follow the instructions exactly as outlined in this guide. This section first & the FAQ section second.

Follow this guide at your own risk. What you do on your computer is your responsibility.

Note that this guide is brand new and as a result is fairly empty. As issues are discovered and solutions found, this guide will be updated to reflect those problems and solutions.
B. Frequently Asked Questions - READ ME SECOND
Find your issue or one that's similar and go to the section in this guide that matches the number. Note that it may not be a perfect match
  1. My game is crashing!
  2. My Class Mod Screen UI is all locked, like the Subclass "Classic" for Scout
  3. I Started the game in my Steam Deck and it's just a black screen!

If you are utilizing a high end Intel CPU such as the 13900K, 14900K, or similar models it may be a core boost issue.

Inside of BIOS you will need to disable Intel Core Boost. Preliminary testing indicates that this has eliminated crashing for those that have done it. Also note that this will reduce overall system performance as system controlled overclocks will be disabled.

Then send it to RenG or Stidsholt on Discord or by mail at drgs-support@fundaygames.dk

Please explain as best as possible what you were doing before the crash.

This issue is usually for players that have booted up the game for the first time and/or had a savefile/savedata from the first Demo. Where, you go select your only class available, Scout, and then see the Class Mods listing "Classic", "Recon" and "Sharpshooter", sometimes with some texts displaying "Window Title" as shown in the image.

Two simple fixes that has helped others so far is:

  • Verify Integrity Files by navigating to Steam Libraries, select Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Right click and open up "Properties", select "Installed Files", and finally click on "Verify integrity of game files".
  • Launch the game, select "Settings" and the first Tab, "Gameplay", you'll see a big red and scary looking button named "Delete Save Data". Click on that. Even if your game is completely brand new or your first time touching it.

3.
For some Steam Deck users when launching the game/ in the middle of gaming, the screen goes completely black and usually you can here audio feedback or being able to navigate blindly. So far, there is one solution that has proven to help other user's:

  • Toggle "Disable Frame Limit" on, in Steam Deck menu. Likely the fix, because the main menu (where it says "PRESS [ALMOST] ANY KEY TO CONTINUE") runs at 1fps with the frame limit on.

I think that's more an indication that your cooling system is insufficient for the given boost/OC rather than an issue with hardware interacting with the system. The solution in that case is to purchase a better cooler. The 14900K is advertised as a 125W-254W chip and should be paired to an appropriately capable cooler (although using their wattage values is problematic in and of itself in determining cooling capability since everyone uses their own formula). The issues I've been seeing with high end intel cpu's is crashes while component temperatures are well within spec. This tells me the problem is not thermally related. Disabling core boost in bios has resolved it for some and significantly reduced crashing for others. The core issue causing it has yet to be identified.

I found the following thread on Reddit, where people underclocked CPU (reduced multiplier below x55): https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/159eh1u/comment/kbg9n0v/

It could be another option to try. I reduced multiplier until the temperature was consistently below 100C during stress test. Will see whether it will help.
