Fatalis.  Black Dragon of Calamity.  Besides the other two Black Dragons of Calamity, that is...  one of which we will most likely never meet again...   AND disregarding that there are a Fatalis Subspecies (Crimson Fatalis) and Rare Species (Old Fatalis) that aren't in this game and aren't black...

Honestly, I think Fatalis is kinda crap.  
He just has seniority. The game designers wrote themselves into a corner back at the start of Monster Hunter by putting Fatalis as the one big, bad monster to rule them all...  back when all the monsters had really generic designs.   And since then the monster designs have expanded massively, but they can't retcon Fatty out of the big bad spot, and neither can they meaningfully improve on his design...   SO they just have to pump his numbers up.  
He is like the posterchild for artificial difficulty.  His AI is nothing special.  His damage output is just BIGGER and his defense TANKIER on pure numbers alone.  And now he has magical kill-scenes that you just autodie to if you aren't hiding in special places.

But hey...   soloing Fatalis has generally been the gold standard for Monster Hunter competence...    though I'm not sure that applies any more with the single-player scaling.  It really is a lot easier than it was at release...

ANYWAY....  this is essentially the end of my Monster Hunter World playthrough, and it only took me 3 Months!   The only things I've got left to do are weird little wildlife collection / photography type tasks.  I'll probably dedicate a video to that...  but officially, this is where the series ends.  That is just bonus content.
