General tips
The L4D1 campaigns strategies is basically a textual summary of noskillch's video.

10 tips.

How to deal with the infected.

How to kill a witch.

When playing a map, check for tips in this playlist.

Before closing the saferoom door, if someone has less than 50hp and no valuable equipment, it's better to die. This way, they respawn with 50hp in the next map.

Be careful after killing a tank, as special infected are spawned.

When there is an horde's incoming attack, the best way to defend is in places with the fewest possible entrances, such as rooms without windows. Keep an eye on these places for when an incoming attack occurs.

If possible, walk along walls and fences, jumping over cars and fences, so that zombies cannot attack you from all directions.

It's often good for the tank to appear because if you can leave it behind, you can finish the map calmly since incoming attacks do not occur with the tank. Just be careful with the specials.

If you want to interrupt the AI from healing you, choose your medkit, so it understands that it doesn't need to heal you as you will do it yourself.

The arrival saferoom door is indestructible for tanks, but not the starting saferoom. However, when facing the tank in an emergency, you can try to close yourself inside the starting saferoom and lean against the door, sometimes it works, and the tank cannot break the door.

You can use pills a lot as they appear more on the map than the medkit. And despite pills having a temporary effect, you won't stay with full health for long anyway, saving on the medkit.
L4D1 1 No Mercy
In Fairfield, after a narrow escape from the Infected, the Survivors focus on moving towards a Hospital for evacuation by a passing News 5 helicopter. The Survivors move from an apartment building to a subway station, then a sewer, then Mercy Hospital, before arriving at the "Rooftop Finale".

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 4.

The Apartments

You can cut through by falling on this power box and bouncing off the car to soften the fall.

The Subway

If you're fast enough, you can run to this room to face the first horde from here.

During the Event, you can face the horde in this corner, blowing up the gas cans so that zombies don't get close.

You can take a shortcut by jumping from this window onto the trash bags.

The Sewer

During the Event, just run, leaving the zombies behind. You can still cut a small shortcut by going around this pipe and entering through the window on the other wall.

If a tank appears, just leave it behind.

The Hospital

Throw a pipe bomb or bile bomb in the Event and go back to the saferoom to wait for the horde to finish. If you have bots, you can also wait for the horde in this room, turning [right](imgs/l4d1-1-no-mercy-3-the-hospital-2.jpg) as soon as you call the elevator.

Rooftop Finale

Just stay in this god spot.

L4D1 2 Crash Course
After escaping Fairfield in "No Mercy," the helicopter crashes in an area close to the abandoned highway in "Death Toll." With the pilot having fallen to the Infection, Zoey is forced to kill him mid-flight. Having survived the crash landing intact, the Survivors make their way across alleys to a garage where they find an armored delivery truck on top of a vehicle elevator, just out of reach.

Difficulty: 5. Fun: 1.

The Alleys

In the Event, simply pass through the fire, but you need at least 90hp.

The Truck Depot Finale

With bots, you can fight the horde using the machine gun. When the tank appears, don't kill it, wait for the generator to stop, and try to restart it, keeping a distance from the tank. It's easier to restart the generator against the tank than against the horde.

You can leave gas cans in strategic places like here and here to explode them when the tank passes.

If you're without bots, you can run through the trench¹ and jump on the container², stopping right at the edge³, blocking the only access for special zombies and fighting only with common zombies. Although it doesn't work for the hunter and the jockey, which you have to be careful with.

L4D1 3 Death Toll
The Survivors have finally made it to Riverside. Due to the pathway blocked on the abandoned highway, the Survivors follow the drainage system of Riverside, go to a church, traverse the town of Riverside, and finally arrive at a boathouse on the riverbank. There, the Survivors wait for rescue from a civilian fishing boat.

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 4.

The Turnpike

You can take a shortcut by jumping from the bridge, although you might lose up to 20hp.

The Drains

During the Event, you can go back and wait on top of this ladder.

If the tank appears near the saferoom, climb to this location, and when the tank climbs, jump over it and run to the saferoom.

The Church

Place every gas can you find in the bathroom of the house. During the Event, go back to the bathroom and keep throwing and exploding the gas cans until the horde is finished.

The Town

During the event, throw bile bomb as late as possible, and use the adrenaline to give you time to reach the saferoom.

Boathouse Finale

With bots, you can stay on top of the stairs, and the bots behind you. They take care of your rear, and you prevent anyone from climbing the stairs.

Another place to stay can be on top of this stump. There's no need to kill the common infected; they die on their own. Therefore, it's better to have a sniper to deal with the special infected.

You can also stay on the edge of this window, which is a god spot.

Wait for the boat to approach to make your escape.
L4D1 4 Dead Air
With the Survivors stranded in a large greenhouse full of Infected, they witness a plane fly by overhead. Deciding the best way to escape the city is via the airport, they make their way through a metropolitan area, over rooftops, a construction site, an air station terminal, and finally, a last stand at a Runway Finale. There, the Survivors see a C-130 Hercules plane that has run out of fuel, and needs help refueling.

Difficulty: 2. Fun: 5.

The Greenhouse

Go as fast as possible to avoid the hordes.

The Crane

During the event, everyone goes back inside the apartment with the gas cans and waits in the room down the stairs, exploding the gas cans so that zombies don't get close.

The Construction Site

During the event, everyone waits on the scaffold¹. You can also wait on the edge of the window², being cautious of the smoker.

After the event, if a tank appears, just leave it behind.

The Terminal

In the first event, when activating the van, you can go back to the escalator and wait for the horde in the room on the left.

Alternatively, with a gas can, advance in front of the van, wait at the fence, and explode the gas can in that area², so that zombies don't get close. As soon as the fence breaks, run.

In the second event, throw bile bomb as late as possible, and use the adrenaline to give you time to reach the saferoom.

Runway Finale

Crouch in front of the wheel, which is a god spot. Wait for the plane to open its cargo door to escape.

L4D1 5 Blood Harvest
Lost in the middle of a thick forest, the Survivors follow the path to a trainyard, and through a repair warehouse. Following the railway lines, they move past a bridge, a train station, and finally to a "Farmhouse Finale". With nobody in sight, the Survivors call via a radio to the military, and from there, wait for an armored personnel carrier to pick them up. But in the meantime, the Infected have discovered their location...

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 2.

The Woods

If you're fast enough, you can hide from hordes in the room of this house.

You can go on top of these fences to avoid the zombies.

The Tunnel

You can activate the door and wait on top of the beam.

Alternatively, activate the door, go up the stairs to the right of the door, and take a shortcut by jumping from this window to the wagon.

If a tank appears, just leave it behind.

The Bridge

You can wait for the first horde from here.

You can wait for the second horde inside this room.

During the Event, as soon as you release the wagon, run towards the bridge and wait for it to collapse to climb on it. No need to throw bile bomb; at most, use an adrenaline to go faster once you climb the bridge, just be cautious of the specials spawning ahead.

The Train Station

Just run, leaving the tank and everyone behind. At the beginning, you can go along the fence on the right. On the bridge leading to the saferoom, it's good to throw a pipe bomb or bile bomb because many zombies spawn from inside the saferoom.

Farmhouse Finale

You can advance, and as soon as the first horde starts, go back to the saferoom. But if you're fast enough, you can run until you reach the house. A good path is when you reach the tractor, go to their right, jumping the fences.

Safe on this edge next to the window, but not underneath the window. And you need to have a pistol, preferably a deagle, so you don't have to leave here to get ammunition. Just be careful with the rocks that the tank can throw.

L4D1 6 The Sacrifice
The aftermath of "Blood Harvest" and the comic are told in "The Sacrifice". The Survivors arrive in a shipyard by train and must battle their way through constant hordes, an imprisoned Tank, and some rather bothersome birds in hopes of finding a working sailboat. Unfortunately, the almost flawless plan to raise the bridge and escape the largest horde anyone has ever witnessed goes awry after one of the generators malfunctions. In order to save the others, one of the Survivors must sacrifice themselves so that the others may proceed. Canonically, this Survivor is Bill, but in the campaign, anyone may do so. The campaign was also released at the same time for Left 4 Dead 2.

Difficulty: 5. Fun: 5.

The Docks

Leave a gas can at the door where the tank is. To face the hordes without the tank, you can use this glitch to jump backward and to the right before interacting with the gate. Once you open it, go back along the wall. This way, you won't trigger the tank. Then, just face the horde inside this room. After the horde finishes, fight the tank by exploding the gas can left at the door.

The Barge

Throw bile bomb during the Event. If you have bots or others with you, wait inside the conveyor until the horde is over, with each person watching an exit from the conveyor.

Port Finale

Only with bots, it seems impossible for me because the horde and the tank come at the same time. But you can try staying on the edge of this ledge, as the horde can only access from one direction, but be careful with the specials.

L4D1 7 The Last Stand
A non-canon one-map campaign only available for survival mode involving a lighthouse setting. It consists of a what-if scenario involving the survivors reaching a dead end with no way back. An expanded remake of the campaign, no longer exclusive to survival mode, was later released for Left 4 Dead 2.

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 5.

The Junkyard

If you're with players, each one can stay at a generator, and as soon as the generators stop, you all turn them on together.

Lighthouse Finale

If you're with players, each one can stay on each access point for zombies to the lighthouse, which are the ladder and the pipe.
L4D2 1 Dead Center
In Savannah, Georgia, four complete strangers find themselves caught up in the chaos of a recent outbreak of the deadly Infection currently sweeping across the United States. Just missing the last evacuation helicopter, they are forced to band together and head to the next known evacuation center at the mall. The Survivors shoot their way down through a burning hotel and through the Infected-swarmed city streets to a nearby shopping mall, where they find it overridden with zombies. With no other alternatives, they hope to use a famous race car being exhibited there to make their escape.

Difficulty: 5. Fun: 4.

The Hotel

Throw bile bomb during the Event.

The Streets

During the Event, if you're with players, someone can explode a gas can or molotov at the store door as soon as you enter to prevent zombies from entering. Before leaving the store, throw the bile bomb. If you're alone, just throw the bile bomb before entering the store, but you need to be faster. You can throw the cola over the wall and climb onto the van. If you want to wait for the horde to finish, stay in the first room up the stairs that brings the cola to Whitaker.

The Mall

Throw the bile bomb during the Event.

Atrium Finale

First, throw all gas cans on the ground from the upper floors, then take them all simultaneously, throwing them near the car. Then, fill them all at once using adrenaline. To give you time to take the gas cans, throw bile bomb, which spawns near one of the gas cans.
L4D2 2 The Passing
After escaping the mall in "Dead Center," the Survivors are stopped by a raised bridge. They encounter the Left 4 Dead Survivors taking shelter on the bridge, who inform the new Survivors that they will lower the bridge if the generator is refilled with gasoline. The Survivors make their way through the streets and buildings, past an interrupted wedding ceremony, through some sewers, and to the generator, where they discover that one of the Survivors at the bridge (Bill) has passed away. With combined effort from everyone, the generator is filled, and the Survivors were able to lower the bridge to continue their adventure onwards in their stolen race car.

Difficulty: 5. Fun: 5.

The Riverbank

If a tank appears, just leave it behind.

The Underground

Throw bile bomb during the Event, especially after opening the second gate, as the first gate is easier to pass without throwing bile bomb.

The Port

If you're with players, you can do this glitch of rapidly toggling the "away_from_keyboard" mode while descending the elevator. This way, the hordes are not activated, and you can take all the gas cans to the generator. However, you can only pour the first gas can after interacting with the elevator, or else the game falls into an infinite loop, and you can't finish the map.

When the tank appears, it's good to face it within the sight of the Left 4 Dead 1 cast, as they help to bring down the tank quickly.
L4D2 3 Dark Carnival
Upon finding the freeway out of Savannah blocked by abandoned cars, the Survivors were forced to leave their vehicle and make their way on foot to the nearby Whispering Oaks amusement park, still partially operational and crawling with Infected. As a patrolling rescue helicopter circles overhead, the Survivors must make their way down the park's midway, through the Tunnel of Love, over the tracks of a rollercoaster, and past the exhibition barns to reach the park's stadium, where the pyrotechnics display of a rock concert stage provides them with their only means of signaling the chopper pilot for help.

Difficulty: 5. Fun: 5.

The Highway

At the beginning, to avoid direct confrontation, go jumping over the cars.

The Fairgrounds

During the Event, you can climb the ledge on the left corner, which is safer. No need to throw bile bomb, a pipe bomb is enough.

The Coaster

It's recommended to have a melee weapon to clear the way through the roller coaster. If there are many zombies, you can wait in the booth where you turn off the roller coaster. Zombies can only access it from the front, allowing you to clear the area and reach the saferoom more safely.

The Barns

If you want to proceed cautiously, at the beginning, go to the right and take cover near the bathrooms to clear the area before moving on.

The bumper cars area is a great place to face potential hordes.

If there's no way to kill the witch, you can provoke her and lock yourself in this bathroom, and someone outside can kill her.

During the Event, when opening the gates, throw bile bomb, or a pipe bomb if you don't have bile bomb. It's recommended to have a melee weapon to clear the way. If you're only with bots, it's better to throw the pipe bomb after advancing as much as you can, as its duration is shorter. With bots, you can also throw a molotov up front, where the zombies fall, so they don't reach you, and the bots have time to catch up, as they are slow.

The Concert

If you're with players, everyone just needs to stay on the edge of the railing of the highest scaffold, so zombies can't climb up to where you are. Just be attentive to the smoker, as he can pull someone from there. If you're with bots, you can stay at the soundboard, as the bots don't climb to the top of the scaffold. And on the soundboard, zombies only access from the sides, one you handle, and the other the bots handle.

L4D2 4 Swamp Fever
Unfortunately for the Survivors, the helicopter pilot that rescued them from Whispering Oaks succumbed to the Infection, and they are forced to kill him and crash-land the chopper in the Mississippi bayou. Finding evidence that rescue may be waiting deeper in the swamp, the Survivors must trek through an abandoned alligator farm, an airliner crash site, and a ramshackle shantytown where the local swampfolk made their last stand against the Infected. Eventually, they reach a giant plantation house, where they must hold off the relentless hordes of Infected until a kindly skipper named Virgil arrives with a rescue boat to take them to a rumored safe zone in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Difficulty: 3. Fun: 3.

Plank Country

During the Event, simply run back to this warehouse and stay up here or go to this cabin and stay on the ladder, blocking the zombies' ascent. Wait for the horde to finish before leaving.

The Swamp

During the Event, two options: if you have bile bomb, throw it and run, otherwise, you can wait near the cabin before the plane, as the zombies come from only one direction. Just wait for the horde to finish. If a tank appears, use adrenaline to move quickly over the water and just leave it behind.

Shanty Town

During the Event, throw bile bomb or pipe bomb. If a tank appears, use adrenaline to move quickly over the water and just leave it behind.

The Plantation

Everyone stay on the stairs in the left corner of the house, exploding the gas cans on the ground so the zombies won't get close. You don't need a melee weapon much, so if you find a deagle, you can stick with it. Someone can even stay a bit lower on the stairs to serve as bait for the Spitter, thus avoiding her to spit on top of the stairs. Wait for the tank to arrive to throw the molotov at him. If something goes wrong, especially with the bots, you can still throw bile bomb, usually spawned on the shelf in the central room, to regroup. But it's advisable to leave at least one bile bomb to distract the zombies when escaping.

L4D2 5 Hard Rain
As the evening sun begins to set, the Survivors learn that their rescue boat doesn't have enough fuel to reach New Orleans. Virgil drops them off in the derelict town of Ducatel, Mississippi to look for more fuel. Their situation is further complicated by forgetting to bring signal flares to indicate that they have retrieved the fuel, as well as the sudden onset of a torrential downpour, the first sign of an incoming hurricane. The Survivors must move through the suburban streets teeming with Infected and a half-demolished, Witch-infested sugar mill to reach a gas station. After obtaining the fuel, they must then make their way back through the sugar mill and the town, both now flooded by the storm, to return to the dock, signal Virgil with the illuminated sign from a nearby Burger Tank, and escape before the full force of the storm hits them.

Difficulty: 3. Fun: 4.

The Milltown

Just run, especially if a tank appears. If you find a bile bomb, save it for the next map.

The Sugar Mill

I like to throw the bile bomb right at the beginning to dash forward and advance a good portion of the map. If the tank appears near the elevator building, an option to defeat it is to climb this ladder and shoot at it from a distance. By the way, during the Event, you can either stay on the edge of the ladder, preventing the zombies from reaching you, or stay in the alley to the right of the elevator entrance since this Event is not that difficult.

Mill Escape

Learn the shortcut of the map to go over it, avoiding the water that slows you down.

Return to Town

You can also take a shortcut over the roofs of the houses.

Town Escape

You can stay on the edge of the air conditioner. As soon as you hear the tank approaching, replenish your ammunition and fight it on the roof, where you can shoot from a good distance and have space to dodge its throws. In this map, it's better to use a deagle.

Alternatively, if you are alone or with bots, you can also jump through the coffee maker¹ onto this soda machine², and stay on the edge, preventing the zombies from reaching you. Just be careful with the specials, especially the smoker.

Wait for the boat to approach to escape to it.
L4D2 6 The Parish
Virgil, who rescued the Survivors in "Swamp Fever" and "Hard Rain", leaves them in New Orleans as he goes in search of more Survivors. The Survivors find the city completely overrun by the Infected. They have to make their way through the streets of the French Quarter, the military's abandoned quarantine zone, and an aboveground cemetery until they finally arrive at a partially collapsed table bridge. On the other side is a military helicopter waiting to take the Survivors out of the city to a flotilla of military-commandeered cruise ships in the Gulf of Mexico, where the last remnants of humanity in the area have regrouped, safe in the knowledge that the Infected can't swim.

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 4.

The Waterfront

No secrets.

The Park

Under this canopy, there's usually a medkit.

If you have a bile bomb for the Event, even better, but it can be done without. Until the door opens after turning off the alarm, you can wait in this corner of the fence. If you have the patience and don't want to take risks, you can wait until the horde is finished.

The Cemetery

In the parking lot, just don't shoot or touch the red cars, which have alarms, to avoid complicating your life.

The Quarter

During the Event, everyone waits in this corner, exploding the gas cans at both entrances so the zombies don't get close. You can wait until the horde is finished, if you have the patience and don't want to take risks, or as soon as you can jump to the other apartment, start running.

The Bridge

The best path is to go to the right, jumping over the vehicles and climbing the fuel truck's ladder, thus avoiding the zombies. Try to leave the tank behind. You can climb to the top of the bridge here, which is safer. Then jump on top of this vehicle to soften the fall, and finally, take a shortcut by jumping over this wall.

L4D2 7 Cold Stream
A DLC Pack which includes a non-canon campaign developed with assistance from the fan community, as well as ported versions of "Death Toll", "Dead Air", "Blood Harvest" and "Crash Course".

Difficulty: 4. Fun: 4.

Alpine Creek

During the Event, as soon as the gate opens, you can wait on this log to limit zombie access only from the ends.

South Pine Stream

Once the ground starts shaking, go back near the saferoom to fight the tank from a distance. Sometimes, due to the distance, the tank despawn without the need to fight.

To the left of this hill, there's usually a medkit or some other accessory.

Here, there's always a laser sight.

During the Event, try to throw the bile bomb as late as possible. It's very difficult to win with bots as they don't accompany you and lag behind.

Memorial Bridge

If you don't want to take risks, when the car alarms go off, you can go back to this warehouse.

Cut-throat Creek

After opening the gate, try to throw the bile bomb as late as possible. Try to leave the tank behind. You can dodge it by going around this rock.
