Flying Friends
There are four flying friends to be discovered in the Summer Sun update and three in the new Breezy Autumn update. All can be worn as a form of cosmetic on the head or face.

The flying shark can be found via a rare drop after killing an Alpha Shark on the Island Reef or from a very rare drop on a sparkle fish when the bountiful wish is selected. Equip it by placing the shark egg into head or face slot.

The magpie can be found via a rare drop after killing magpies or trapping and delivering them to an animal collection point. They also can be awarded from a gacha machine in rare instances. Equip the maggie egg by placing the egg into head or face slot.

The butterfly can be found via an uncommon find in a chest on the Island Reef. Look for "Butterfly Perfume," it should look like a small blue bottle. Equip the butterfly by placing the butterfly perfume into head or face slot.

The fly is the easiest to get. You simply pick up roo poo and place it in head or face slot.

The Breezy Autumn release has three new flying friends.

The first is the meteor, found inside every meteor that crashes to the ground during mostly autumn or winter nights, placing it on your head gives you a flaming meteor.

The second is the honey comb, a rare drop from sparkling bugs that result from the bountiful wish being selected at the Wishing Fountain. Placing on your head gives you the bee friend.

The last is the clown fish, acquired by placing fish roe on your head. Fish roe can be acquired from fish ponds or from drops after you catch sparkling fish that appear after the bountiful wish is selected at the Wishing Fountain

Silly Non-Hat Hats!
While the game makes it generally clear what is meant to be an actual hat, there are several non-hat items that can be worn as a hat.

The Cooked Blob Fish can be worn on your head as an empty fish bowl

The traffic cone can turn you into a cone head

The milking can gives you as pretend helmet. This is also a milestone.

Per Best Fox Ever's suggestion, you can also wear the ear hats as headphones

And then there's this. Um...is this some sort of weird aussie humor revolving around BBQs?

Maybe the Headphones could be also listed as non-hat hats. You can wear those Headphones that you can find underground.

This is great. Thanks!
