[SRN] Adrasta Class Cruiser

The thirteen ships of the Adrasta class forms the backbone of the small Sirius Republic Navy. Its balance of firepower, mobility and armour have made these aging vessels vital in protecting the system from the proliferating rogue drone armadas and pirate incursions. Combined by the versatility offered by their large crew area, planetary flight and two landing pads, these cruisers have made themselves indispensible to the navy for several decades.

The ship can be divided in three rough sections. The heavily built prow houses the ships two railguns, two turrets and their magazines, and the main upwards thruster. Amidships are the crew areas, medical bay, and bridge. Aft, imbeded between the two nacelles, is the main engineering space. The nacelles themselves house much of the ships thrusters and the remaining weapons.

The turret layout is optimized for forwards fire. Powerful upwards thrust allows the ship to perform evasive manouvers to avoid most fire at medium ranges. If supplemented with two fighters, the Adrasta can easily dominate any pirate or drone force, and is a match to most regional navies. However, if left alone, the cruiser struggles to destroy incoming fighters, and the ships are notorious for their fuel requirements during planetary flight or combat.
