Even before the invasion Al Dillon fought an alien - his unit was attacked by invisible outworld attacker during their covert operation in Guatemala. Most of his teammates died one-by-one, protecting the civilians they rescued, but survivors got to the helicopter and escaped.
Joining the Xcom to pay the aliens back was a no-brainer.

This voicepack use pretty much same lines as MKX Jax Briggs voicepack, so you probably shouldn't use them in same squad.

To be completely ironic, you should make this guy Carl's bondsmate.

To run mods I suggest using Alternative Mod Launcher[github.com].

Also highly recommended to subscribe to Voice Patcher so more attacks will get audio.
