Intro
Prey: Typhon Hunter is a multiplayer game that puts you either in the shoes of Morgan Yu or the tentacles of a mimic in what is essentially Prop Hunt. Morgan must kill all of the mimics to win a match, while the mimics but try their best to hide and survive. No one really plays this game nowadays, but in the off chance you are interested in playing, the guide below will tell you how to play and how to achieve all achievements.
Start Screen
Whether you’re playing a quick match or setting up a game with friends, all players will move to a simulator start screen where you can choose to play as either Morgan or a mimic. Only one player can be Morgan; if more than one player wants to be Morgan, or no one wants to be Morgan, than the computer will randomly selection someone to play him. If you are hosting, you can speed the selection process up by pressing “enter.”
Morgan Gameplay
In my opinion, the game heavily skews towards Morgan. The Morgan player must wait 30 seconds whilst the mimics find somewhere to hide. Once Morgan spawns in, you must kill all five mimics to win the round within five minutes. Morgan is armed with a wrench, which takes two hits to kill a mimic, but you can also pick up pistols scattered around the map. Each pistol has five rounds, but you can carry eight rounds maximum. The pistol replaces the wrench until you trade it for a wrench again, meaning you lose your unlimited melee attack, however the pistol is accurate at short range and can kill mimics in three hits, allowing you to take them down from a range.

Morgan can sprint for up to five seconds, and his sprint takes five more seconds to recharge. Use this ability to chase down mimics that try to flee from you. At the 3:00 and 1:00 minute mark, a psychoscope will appear randomly on the map. The psychoscope reveals all mimics visually for ten seconds; use them wisely to pick out the mimics and kill them. I suggest focusing on any group or cluster of them that appear nearby. In addition, a small beep sound will start when you walk near a hidden mimic; listen up for it to know that a mimic is hidden nearby.

When playing Morgan, don’t stop or stand in one place for longer than a few seconds, otherwise a mimic may leap at you. Instead, patrol through the map and look for any oddly placed items. AI mimics will hide in generally obvious places and duplicate large items like boxes or chairs, making them easy to spot and kill. When playing with both AI and humans, prioritize the AI and finish off the humans later. Good human players will hide in the nooks and crannies, look for bottles, cups, or boxes underneath desks, chairs, or in corners. Don’t smack items to test if they are mimics, press “F” to pick them up, and if they are mimics they will be revealed. Pressing “F” is much faster and more efficient than shooting or smacking suspected mimics. Mimics also make a lot of noise when hiding or moving, use this to your advantage to seek out mimics when they move. Also keep an eye out for new or moved objects; they are probably a mimic.

Overall, the key to playing Morgan is to watch for suspicious items, test everything you can see, and keep moving. This keeps mimics on their toes. Likewise, don’t always walk in a circle, reverse your path every once in a while to confuse the mimic players and catch them by surprise.
Mimic Gameplay
There can be up to five mimics in one match. Mimics have it hard; you have no regular attack and must hide to avoid Morgan, but Morgan has various ways he can seek you out and kill you. Mimics can hide as anything small; boxes, chairs, globes, cups, etc. When not hiding, a mimic is vulnerable and has no attack. Mimics can move at a pace similar to Morgan, but they can sprint as well. Mimics have limited psychic energy that slowly recharges. Mimics can hide for 90 seconds or sprint for ten seconds when fully charged. To instantly recharge your energy, find an orange, glowing orb and touch it. When hidden, mimics can kill Morgan if he stays within your vicinity for five seconds. Mimics can move has hidden objects as well to get a better angle. If Morgan is killed, it will buy the mimics 10 seconds to find another place to hide. Mimics always have their player’s name displayed above them; as a result, it’s almost impossible to hide when not mimicking an object,

You have 30 seconds to hide at the start of a match; find an initial hiding place that is out of the way and not too obvious. How well you must hide is dependent on the Morgan player. A good Morgan player can find you relatively easily no matter where you hide, which forces you to go on the offensive and try to kill him. A weaker player will miss the less obvious spots. The best places to hide are in corners, underneath desks, chairs, or tables, and you should hide as small objects. Avoid hiding as anything large or obvious, like a box. It’s also a good idea to hide as paperwork or bottles on desks or tables. This allows you kill Morgan more easily if he’s in your area. Hide in places near where orange energy orbs spawn. If Morgan is killed or moves away from you, you can quickly grab it, recharge your energy, and then resume hiding. If Morgan grabs a psychoscope, prepare to start running. If one spawns near you, try to move away from it and ensure you have high energy so you can sprint away from him.

Overall, the key to playing a mimic is to hide somewhere out of the way or in at an angle that makes it easier to kill Morgan (he has unlimited lives, by the way). Stay away from other mimics and always keep an eye out for energy orbs.
Maps
There are three maps in this game; the simulator room, Morgan’s office, and the Yellow Tulip. Both have a similar layout to their base-game counterparts and are designed in a similar fashion. All three consist of a main “hub” area with several hallways surrounding them.

Simulation Lab: The sim lab consists of Morgan’s apartment, monitoring area, and apartment hallway. The apartment is sparse in the middle, but there are plenty of areas to hide around the kitchen and in the crowded monitoring area. Find a corner and hide there as a mimic, or search those areas as Morgan. The map is fairly open, which means a Morgan player can monitor much of the map at once. Mimics should move back and forth between the side rooms and halls and the main area when avoiding Morgan.

Morgan’s Office: Morgan’s office consists of his main office, his assistant’s office, and the Looking Glass maintenance area that wraps around and connects these rooms. Morgan’s office has plenty of open space and hiding places in the middle, but the looking glass allows players to peek through it, so Morgan players should keep an eye on it for mimics, while mimics can use it to monitor where Morgan is going through the maintenance hallway.

The Yellow Tulip: This map consists of the main nightclub and an auxiliary hallway that connects both ends. Mimics should primarily hide somewhere in the club. There are plenty of bottles and cups to mimic with lots of corners to hide in. The side hall is too small and vulnerable for a mimic, but allows Morgan to quickly traverse the entire club.
Achievements
While some of the achievements can be obtained alone against the AI, others can only be boosted at this point. There are ten total.

The Fixer: Win a match as Morgan using only the wrench: This one is easy and can be done solo; simply start up a game, find the AI mimics, and kill them without picking up a pistol.

Ready or Not (Here I Come): Kill a mimic within 15 seconds of match start: This can be done easily in solo; simply start as Morgan and seek out a mimic. AI mimics hide in obvious spots, so after a few matches you can tell if a mimic hides as a box or chair somewhere. Rush to it and kill the mimic to earn this.

Not a Mimic: Pick up 50 unique objects that are not mimics: This can be earned solo; just pick up any object you see and drop it quickly. You can earn this after two rounds, and the Yellow Tulip has the most unique objects to pick up.

Overexposed: Kill three mimics within 20 seconds after picking up the psychoscope: This can be earned solo; don’t kill anything until the psychoscope spawns. Watch where the mimics move to and then pick up the scope. Use a wrench to quickly kill the mimics you saw before; lots of them gather in Morgan’s apartment when played by the AI, making this fairly easy.

The Hunter: Win 50 matches as Morgan: This can be done solo; simply win 50 matches as Morgan against the AI. This is best done in tandem with another player when getting “The Hunted” for more efficiency.

Coup De Grace: Kill Morgan as the time expires: This is harder to get without boosting. You must kill Morgan as a mimic as the timer reaches zero, meaning you must survive up to that point and also be close enough to Morgan whilst hidden to kill him. While it can be done legitimately, this is best done boosted.

Careful What Yu Pick Up: Kill Morgan when mimicking a weapon: This is fairly easy; mimic any weapon (preferable a wrench) and sit somewhere on top of a bench or desk. When Morgan comes nearby, kill him.

Caffeine Free: Survive a match without mimicking anything: This is hard to do without boosting; you can’t mimic anything and must live the entire match. The best way to do this legitimately is to have your mimic friends form a mimic pyramid, allowing you jump of light fixtures or other tall objects where Morgan can’t reach you or shoot you. This can be done in the Sim Lab on top of some of the light fixtures, but this is best done boosted.

Yu Can’t Find Me: Mimic 50 unique objects: This is easily done; simply mimic 50 unique objects. This typically requires multiple games and is best done boosted.

The Hunted: Survive 50 matches as a mimic: The most tedious achievement, this is best done boosted. Simply start up a match with one friend at least, then stay AFK to gather wins as a mimic. It can be done more efficiently with more players.

It is not possible to let the AI play Morgan... You need at least 2 real player.

Can I play as mimic and let the AI control Morgan?
