Customizing background color from sliders

Go to Avatar and Background Chooser on the menu on the right. Select Background Custom Picture
Go to Background Customization on the menu on the right
Select Light Tuning tab, click Dsky Color. Select a color with Color Picker or sliders

Customize background image in 10 steps

Choose an image file that you want to set it as a background in FaceRig. IMPORTANT: the supported formats are JPG/TGA/DDS for DirectX 9 and TGA/DDS for DirectX11. If you want to set a uniform color, create a image file colored in your desired color (with bucket tool for example) with a size of 64x64 pixels. The supported image formats are: JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TGA, DDS.
Make sure the path and filename do not contain any whitespaces. If your image file is JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, you can skip to next step. If your image file is TGA or DDS, FaceRig needs the image files to be placed in some custom paths: \Documents\Holotech\FaceRig\AdditionalData\Backgrounds, or in your FaceRig install directory at this path: FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_CustomData\ FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC\ (for running on dx9) and FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_dx11\ (for running on dx11). You can create a folder here, let's say.. CustomBackgrounds. So, copy your image file in FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_CustomData\ \CustomBackgrounds\mybackground.tga FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC\CustomBackgrounds\mybackground.tga (on dx9) and FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_dx11\CustomBackgrounds\mybackground.tga (on dx11).
Open FaceRig
Go to the right side menu bar and click on Environments
Select Background Custom Picture and load it
Go to the Customization tab
Inside the Customization tab, go to Backdrop
Select Custom 2d Backdrop from the list and click the Browse button
From the open file dialog, select the image file you saved earlier.
Congrats! You loaded your picture on the background! Play more with your background by moving 2D picture translate and 2D picture scale sliders
If you want your picture to be set by default on Background Custom Picture you must have the Autosave feature switched on in General Options > Preferences > General.

Adding a new background item in Environments gallery

!NOTE! For this method you need to have FaceRig installed in a path without whitespaces. You can change this by creating a new Steam Library in a path without whitespaces and install FaceRig there.
Go to [FaceRig_install_folder]\Bin\Tools\ImportWizardNew\. Run ImportWizard.exe
Choose Backgrounds Importer
Fill all fields with the info needed
- The background name text should not contain any whitespaces
- The background icon should be a PNG file with a dimension of 256x256
Click Import. If no error is reported your item should be found in Environments gallery after FaceRig restart.

TRASH guide. Doesn't explain how to do it with latest UI.

I finally figured it out, It's super easy now!

Just pick the custom background option under Environments, and then upload your pic. Obvi under Advanced UI, I can't imagine using Facerig without that toggled.

HOWEVER. The photo will come out blurry af, no matter the resolution, thanks to whatever crap reason Facerig felt was appropriate. Which I don't understand, and very much am annoyed by, because it shouldn't be difficult to set a WALLPAPER at the resolution that it is! Or smaller, if the photo is larger than desktop resolution.

I want to use these characters for youtube (yes I've got Pro), but the backgrounds are too low quality imo

For those not seeing custom background it's not your fault. These people have no clue how to explain things properly and it's a problem with UI design by the devs.

First make sure you are in Advance UI mode. You can do that by clicking the Ui icon at the top of the program. Click Environments which is the second icon down on the right, this will open the "Gallery". click on the arrow next to FaceRig Backgrounds if it's not already expanded. The option to add custom backgrounds is apparently a background selection. It's the second row down, third one across. Click that. It will now say your selection is Background Custom Picture.

Now you can follow the rest of the directions posted above. Unbelievable.

For those people not seeing "Select Background Custom Picture" option, you are probably not selecting the "Background Custom Picture" environment. It is the one that looks like a rectangle! Hope this helps.

Still don´t get this: " If your image file is JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, you can skip to next step." what is next step? Open FaceRig?
It is still necessary to resize jpg picture to some measures like 1280/720 or not anymore?

Sorry If I don´t get it, but this part: "Make sure the path and filename do not contain any whitespaces. etc...etc.."
Is huge mess, and I have no idea where I need to put my background picture in jpg format:) I did it once year ago, but forget how...

I tried to put file here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_dx11
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC
or
C:\Users\Marián\Documents\Holotech\FaceRig\AdditionalData\Backgrounds

But none of them appear in Environments gallery. Thanks a lot of respond:)

Hi, i use FaceRig with german language. I cat find any option "Select Background Custom Picture" inside Environments. I wand to try change the background too. Which template or pictures is the Cutom Picture?
