Pink/Purple Cube Hints

This is for people who only want hints (reveal as desired) as to where the pink/purple cubes are, rather than having the whole method spoiled for them.

General Areas
This guide deals with the 13 obtainable purple cubes. First will be an overview map with some outlined areas and numbers indicating how many cubes you can find in those areas. Following will be revealable hints for each specific cube. They are ordered in the approximate order that you might encounter them when playing through the game initially. At the end is the game map with numbers indicating the location of all 13 cubes individually.

If you have absolutely no clue what's going on, start with Cube 4's hints/location.

Note that one of the cubes is only obtainable prior to solving certain puzzles. If you have significantly played the game, you will need to start a new game to obtain it. The other 12 remain obtainable once you have reached the connected areas.

Top center: Cubes 2, 9, and 11
Top right: Cubes 3, 8, and 12
Left center: Cubes 4 and 5

Bottom left: Cubes 6, 7, and 10

Special hint: This cube must be obtained BEFORE reaching Taking Baby Steps, A Game Of Leap Frog, Three Paths In Sight, or Skinning A Cat.

Required gun: None

Location hint: What would happen if you got to a location way sooner than you had any business being there?

Method hint: Familiar surroundings sometimes imply similar methods.

Required gun: None
Location hint: Occasionally something helpful is also masking something else.
Method hint: Do you understand the rules of Leap Of Faith?
Closest map point: Taking Baby Steps
Cube 3
Required gun: None
Location hint: Nearly everything in this game has a purpose. If something seemingly doesn’t have a reason to be there, maybe it actually does...
Method hint: Yes, it’s going to take a while. Keep generally moving in one direction, and don’t give up!
Closest map point: Down The Rabbit Hole
Cube 4
Required gun: None
Location hint: This one is not hidden at all. Simply keep your eyes open in a normal puzzle room for a purple cube and/or the path it will travel behind a small glass barrier.
Method hint: Maybe you need to examine the cube. Keep going, and there will be a faint sound (after a slight delay) to confirm that it has completed its path.

Cube 5
Required gun: None
Location hint: Wouldn’t it be nice to just be transported to the cube?
Method hint: You may be assuming there are fewer total outcomes possible in this spot than there actually are. Have you actually checked all the possibilities?
Closest map point: Window Of Opportunity
Cube 6
Required gun: Blue, although green is recommended.
Location hint: Is ALL of it only visual and not physical?
Method hint: You may need to create your own version if the existing one fails.
Closest map point: Managing Resources
Cube 7
Required gun: Blue, although green is recommended
Location hint: Why couldn’t you have just walked to the next location?
Method hint: That sign right there... maybe it’s referring to more than one thing...
Closest map point: A Wall Without Stairs
Cube 8
Required gun: None
Location hint: If the color’s slightly different than normal, maybe it’s not the only thing that’s different.
Method hint: Doing the normal method while looking in a different direction may make things a little clearer.
Closest map point: Stairway To Heaven

Required gun: Green
Location hint: What color block are we looking for?
Method hint: Where have you seen that thing? What has it meant?
Closest map point: Déjà Vu
Cube 10
Required gun: Green
Location hint: Don’t be too distracted by the anticipation of your next goal.
Method hint: This game doesn’t generally waste space, so why would it now?
Closest map point: Link In A Chain Reaction
Cube 11
Required gun: Blue
Location hint: That might not be all it’s hiding...
Method hint: Only one direction left to try, really.
Closest map point: Cry Me A River

Required gun: Yellow
Location hint: You may have seen this area in normal play and just had no clue how to get there.
Method hint: It may not be a tower, but you’re still climbing it.
Closest map point: Four Different Exits
Cube 13
Required gun: Green, although red is recommended
Location hint: Your instinct probably took over from here.
Method hint: A nice throwback to quite possibly the first thing in this game you felt like you actually solved.

The cube rooms are never separate locations from regular puzzles on the map, so these locations are simply the best representation possible.
