How to start this game and get the EA launcher working (not at all)
By Corvo
As everyone knows and unfortunately for those who buy it without that knowledge, this game has startup problems due to the EA launcher.

This guide is to solve the launcher problem (not really, but you can start the game as many times as you want)

how to launch DA2
1) Disable the EA launcher startup, from task manager

2) Launch the game, sometimes it takes more than one try // If the game doesn't start on the first try, it probably won't start, but sometimes it starts on the second or third try.

3) Play

If you still can't start the game because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ EA launcher

4) Open the task manager and close all EA launcher processes (EA & EA Background Service)

5) Repeat step 2

Basically you have to start the game without the EA launcher started, and every time the game does not start, close the EA launcher processes and start the game again as many times as necessary.
This way you can start DA2 as many times as you want without restarting the PC.

Sometimes the launcher will show error messages from the game, but these do not affect anything

(this will probably work for other games that have the same startup problem due to the EA launcher)

I actually got this working by going to the application itself in the install folder
...\Dragon Age II\bin_ship
and opening DragonAge2.exe directly. It opened a window I had never seen that asked me to sign into origin (which is weird cause to my knowledge origin is gone). I put my login creds for the EA launcher and launched!

I did have the EA launcher closed at the time, though steam was open. Didnt seem to start the EA launcher at all.

Hope this works for other people cause it seems to have worked for me.

So, everytime I launch the game, even from the EA app, it keeps telling me to login to my Origins account, I don't have an Origins account and I'm not talking about Dragon Age: Origins

For anyone reading this getting app crashes after "preparing game" it's EA's back end infrastructure that's the problem, not your setup, it's temperamental and your only option is to just try later.

Maybe you have another problem, in my case what causes the game not to start is the EA launcher that for some reason, no matter how much I want to start the game, it doesn't.
What I do to start the game is to have the launcher completely closed and launch the game so that EA starts at the same time, this in theory would make da2 start if this were not the case, close the launcher completely and repeat until it starts.
I also saw that some have a problem with the EA overlay that causes DA2 to not start either. You could try to disable it, it seems to work for some but I didn't check it because I used the method in the guide.
