Dumping the Main Game's ROMs
In order to access the ROMs, you will need to download and perform the following.
  • Download the release build of the Cowabunga project from here[github.com] under the assets section of the most recent version. Right Click the download and click "Extract All" to extract the files in the downloaded archive.
  • Copy the Executable "cowabunga64.exe" in the extracted folder to the Game's Directory.
  • Run the command prompt by going to the address bar in the file explorer and typing "cmd" and pressing enter.
  • Enter the command "cowabunga64.exe -k cowabunga assets.pie assets.zip"
  • Wait for the program to finish, it will be complete when you are able to enter text in the command prompt again.
  • A new zip file will be created in the Game's Directory titled "assets.zip". Right Click and click "Extract All" or double click it to enter it.
  • Go to the "roms" folder inside the archive/extracted folder.
  • The roms are in the newly made and aptly titled folders based on the console they appeared on.
Konami ROMs Folder
This one is more complicated. The ROMs in the folders are unfortunately not in the correct format.
  • First you will need to download the "tmnt-cc-arcade-extract.sh" file[github.com]. Place the downloaded "tmnt-cc-arcade-extract.sh" in the same directory as the "TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles" and the "TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2".
  • Download the "ts_rom_tool.py" dependency[github.com]. Place the downloaded "ts_rom_tool.py" in the same directory as the "TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles" and the "TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2".
  • Download and setup Linux on Windows
  • Navigate to the Konami folder and the four items inside. Open the command prompt in that directory by going to the address bar in the top, "cmd"and pressing enter on the keyboard.
  • Enter and run the command "wsl sudo apt install zip" to install a needed dependency. Press "y" to confirm the installation when prompted.
  • Next, in the command prompt, enter the command "bash tmnt-cc-arcade-extract.sh".
  • You should then be presented with three .zip files. all of which can be launched using MAME.

NOTE: These ROMs are specifically for MAME, not Final Burn Alpha / Neo.

Theoretically possible, but definitely outside the scope of the guide. You'd have to reverse the function of the Cowabunga Decryptor. I wouldn't know how to do that currently.

is there anyway to modify the roms, and put it back into the collection? Instead of playing on emulators?
