Parts the original level does poorly are the intros, and outros of mutant: The gameplay of these cutscenes are a complete sin, and should have been shortened, significantly changed, or just outright removed. This level does none of that, and just changes the gameplay of these parts to be slightly easier/different.
The level itself is forgettable, bland, and has essentially nothing going for it outside of tiles, and the use of gun tables/sprites that look alright.
The enemy reskin is good, that's about all there is to say about that.
The outro is the part I liked the least, it needed, NEEDED the biggest facelift out of this entire level, and didn't get the treatment it needed. The gaspumps NEEDED to look like gaspumps, and they don't.
Coulda been better.
