S.S Keewatin (Broken with the Space Update)

From the creators of the Freshspring, Manasoo and JH Jones, Georgian Bay Shipping brings you another historic ship. The Mighty Ship Keewatin.

This project was started in late December of 2022, and we have put all we can into it, we hope you enjoy it.

Launched in 1907 and completed in September, The Keewatin would travel across the ocean from Govan, Scotland to Quebec where she was cut in half for her to be able to fit in the canal locks heading to Owen sound to begin her service. Making her home port in Port McNicoll, Ontario she served the Great Lakes for over 60 years before being retired. Keewatin and Her sister ship the Assiniboia were set to be preserved as museum ships until tragically the Assiniboia burned under mysterious circumstances and was scrapped. The Keewatin would be saved and later, under the threat of scrapping, was purchased by Roland J Peterson who would keep the ship as a museum piece in Saugatuck Michigan. She was purchased by a land development group named skyline who in efforts to revitalize Port Mcnicoll, the Keewatin would be the center piece for their resort/residential plans. These plans turned sour eventually and in
2019 the ship was closed off from tours, and even restoration, Leaving the Keewatin to rust away. Thankfully in 2022 the Kingston Maritime Museum announced it would be taking Keewatin and in the spring of 2023 the Ship was towed to Heddle Shipyards for repair and painting. She will be heading to Kingston this fall and open for tours next spring.

There will be a collection of videos that will be released going over some of the details of the ship, and how to start her.

Videos are a bit better explanation but as follows.
Enter Boilerroom, open firebox doors and set the temperature to 150 on all four boilers. Temperature can be adjusted later on to compensate for steam usage.

Climb up to the top of the boilers and open up the valves. There should be three on each boiler, two keys, one for the aux steam, and one for the whistle. As well there is a instrument panel for the Main steam line. There is a bug with the dynamos that use steam so set only ONE boiler to aux and the rest open the main line, as well as one or two boilers on whistle supply.

Wait for pressure, and keep the boilers filled

Head to the engine room, on the starboard side there is a circulating engine at the end of that walk space. Turn that engine on using the instrument, then turn around and open the two keys, Injector Line and Injector Pump. These will allow the condensate somewhere to go. To fill the boilers there is another instrument panel to the right to open the injector.

Head to the engineers station and set the reverser on the control handle. Make sure to lock the reverser after moving it with 3.

Open all four cylinder drains, and then adjust the throttle control however it is needed following the Telegraph.
Pressing 1 on the bridge's helm with enable automatic control. You will still have to stoke the boilers unfortunately.

See last picture in photograph slider, piping diagram for the ballast system. I don't ever want to play this game again so you can piece it together from the diagrams. Simple really, water in, water out. With stormworks physics it doesn't do much anyway.

Lighting
Once boilers are running, you can turn the two dynamos on, once the two lights on the switchboard turn on, activate the two isolating breakers and then flip each section breaker to turn on the main breakers for each area. Lights are controlled by their room, the engine room, or a breaker in the lower flower deck on the starboard side behind the main entrance hall heading aft to the engineers quarters. Exterior lights are located in the bridge.

Again, we hope you enjoy the Keewatin, let us know if there is anything we need to change or fix. We have slowly been losing our minds so some things may have gone overlooked. As well please do not ask us how to sink the ship..... be creative or just don't and instead enjoy a historical ship.
