Planet Pyke

Beskrivelse
Background

Pyke was discovered in 492 NE by the Orlen Astronomers' Association during a transit photometry survey of nearby exoplanets. Located 6.8 lightyears from Angelus, Pyke is a volcanic super-earth with an ashy atmosphere. Despite orbiting close to its sun, the planet receives only two thirds as much light as Earth, because of the volcanic winter. As a result, the planet is more habitable than expected - though, it's still very hostile to life. The atmospheric composition is high in carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfur dioxide.

Surviving on Pyke is challenging, as the only sources of ice are the comets that the planet's large gravity well can capture. Pyke has been inhabited by people from a variety of backgrounds, from adventurous frontiersmen, to daredevils, to space pirates. There are no officially-sanctioned cities on this lawless planet.

Wow! That's a fun coincidence. I haven't played many 90s-era PC games unfortunately.

@Elindis, there's a planet Pyke in the old game Gazillionaire. I thought for sure it was the inspiration behind this planet. https://lparchive.org/Gazillionaire-Deluxe/Update%2007/1-pyke.png

I appreciate that, Archon :)

@Gary: I don't know what that means D:

one of my favorite playthroughs so far a friend and I started on Pyke completely blind with some jetpack nerfs and other challenging mods. That orange hue really does a great job of making it look more intimidating it was a genuinely scary playthrough, do recommend.

Where can I locate the L-Tech engine factory on this planet? I am looking for a new 8 kuarp engine for my Mantagon.

I was originally considering having the lava do damage, honestly. I decided against it in the end because the environment damage script could be prone to worse performance or bugginess, but let's just say the engineer's materials are durable enough to withstand Pyke's heat :)

Shame the 'lava' doesn't do damage. Would've been very cool.

Cloud layer errors are normal; please enjoy as usual. :)

@idiot It doesn't have to be very far. It depends entirely on the type of terrain - so, the lava and the black rock near lava shouldn't have any ice rocks, but rocks should contain ice if the ground is cool enough to be more like sand, or soil. The distance might only be 10-20m or so, depending on the geography. Ideally, you want to find areas without much lava, but it's possible to find rocks that are nearby.
