Of course this can never fully replace regular versus as bots can be really stupid failing the most basic tasks, while also having the most unfair auto aim that snipes you through 300 meters of foliage.
They will also not appear in the infected HUD so its much harder to "coordinate" with your team composition.

Keep in mind that i WILL NOT cover versus gameplay.
If you instead are really new and must learn the intended strats and gamesense of versus then these guides are for you as my guide only aims to let you refine your own mechanical skill in a private environment:

Human players are also ideal for giving advise and strats (as if that ever happens) to new players to aid in the learning curve.
Still, playing versus solo have its benefits such as:
  • Being able to use admin/console commands whenever you want.
  • Being able to customize your experience with mods such as custom huds, models, sounds etc
  • Being able to pause

With that out of the way, lets begin!
Used mods
To easially play versus offline recommend the following mods:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=214630948

This will let you warp survivors/infected that are stuck, respawn/kill entities, add upgrades, toggle noclip/god mode on broken maps etc. Things that should absolutely not be availible in multiplayer.
Dont worry as it only works on servers you host, meaning that you wont get banned or anything.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1503906281

This will add a single player button to all your mutations. It might not be required for this mutation, but its practical, takes up almost no space and is not incompatible.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1637621247

This is also not required since you'll be able to switch teams, but i highly recommend it as it lets you start as a infected in this mutation, saving you some time each time you load up a map.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=202815791

This is by far the most polished, functional and easy to use solo versus mod on the workshop!
Nothing in this guide would work if it wasnt for this.
Please give Jerkakame some love for his amazing contribution to the game.

This is one of many recommended bot mods that prevent the game from ending prematurely if all human players (ie you) die with only bots remaining.
How to use?
Simply select the mutation called "J Campaign versus" in your mutation list. You will notice there are also Hard Eight versions included, but the regular version is the most most well working and the one we'll be using.
It works on any map and have never crashed in my experience.

Then select single player and infected if you dont wanna play survivors first.

Thats it! Have fun!
Notes and FAQ's
Q: Can i use this to play with friends that i invite to a lobby?

Yes you can! As long as all of them have the campaign versus mod installed.

Q: How will the game play out?

It will be like campaign but the map will always change if survivors (regardless if bots or players) reach the safe room but it will also always replay the same map if the infected stomp the survivors unlike versus. This will of course automatically switch the teams at the start of each round on the same map, but you can still switch back manually if you only wish to play as one team. (Or just activate god mode/kill the survivors using the admin mod if you dont have teamswitch bound to a key)

Just like campaign the survivor team that progressed the map to the next chapter will keep all their weapons and items at the start of the next map meaning exploring pays off even if it gives the infected team more chances to stop/slow you down.

Unlike regular versus no respawn closets/survivor items are disabled making it very survivor sided but still fun to mess around with if used with commands, playing non seriously with friends or playing the Hard 16 version that gives the infected team more bots and reduce their respawn time. Beware that the Hard 16 version is very broken and can prevent players on both teams from even spawning so if balance is a concern use commands to either make the infected tanks or give the survivors temporary health.

With the admin menu, you can make yourself invincible if you wanna practice pounces/charges against the aimbotting survivors. To avoid making the game end before it even started it is advised you also make at least one survivor invincible too so they can progress and respawn their teammates in the closets, giving you even more lives to prey on for each map.

If the survivors are stuck (in either broken geometry or because they dont know how to interact with objects), you can either switch and take control of them, or warp them to your location while in ghost mode using the !warp command. Commands are entered simply by typing them in chat/binding them to a key.

What are some usefull commands?

!z_spawn [infected name]

This will spawn a special infected at your crosshair. (In ghost mode it will spawn you as that infected in versus if on the infected team regardless if the survivors have left the safe room)

!give all [first_aid_kit/defibrillator/pain_pills/adrenaline/incendiary_ammo/explosive_ammo]

This command will give all survivors the item you wanna give them.
If you only want one survivor to recieve the item, replace "all" with their survivor name.
If you only want yourself to recieve it, simply dont type anything between !"give" and [item name].
This also works with weapons provided you know their internal name.

!god

Self explanatory. It makes you immune to damage (but not knockback). I advise not overusing it as it may make the game too boring and braindead. Type it again to disable.

!noclip

Makes you fly around and ignore collision and gravity (but not event triggers). Works well with !warp if survivors are stuck. Type it again to disable.

!health [survivor name] temp

Converts permanent health to temporary health on survivors. Replace "temp" with "perm" to change back to permanent health.

!revive

Instantly pulls you up from a ledge if the bots cant navigate to you.
Type "all" or [survivor name] after the command to revive them.

!respawn

Same as revive but will instead spawn a fully dead survivor at your crosshair.

!warp

Teleports survivors to you if only the command is typed.
However you can warp infected or speciffic survivors if you type the name afterwards.
Works well with the infected team's ghost mode when you want to move survivor bots.

!warp_here

if you instead want to teleport them to your crosshair instead of your current position.
(Warning: Has a tendency to spawn them stuck inside brushes and props.)

!upgrade_add all [laser_sight/incendiary_ammo/explosive_ammo]

This will grant all survivors the upgrade of your choice.
If you dont want to refill them constantly you can type "!infinite_upgrade" instead.

!kill [survivor/infected name]
Self explanatory. Not even the !god command protects against it.

!finale start

Starts the finale survival mission on the last map. Usefull if the finale cant be triggered.

!finale rescue

Instantly skips to the end of the finale survival mission when the rescue arrives and a endless horde of commons and tanks storm the survivals. Usefull if campaign scripting softlocks in a endless finale.

Other notes.

"I gave Nick god mode but when i play as him i still take damage!"

The game tracks players and bots as seperate units despite sharing the same body.
When you take control of Nick for instance, you as a player override the condition you applied to the bot.

To make yourself invincible in whatever body you possess type !god which will apply it to your own "player entity" instead of just the bot. (If you use the !kill command it may disable the !god command the next time you respawn)
