a few things before anything...
  • This guide contains spoilers!
  • This guide covers all of the "Puzzler's Pack" DLC, it will be updated when the later DLC releases.
  • This guide will not cover any of the base game unlocks, but if people request then I might make a separate guide for the previous unlocks.

New Locations!
This part of the guide covers all new locations and how to unlock them.

The Hedgefarm

The Hedgefarm is a new location that can be unlocked, and thankfully you can access it really early into your playthrough to gain access to a bunch of fun (plus all of the new locations in general.)

The unlock method is as followed:
  1. Play a normal run and find a side room, you can find the Hedge Farmer as soon as Pridemoor if you're lucky, but it might take a few resets.
  2. Enter the Hedge Farmer's side room and clear all the bugs. It can be difficult at times and loosing the side room will kick you out of it as a whole, leading you to have to find another side room to try again. (I recommend using a heavy hitter like Propeller Knight or Specter Knight.)
  3. Once you complete the room, the Hedge Farmer will thank you for your efforts and come to your camp!

From this point, you'll find the Hedgefarm in the bottom area of your camp, you'll see the entrance where Tipp used to be.

The Beanstalk and "Solving the Bean" quest.

Entering the Hedgefarm and speaking to the Hedge Farmer will initiate the "Solving the Bean" quest, but there are a few prerequisites to unlocking the beanstalk.
  • Moving the Fleeto by attacking with a move that does more then 3 damage. (Plague Knight's poison effect, Propeller Knights combo attack, Tinker Knight's mech.) Alternativly you can swap Fleeto's position with Prism Knight.

  • Plague Knight and either King Knight, Mole Knight, or Scrap Knight must be unlocked.
  • You must have 20,000 Gems to donate.
Donating said gems will cause the bean to sprout giving access to the next few areas.

Quandary Castle

Climbing up the Beanstalk leads to Quandary Castle, the main new area released in the DLC which holds most of the new content in it's sub-areas.

  • Hallowed Halls

Hallowed Halls is the center area of the Castle that leads to many other paths, when you first enter the area you'll find Beefto and Mr. Hat, for now you can't do much and they'll only give you a little flavor text. However once you complete a quandary in the above area, it'll open up with a few new areas and optional additions to make your runs even more fun!

  • Mr. Hat's Shop
To the left of the Hallowed Halls you can find Mr. Hat's shop, where you can purchase multiple types of hats that add special modifiers to change each run in the pocket dungeon. This area unlocks whether or not you complete a quandary, so if you're in a rush, you can just start a quandary and lose on purpose to access the hat shop as soon as you load back into the camp. You can also stack the hats to have multiple buffs or debuffs on your run, but be warned the more hats you wear the higher chance that Mr. Hat himself will appear as a boss in your next run!

  • Sculpture Garden

The sculpture garden is where you can find sculptures of the playable characters. This area only unlocks after completing a quandary, so if you lose, its back to square one. The way to get one built is completing all of the quandaries for the specific character, for example, complete Shovel Knight's four quandaries to unlock the Shovel Knight statue. (and getting the true ending in each of the quandaries will result in the statue being made of gold as opposed tomarble.)

That leads us to the final and most important part of the Quandary Castle.

Chamber of Quandaries
The Chamber of Quandaries is the most important part of the DLC, giving every character a new ability, special stage, and more! (plus the other two areas in the castle are locked behind completing/attempting one quandary.) The quandaries are challenging so it's suggested you attempt them after you already understand the mechanics of the game as well as unlocking a few items to make your runs smoother. Most characters usually have about 4 challenges (with the small majority having only 2 or 3.) The four challenges can be summed up to a variation of these 4:

  • Legendary Path - The legendary path is just a replay of the original run, however it adds way more challenge by leveling up every enemy that you challenged. For example, a regular beeto in stage one will become a much stronger fleeto (an enemy you'd see much later in a regular run.) Defeating the Legendary Path will reward you with a bean-themed palette for the knight you're playing as. Sort of a lame reward.

  • Refraction Realm - The Refraction Realm is a regular run with the difference that the knight you're playing as is given a brand new ability! For example Polar Knight's regular ability that freezes foes in a chain is replaced with a new ability that allows him to throw spinwulf's onto the board. The Refraction Realm quandary is usually the most fun, as it gives you an entirely new experience to a character you already mastered. Beating the Refraction Realm allows you to use the new ability in regular play by pressing Y (if you're on xbox controller.)

  • Character Quest - Character Quest gives you a new experience by adding one or multiple modifiers to a run. They can either be helpful or make your run even more difficult, but completing one unlocks a retro palette for the knight you were playing as, they look pretty cool!

  • Trail of Offerings - The Trial of Offerings is a regular run with a modifier added each stage, making your run either easier or harder depending on the modifier added by stage. Completing the quandary however adds a character specific hat to Mr. Hat's shop. The hat added corresponds to the character you were playing as.

Completing all of the quandaries for a character unlocks Marathon Mode for you to take the ultimate challenge. The Quandary Sage will request you to complete 30 waves in marathon mode for an achievement, but going above and beyond and completing 100 waves will unlock a very special prize...

New Characters!
Listed below are all the new characters, and how to unlock them.

Puzzle Knight
Puzzle Knight is the first, and arguably easiest to unlock in the new DLC, and the method of unlocking is as followed. Beat the game with any character & get the True Ending.

As simple as that! In fact, you've probably already unlocked him by now.

Mona
Mona is next, and is a little more difficult as an unlock. There are a few steps you must follow to unlock her. First you'll need to unlock her minigame by breaking the grass passage next to Chester's shop, just bump into it and it'll pop open. Once finding Mona's minigame area you must get to a score of 100+ to have her randomly appear in your runs in the side rooms. She can appear as soon as Pridemoor keep as well, so you can get her really early into your next run! Once entering her side room survive her onslaught of bombs and she'll join your camp shortly after.

Spinwulf
Spinwulf is a fairly easy unlock with a difficult set up, but as long as you followed the earlier instructions on unlocking The Hedgefarm, Beanstalk, and Quandary Castle you should be set. So if you already have these areas unlocked, you'll follow the next step, unlocking Polar Knight's refract ability Spinwulf Strike! Simply do the refract challenge in the Quandary Castle and it will be unlocked for future play. From this point on the unlock method is fairly easy, just chuck a spinwulf into Percy's cannon and the stage will begin with not Polar Knight, but the Spinwulf itself!

Quandary Sage
The Quandary Sage is by far the most difficult to unlock, but it's also the most straight forward unlock as well. Clear 100 waves in an endless marathon. Doing this will add him as a playable character.

And that's it for the unlockable characters, we might see more in the future and this category will be updated as such when it happens!

Cheat Codes!
Cheat codes are entered in the "Seeds" section of the pause menu, and can only be accessed in the camp. You can also unlock everything in the game completion wise by putting in a very specific code in the main menu after the title screen, the exact code is Up Up Down Down Up Down Up Down Left Right Left Right Esc Esc Esc.

I will now list every cheat code discovered in the game so far, excluding the cheats that simply just add one item to your inventory at the beginning of a run. This list can and will be updated in the future with more cheat codes that are added in a future update/DLC.

Text Cheats
  • BUTT - Enables butt mode and changes every instant of the word "Knight" with "Butt"
  • JRJR - Enables Jar Jar mode, changing me to "meesa" and you to "yousa" and etc.
  • WHTM - Enables Arbys mode and changes every instant of the word "Knight" to "Meat"
  • SAMURAI - Changes some text to resemble the japanese localization of Shovel Knight
  • MORETIPS - Tipp provide hints at every action and replaces unit descriptions

Visual Cheats
  • GOOGLY - The knight you're playing as is given googly eyes, and mirror mode is enabled
  • EYECANSEE - All Knights are given "beautiful eyes" and enables the "Eyes" cheat
  • DONOVAN - Enables the sepia shader, the same one used in Specter Knight's Reverie Quest, also if playing as Specter Knight himself changes you to play as Donovan fully
  • VINE - Replaces gems during runs with Vine heads. (the crocodile guy in the credits)

Difficulty Cheats
  • ZORIX - Enables "Zorix Mode" which changes the following things in a run. Almost all small units are hidden in Junk Blocks with (3) hit points which may contain up to 2 other Junk Blocks. The Solution Awaits is replaced by Into the Dungeon on the map screen, all stages (except boss rooms) get the Meet Your Fate soundtrack, the Tower of Fate floor texture and the UI frame of the Shrines.
  • YACHTCLUB - Fills every room in the game with water, giving the same effect as the Iron Whale stage and Treasure Knight boss fight.
  • NOTAPUZZLE - Removes the ability to make chains all together.

Unlock Cheats
  • RELICNO[number] - Using this cheat and replacing the number section with any number above 14 (which includes the first 14 items you get when you first start the game) will unlock the corresponding relic to that number, making it appear in Chester's shop in the camp.
  • ROUNDTABLE - Unlocks all playable Knights
  • REFRACTABL - Unlocks all Refract Abilities
  • RELICS4DAYS - Unlocks all Relics
  • HATS4WEEKS - Unlocks all Hats
  • IMACITYBOY - Skips the "Solving the Bean" Quest
  • FREEGEMHAX - Get 100,000 Gems in the camp

And that covers every cheat, like I said this section can and will be updated following any update or DLC release.
Neato things to do!
While I wont be covering EVERY new item and hat that was added in the DLC, I will cover a few neat things that I discovered in my playthroughs.

Beefto's Ball
After a while Beefto will request for you to play endless mode for him, and completing 10 loops will lead him to give you a golden ball! However if you cheat (by changing the settings during the 10 loops in anyway) he'll give you a much less flashy regular ball.

Ben Salk's Mustache
Speaking with Scrap Knight in the Quandary Castle she'll speak with you about wanting to steal Ben's mustache. How rude!

Switching to her and using her stash ability on Ben will allow to to steal and wear his mustache! Ben will now sport a freshly shaven face until reverted. Completing a run wearing this mustache will unlock an achievement as well.

Caught in the act!
Entering Puzzle Knight's secret room while playing as the man himself will cause Teif to run in fear, that'll teach him to touch our stuff!

And that's it, if I discover more cool little thing's I'll add them to this section.
Ending.

The only things I really know of, are Schmutz the Cat code and the Lumberall codes, that’s about it for hidden characters and content (as far as I know that could be counted as hidden).

There is a neat eater egg in Hallowed Halls where you can send Treasure Knight flying if you dash onto him towards the circle thingy with a tree symbol

About the RELICNO cheat: It actually locks the relic you enter... Making it unable to show up in runs... Useful for optimizing your relic pool... And yes it can't lock the default relics... Which are actually the first 15 since the numbers go from 0 to 14...
There's also a RELICME[number] cheat which allows you to start a run with any given relic... Including a default one...
