Ez Alchemy Spreadsheet
By Masti
With the Keep your Secrets update, the Alchemy tab got introduced along with the Compendium where you can now see the information present here all very neatly in-game! Huge thank you to the Devs for implementing this!

If you'd still like to be able to pin this guide as a translucent steam-overlay to see the combinations without having to re-open the Compendium each time, I will keep this guide up.
Also updated the order of potions to match the Compendium in-game for better clarity and to aid memorisation.
The basic alchemy information, potion names and so on will also be available here as it was before the update.

The left-most column (X) has the base ingredients while the top row (Y) has the secondary ingredients.
See where they intersect to see the result, the order does not matter when mixing them.

Basic Information
Alchemy is the act of combining two bottles of liquid together and seeing what happens.
It requires an Alembic to get started, however you can also level up the skill before finding one by filling Empty Bottles from Faucets and Fountains, drinking any potion for the first time and throwing any potions at enemies.

Things to note:
Mixing Water with any potion will duplicate that potion with a % chance based on your current Alchemy skill. Failing the check will destroy the potion but keep the water.
Mixing Polymorph with any potion will create a random potion.
Mixing Acid in an invalid recipe will create an explosion.
Mixing Water with Acid results in Regret.
Mixing any non-base or non-secondary potion, aka any final result with anything else (except ) will always result in a Sickness.
Mixing different enhancement levels will always result in the lowest quality, meaning mixing anything with a cursed potion is usually a bad idea and mixing anything blessed with anything normal or cursed would simply be a waste unless you're really tight on space. This also applies with decanting.

Decanting is mixing two potions with the same effect into the same stack to save inventory space.
Always* start decanting with the most restoring potion in the case of , and since the resulting potions will always have the amount of the first one, letting you effectively upgrade your smaller ones.

*This only applies to same enhancement level of potions of different stacks and restore amounts, since while you can upgrade the restore amount, you can only downgrade the enhancement level.
Afterword
Remember to stock up on Empty Bottles and random potions from any Potion Merchants.
Drain any Water Source you find into Empty Bottles, save said Water for potion duplication when you know what you want more of.
Proceed to yell at your allies for drinking/draining water sources in multiplayer.
Always Decant two different stacks of the same potion into one to save space.
Goatmen have a chance to receive up to 3 additional potions from fountains, be it via interacting with an Empty Bottle or by simply drinking from it.
Recycle your unwanted potions into by combining with anything else (except ).
Use said for or, useful in creating and respectively, which in turn can be used to work towards your first Extra Healing.

Surprisingly few people seem to know this, but when entering the Hamlet after defeating Baron Herx, there is a trapdoor leading up in the middle of the sewers that always contains 5 Extra Healing and 5 Restore Magic
If you've been stockpiling Water like you should have, things should be easy from here on out.
Remember to check Hamlet's potion shop and all the chests while you're there.
Don't forget to yoink the Academy's/Guild's potion-stands and drain the faucet before the portal room.
There will always be a free Alembic in the sewers with the secret merchant to kickstart any mid-game Alchemy schenanigans if you've been ignoring it until now.

To get your hands on an Extra Healing ASAP, you'll want to keep an eye out for , .

Dare I ask exactly what you mean by 'Regret'? xD

@Cheggf Thanks, I've edited the wording to better reflect that.

Decanting will downgrade potions into the lowest enhancement that's in the alembic. If you decant two blessed potions together they will stay blessed.

Very nice, I find this more convenient than the Barony wiki for alchemy as a quick reference. :ss13ok:
