Better in some regards, but everything's too small and the sector stash area needs to be much much bigger.

Imagine they'd release a game after 25 years which isn't a total downgrade about everything UI related

Everything is way too small, bad use of screen space and there is no need to see your entire squad at the same time. The fonts are so blurry in that size that it's barely readable. The way the original game does it is better.
