Next, once you've downloaded HxD, right click on Dead Space 2 on Steam, go to Manage, and click on Browse local files. It'll open up the location of Dead Space 2's files.

Right click on any .DAT file that is 0.92 gigabytes, or around 1GB (For instance, mine is DS2DAT6.DAT. Yours could be different), and open with HxD. This is the part where you can choose to unlock various suits to your liking.

The Standard suits here are normal base game suits you can unlock by leveling up. However, you can mod the game to unlock them by default following this guide:

Search for:
"ui_mp_suit_2_desc",
4
and replace 4 with 0. DO NOT DELETE ANY NUMBERS OR ELSE YOUR GAME WILL CRASH ON STARTUP.
This unlocks the Solid Army Green suit for Multiplayer.

You can change the number 2 to all the way up to 16 to search for the other Standard suits. For a full list of base game suits and their levels, see here [deadspace.fandom.com].

Once you've finished editing, save and close the file, then boot up Dead Space 2. If everything worked, you should see your suits in the character setup menu.

The Viral Suits are special suits worn by developers during events, and can only be unlocked by killing the wearer. These events never occurred on PC, however, as developers only played on PS3 and Xbox 360. But they are indeed in the files of PC, just locked. Here is how you can unlock them:

For the viral suits, search for:
"ui_mp_suit_viral_1_desc",
-1
and once again, replace -1 with 00.
AGAIN, DO NOT DELETE ANY NUMBERS OR ELSE YOUR GAME WILL CRASH ON STARTUP.
This unlocks the Solid Viral Blue suit.

Once you've finished editing, save and close the file, then boot up Dead Space 2. If everything worked, you should see your suits in the character setup menu.

Every suit here has been seen once, or has even been documented somewhere. But these developer suit have never been seen before, not even appearing on the wiki since its inception! The only developer suit to be seen was the pink one worn by Louis Gascoigne in a few trailers, but this was thought to be a super duper rare viral suit that no one had, until now...

For secret developer suits, search for "matchett",
"ui_placeholder_skin_name",
"ui_placeholder_skin_desc",

and replace -100 with 0000. ONCE AGAIN, DO NOT DELETE ANY NUMBERS OR YOUR GAME WILL CRASH ON STARTUP.
This unlocks a secret developer skin, which doesn't say which color it is. In-game, it is an urban camouflaged lime suit.

• All these suits just appear as "Developer" in game, but each of different colors.

There is nothing about the Rivet Gun. The console versions used special .luas to unlock the Rivet Gun if you preordered from GameStop. The PC version does not have any info as to unlock the weapon. It is not locked behind a config like the suits here. There is nothing about the Rivet Gun.
However, the other DLC suits and weapons did use .luas in order for them to be unlocked. The PC version went around this by modding the .exe of the game. Hmmmmm...

Likewise, there is no info in game to change your level. From all my digging, things like your level and leaderboard stats are saved online. The only way to get max level is to have a friend go infinite health with a trainer while you try to execute them as a Necromorph. I've tried this before, and it generates a lot of XP. 2 million is required for max level iirc.
