(Think real life and why landing gears have shocks). The same thing happens if you drop a big block on a smaller block.
The damage calculation to the LG's HP is determined on landing by the mass of the ship and its impact against terrain or objects when you land or if your using an LG as a salvager how hard the contact is when they come into contact with another object or terrain.
Unfortunately, Most landing gear in general has a habit of blowing up when you land.
Which is why no one really uses it.
Have you fixed the issue with the gear disintegrating due to ship mass and gravity?
Thank you for your answer.
So everything is ok in my world.
I checked the Str Trek angular landing gear, which is also a bit problematic, but after minor modifications to the landing pad, I can dock normally to the connector without fear of sticking to the grids.
These are the nicest chassis in the workshop anyway.
