PVZ GOTY Seed Selection Screen Lag/Low FPS Fix
By wirelessrabbit
CREDITS TO DJZK ON GITHUB
- They have created the patch on github and I am just merely sharing this information to other users to help them.

INTRODUCTION
For some reason the GOTY (Game Of The Year) edition of Plants Vs. Zombies suffers from a massive FPS drop when selecting seeds on a level but after selecting the seed the FPS stabilizes. I myself suffered from this problem and after snooping around on ProtonDB where Steam Deck users also suffer from the same problem (LINK REMOVED: protondb_com_app/3590) I stumbled upon a comment on the thread which linked a github post that says that all you need to do is to replace the .exe file in the game folder with the patched .exe file.

ABOUT ACHIEVEMENTS
Someone did confirm that achievements WILL STILL WORK even if you replace the .exe file.
So rest assured for those achievement hunters out there :)

TUTORIAL

- Make sure you save your progress using Steam Cloud to make sure you don't lose your progress.

- Go to your Library and select Plants Vs. Zombies, right click it and select Manage>Browse local files, leave the window open for now.

- Go to the download link here:

ALTERNATIVE DOWNLOAD: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fzsQGSXatsOe0pKA4o6jvjzg3bmbLguM/view?usp=drive_link

DOWNLOAD HERE: https://github.com/DJZK/popcap-patches/blob/master/popcap-games/plants-vs-zombies-goty/no-drm/PlantsVsZombies.exe(AGAIN CREDITS TO DJZK FOR MAKING THIS PATCH.)

- On the page just click download and wait for the file to download (File name should be: PlantsVsZombies.exe) I've also ran VirusTotal on the file and it says it has no risks.

- After downloading the file, simply drag the .exe file into the game folder (the window that you left open) and a prompt should appear, select "Replace the file in the destination"

- Then close the window and open the game!

Wow, can't tell you how much this patch is appreciated. It annoyed the hell out of me seeing that lag when this should be a very light game for the SD to process. Thanks a lot!!
