Instructions On How To Play PS2 Games On Steam With RetroArch!

Step (1) Download RetroArch - Download Link


Scroll Down On The Website & Download RetroArch From The Website, After You Need To Extract The File AKA Unzip It!
Step (2) Download 7-Zip
7-Zip Download Link > https://www.7-zip.org/

Donwload 7-Zip If You Don't Already Have A File Extracter!
Step (3) Extract RetroArch
Right Click On RetroArch And Click On "Show More Options"

Then Click 7-Zip And After Click "Extract To RetroArch\"
Step (4) Update RetroArch
Open Up The RetroArch & RetroArch-Win64 Folder Then Run The "retroarch.exe"

Click On "Main Menu" And After Click "Online Updater"


Update Everything!
Step (5) Core Downloader
Click On Main Menu And After Click "Load Core"

Click On "Download A Core"

Look For "Sony - PlayStation 2 (LRPS2)" And Download It!
Step (6) Adding Your Game ROMs To RetroArch!
Click On Main Menu And After Click "Import Content"

Click On "Scan Directory" And Go To The Folder That You Have Your Game ROMs In!

When You Get To Your Game ROMs Folder Click "<Scan This Directory>"
Step (7) Game Thumbnails
Click On Main Menu And After Click Online Updater

Click On "Playlist Thumbnails Updater"

Click On "Sony - PlayStation 2"
Step (8) Attempt To Run Your Game To Create Extra Folders & Files That You Need!
Click On "PlayStation 2" After Click On Your Game ROM!

Click "Run"

Click "Sony - PlayStation 2 (LRPS2)"

Click "Run" Again After RetroArch Should Have Closed Down! Your Game Will Not Start But It Will Create Extra Folders & Files That You Need!
Step (9) PS2 BIOS
Go Back To Your "RetroArch & RetroArch-Win64" Folder and Click On "system" Folder!


Click On "pcsx2" Folder!


Click On "bios" Folder!

Put Your PS2 Bios Into The "bios" Folder!

Sorry I Cannot Tell You How To Get A PS2 Bios You Can Do Research On Your Own!
Step (10) Copy Everything Inside The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder
Now Copy Everything In The "RetroArch-Win64" Folder! Open Up Your Steam Library Find Your RetroArch Right Click It And Click "Properties" Next Click "Installed Files" After Click "Browse" Now Paste All The Files Into Your RetroArch Folder On Steam!
HAVE FUN!!!
Open Up RetroArch On Steam Now Go Play PS2 Games On Steam With RetroArch!



Audio Fix!
Click On "Settings & Then Audio"


Click On "Output"


Click On "Audio"


Pick One Of The Audios "xaudio" Works For Me!
Use Vulkan Make Games Run Better!
Click On "Setting" Then "Video"


Click On "Output"


Click On "Video"


Use "vulkan"
Better Looking In-Game Graphics Settings!
  • Press F1 On Your Keyboard When In Game!

After You Press F1 Click On "CoreOptions"

Click On "System"


Click On "Bios"

Pick What "Bios / Language" You Want To Use!

Click On "Video"


  • Renderer > Set To "Vulkan"
  • Internal Resolution > Set To Your Liking!
  • Force Texture LOD0 > Set To "ON"
  • Anisotropic Filtering > Set To Your Liking or To What Your PC Can Handle!
Screen Renderer Fix! (If Game Screen Looks Broken Or Buggy Looking)
  • Does Your Game Look Something Like This?

  • Press F1 On Your Keyboard When In Game!

After You Press F1 Click On "CoreOptions"

Click On "Video"

Click On "Renderer"


Click On "Software" After Restart Your Game!

***WARNING***
Every Game Is Different So You May Have To Play Around With Each Renderer Option To See Which One Works Best For Your Game!


Alternative Option > Play On PCSX2 Emulator

Hopefully Your Game Is Now Fixed!

The screen just isn't centered, but i discovered that minimizing and maximizing it again fixes it, had no issues at all besides this and the index.yaml thing

@Croliuz can you give me a SS of what your screen looks like are what it doing? I also get game index.yaml mostly a bug they need to fix!

Did everything right and the game worked, but the screen is kinda odd and it says "game index.yaml is missing, expect bugs", if i keep minimizing and maximizing the screen it kinda "fixes" the screen, but i'm not sure about the "expect bugs" part

there's no online updater
