What's an "Alligator Tug" you may ask? well, simple! It's a boat that goes on land! Alligator tugs, also known as "Warping Tugs" or "Alligator Boats", were specially designed tugboats used for hauling logs around in rivers. Their amphibious abilities were needed to be able to cross between nearby bodies of water that were either not linked nearby or not at all, and they did it by dragging themselves along the ground using a powerful winch paired with a comically large anchor. They were primarily used in Canada and in the U.S.

SPECIFICATIONS

Top speed: 9.5 Knots
Length: 14 Meters
Width: 5.25 Meters
Height: 6 Meters
(Actual size in the workbench is slightly larger)

FEATURES

-Simulated oscillating steam engine
-Forward winch with animated cable drum
-Amphibious capabilities
-Interior lights, exterior lights, navigation lights
-Simulated telegraph
-Various handheld equipment, including 6 ropes
-2 Manual bilge pumps
-Multiple rope anchors for mooring and towing
-1 Compass
-Steam whistle
-Full interior

HOW TO START/OPERATION

-Simply hit the "Light Boiler" key on the boiler.
-Make sure the boiler is filled with coal.
-Ignore the water level plummeting at the start, it'll bounce back up

-The telegraph has 5 forward speeds and 5 reverse speeds
-for pulling the boat onto land, you need to use the winch on the front. What I like to do is let the rope all the way out, flip the anchor upside down, toggle on the connector, and then carry the anchor to where it needs to be and drop it.
-The boat uses skis to be able to move on land so you might find it sliding around on hills.
-The boat doesn't use a condenser, so the boiler can only produce steam for a limited amount of time before running out of steam while on land.

EXTRA NOTES

-No, there is no sink switch.
-Yes, I am aware the anchor is not comically large. Easier to handle that way.
-The boat does not do well in large waves at all.
-There have been a few small last-minute changes made that aren't seen in the screenshots

From this point on whenever a ship can go on land it's called The Skagway! Unless it's a farm!

this is such an interesting vehicle, i knew there were some really interesting designs back in the day, from steam tractors, to dredges, but Alligator Tugboats are a new one, like ye old hovercraft.

Well, Oakland isn't exactly one for towing in the first place, since those massive paddle wheels being static create ludicrous amounts of drag, but that's cool
