By Zatchel
To me, this is one of the hardest achievements in the game to complete and there aren't any guides with detailed tips on how to more easily obtain it, so here it is

General Tips
First things first, tourist is the weakest class by far.

It wont learn any new skill by leveling up besides the flash skill that you can only use 5 times per game to lower the accuracy of the enemies surrounding you and on top of that you cannot use the dimensional vault to set yourself up with OP starting gear, so the start is always delicate and any surprise could mean the end.

However, there is a few things that will make this achievement easier for you.

  1. Unlock the Tourist class and select it [Duh!]
  2. I would recommend doing this on "Normal" difficulty (Afternoon stroll), enemies will be easier to defeat even though you wont gain as many pages per journal writing. You will probably finish writing up around the 1.2k ~ 1.5k kilometres mark
  3. Castle renovations are very helpful. The tourists starts with some money (3k gold), I recommend you wait until you have unlocked the next:
    • Followers of the Force Knight - Most important one, ALWAYS take this quest when attempting the achievement, it will prevent the demon lord from appearing and forces Force Knights Shrines to appear (which count as towns) where you can get a free heal every time from the NPC in it.
    • Swordmaster Falli - Early strong sword (1.8k) or Spear (2.3k)
    • The Knight Grande - Early strong armor (2.5k) or shield(2k)
    • Golden Goddess Altar - Reduce you final score 60% but gain the ability to call a goddess statue 10 times wherever you are, so you can buff certain status when you have extra levels to use.

I personally recommend this perk build and starting options:
  • Perks: +2 Strength, +2 Agility and Shield Master.
  • Buy the Guards sword at the start (its harder to find a good starting weapon than decent armor)
  • Activate the Force knight quest ALWAYS!
  • Write your first Diary page in front of the Dimensional Vault Guard and the Old Lady that tips you next town locations
  • Activate the Golden Goddess Altar [Not necessary, but will make things easier]

Recommendations with this build:
  • We brought our Shield Master perk, thus we should prioritize always having some sort of shield to make best use of it. The tourist can be quite squishy, so getting good armor and a shield should be on your mind.
  • Its a good idea to always have a few items to get you out of sticky situations, "Teleport pill", "Scroll of confusion", "Scroll of Lava", "Floating Drug", "Tentacle weed" and even "Magic bridge" or "Passageway Scroll" for when we need to go though mountains or water in a hurry, although after leveling up a bit the tourist will gain easy movement though them.
  • Another good item to have at hand once you have expanded your inventory slots a bit are "Glass armor" and "Scroll of Steel", this is because you will want extraordinary defenses at special times when you WANT to be surrounded by enemies while writing your travel journal.
  • Avoid killing animals and cause the Jade group to hunt you down, the less enemies the better.
  • An early companion is great to have, if you prefer, you can select one of the starting special campaigns that already have a pre-selected companion at the start and sacrifice one of the Agility+ perks for Charisma+ to recruit. Albert and Dosey are excellent

Writing the Journal efficiently
There is a few things you must also know regarding the journal and how to more easily fill it up.

Once a day

You can use the command to "Write on the Journal" only once per day, so you better make the best of it. Calculate if you will be able to reach the next important town/dungeon before the day passes.

If you have the automatic writing option active (it is by default) and you haven't used your writing action for that day, it will automatically use it for you once you change days to avoid wasting it.

How the Journal is divided and balancing pages

The journal is divided in three different sections [Town] [Campaign] [Labyrinth].
YOU HAVE TO BALANCE HOW MANY PAGES YOU HAVE ON EACH!
The difference between the section with the lowest amount of pages and the one with the highest amount of pages shouldn't exceed 50 pages.
Keeping the journal balanced between these 3 sections makes you get a double page bonus.
Usually Town pages are harder to get, so its a good idea to prioritize getting town pages when you find towns on your way.

For example, lets say you have the next distribution when you read the Journal (hotkey 2 - Read the Travel Journal):
Campaign pages: 13 - Labyrinth pages: 60 - Town pages: 30
This way you will still receive the double bonus since the difference between the highest (Labyrinth pages) and the Lowest (Campaign pages) is equal or less than 50.

How pages are added and how to juice more pages per write

Pages are added depending on the location you are at the moment of writing, and extra pages are added sometimes when you level up or when you eliminate a monster, thus the "Campaign" section is the easiest to fill because its the more abundant.

The number of pages also depends on how many NPCs or enemies are around you when you start writing (hotkey 3 - Write the Travel Journal).

Example:
Starting town while next to only ONE NPC (4 Pages, normal difficulty):

Starting town while next to TWO NPCs (8 Pages, normal difficulty):

And the more around the better, it gets big exponentially. Example:
3 Enemies surrounding us in the fields (32 Pages, normal difficulty):

So you can end up writing 100-200 pages at once if the conditions are right. For example, those mini-dungeons filled with 8-9 dogs in a closed wall are great to set yourself up to be surrounded by 5-6 of them at once if you make good use of your Awakening skill.

That is why having a strong armor and shield and even defense spells/scrolls is a good idea, because you sometimes will want to be surrounded by enemies while writing the Journal. "Teleport pills" are great for escaping after writing it and being surrounded. "Confusion scrolls" are also great for escaping or buying time while setting yourself up to be surrounded by as many enemies as possible.

If you can learn the force power "Phalanxn" from the NPC " Fortune-teller Auris" take it also to reduce your risk of getting mobbed to death.

Your Awakening command is a great tool to setup yourself to be surrounded by many enemies while writing your journal without dying and having a chances to escape/eliminate them, so use it very sparingly.

Follow the leader

Towns are usually the hardest one to get many pages at once because NPCs rarely sit close together, so having quick agility is good not only to escape hard enemies, but also to setup enemies into following you into a town and use them to increase the bonus of the pages you receive, like so:

2 Enemies + 1 NPC surrounding us in a mini-town (24 Pages, normal difficulty):

Save often

Saving is important, specially just before you try some crazy stunt where you try to get yourself surrounded by 3 or more enemies in a Labyrinth/Dungeon and that will quite possibly get you killed.

Try to save often and buy save crystals if you can afford them so your efforts thus far don't go to waste, make good use of the Force Knight shrines to recover, I recommend only activating the first shrine and never activate any more, so that every time you visit the shrine, there is 3 dark knights and the Shrine NPC which you can use to boost up on Town or Campaign bonus pages.
[Spoilers] Complete Knowledge Epilogue Secret Info
Once you complete the Tourist's Journal, you will get an special epilogue showing many of the game secrets (which you probably won't know, unless you already read them in a different guide for unlocking endings, characters, classes, etc...).

Once you obtain it, you can check this epilogue any time you want again after buying it for 600 hero points (just die and in the end menu select to Use hero points -> Unlock View Journal credits)

I will share screenshots with all the info in the epilogue here for reference, but be warned it will spoil some of the game secrets, in case you want to find them by yourself without help from others:
