There is a number of sci-fi 4X strategy games out there, but Distant Worlds 2 is one of very few games that can truly be called a space simulator grand strategy. Distant Worlds 2 is all about exploration, resource management, trade, diplomacy, and war, making it a truly grand experience indeed. What I love about it is the fact that the game goes so deep in exploring every part of governing, while at the same time making things a tad bit easier for the player, by combining truly deep mechanics, with automation systems, meaning you can micromanage as little or as much as you possible want.

Distant Worlds 2 also offers some of the coolest and most cinematic space battles I've ever seen, and because of how the game works, they feel really organic and real every time.
