Downloading the Port
First off, where can I download the port? Well you first need to click here to download it off ModDB: https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-dreamcast/
(Preview of the site on Image 1)

What do I do next? Next you click the download button
(as seen in Image 2).
Download it to your main downloads folder if you want.

Locating your Half-Life Directory
Where's my Half-Life Folder at?
After that, you go to your main Half-Life 1 folder (you will need a copy of Steam Half-Life 1 for this), the easiest way to find yours is by going to the Half-Life Library page, then clicking the little gear icon seen in Image 3.
Then hover over Manage and click Browse Local Files
(as seen on Image 4).
A file explorer window should open up and it should look something like this.
(See Image 5)
Next, right click on the File Explorer icon and click where it says File Explorer, and click it.
(See Image 6)
This second Window will be used in a second, hang tight.
Locating your Downloaded File
Then it will open another window of File Explorer. Go to where you downloaded your Half-Life Dreamcast zip. It should be called "HalfLife_Dreamcast_v11.1.rar".
You will need something like 7-Zip (my personal favorite) to decompile/extract the .rar. (You can download 7-Zip from it's website here: https://www.7-zip.org/ ) (Make sure to download the correct versions depending on if you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit PC.) Next we will look into extracting it.
Extracting and Placing
Next once it's all downloaded, extract it. (if you are using 7-Zip, extract by clicking on the .rar, then right click on it and select "7-Zip", then hit Extract files. Can be seen on Image 7.)

Once it is done, open the extracted folder, there should be a folder named "hldc". (See Image 8.)

Then pull up the other File Explorer window you have of the Half-Life Directory. Then drag and drop the "hldc" folder into the "Half-Life" Directory.
(You would put it in here.)
Running the Game
"Now what, I wanna play it!" you may say. Well there is one more step! Next you need to completely close Steam. You can do this by finding the Steam icon on your taskbar. Right click on it and click "Exit".
(See Image 9.)
Then just reopen Steam. Go to your Library, it should now be there!
(See Image 10.)
If for some reason it doesn't show up in the list, Search for it in the search bar. If it still doesn't show up, you did something wrong.
Time to Play!
Now that it's there, just hit the giant "PLAY" button. The game should boot up, and you should hopefully know how to play the game from there!
What's different from the original
There are various map edits and texture changes from the original. There are also new variants of "HD Models" for different things. Here are some images that show some differences pulled from the ModDB page here:

  • New Gordon Model

  • Complete Map Change

  • New Vortigaunt Model

  • New Gina Cross Model

  • New Zombie Model

  • On a Rail Map Change

  • New HEV Suit Model

If you want to see some of the most notable changes, go back to the ModDB link here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-dreamcast/ and look at the images there!
