KNS Yossarian DD9-15

The Yossarian is a modified ship of the Illustris-class destroyers replacing the twin 138mm guns with single 152mm ones. The 152mm required different mountings and spacing. Although the gunhouse is of similar size, it is located farther aft relative to the center of rotation requiring a larger arc clearance. Additionally, they were also slightly taller requiring a barbette for turret #1 while a raised deck for turret # 4 and 5. The superfiring turrets had space to compensate and did not require such an extension.
Another result was that turret #1 was moved forward by 1 meter and turret #5 was shifted to starboard by 1 meter. The direction Turret #4 faced was also changed to face aft instead of forward.
The aft fire control direction was moved forward slightly to enable space for turret #3 to rotate.

Overall the navy found that the 152mm were extremely potent at punching through turret armor and disabling them due to its penetration. It was also found to be more capable at taking down fast and high flying aircraft due to its stopping power. However overall, it offered less firepower than the 138mm due to slower rates of fire and fewer barrels. The single 152mm mount however was actually cheaper than the twin 138mm. Additionally, the larger caliber guns may prove more potent against cruisers where as the firepower loss compared to the 138mm is mostly felt when facing lightly armored ships like destroyers.
