Longhorn Class 450 Light Gunboat

The Longhorn Class Model 450, is the latest in Northeast Heavy Industries' combative solutions. A part of NHI's new wave of state of the art warships meant to bring the company back up to par with its competitors.
The LC-450 is a lightweight and simple to construct warship meant to be easily fabricated en masse to support a growing need for force multipliers. Using design specifications of rival ship manufacturers as a foundation, NHI has created a ship, that despite its light weight and simple construction, can still provide the firepower to spearhead an assault, defend assets, or simply act as a deterrent for would be assailants.

@Thordor12 You ever think, just maybe, possibly, that certain models of ships/vehicles are meant to fulfill a particular role and not based solely on personal need/ability; while also possibly needing to make trade-offs in order to make it practical.

Powerful forward thrust = High speed for blockade running (meaning brakes not priority.)
Artillery only = "Endgame" resources = extensive exploring and established presence needed.
No airlock system = Gunboats are cheap. Don't like it? Make your own upgrades.
Total = Fast response ship for a well established faction that needs a cheap and reliable ships.

Don't bash something because your situation or position does not support a particular model of craft. Its designed for a purpose, don't force it to become something it was not meant to be, play to its strengths.

Hey, this is a cool ship, but it has a couple of downsides to me.
- Forwards facing thrust is absolutely atrocious, the main thrust propels this thing way too fast and the ship cannot really slow down appropriately, the only compensation is the quick gyro response allowing you to 180 in order to slow down.
- "Artillery only" setup, I currently play on a planet, meaning no uranium, that means I'm unable to really produce any artillery shells at all, a mix of artillery/assault cannon would be better. Potentially even some tertiary defenses in form of autocannons/gatling turrets for close in support.
- The lack of an actual airlock/pressurization, right after the sliding doors there's a passage that could be converted into an airlock. In the roof of the deck there's also enough space left to include an air vent (I know you could just go into the seat and get air that way, but still, you can potentially have a few passengers in the back who'd have to remain in an unpressurized space)

This is a good ship i have 2 now escorting my main ship/mobile base along side one of my older frigate designs and working well so far against reavers and corrupt

Punches up quite well at range, but the minimal armor and point-defenses don't do it any favors if a fast-attack craft manages to catch it from the side while it is artillarizing other targets. Still, it makes for a decent low-cost long-range fire-support, well done.

this little ship can obliterate anything thing it comes across, from little pirate drones all the way to a reaver ship, because of its armor and weapons its quite awesome
