Mr. Monopoly

Mr. Monopoly’s gameplan revolves around collecting cash by damaging opponents, and spending that cash on his FSpecial and Properties. NSpecial allows you to use the dice as projectiles, as well as granting additional perks if you roll doubles. Monopolize your stage presence by buying properties, then buying houses and hotels for them to really cause some chaos!

This move has Mr. Monopoly creates a property underneath him, similar to the properties that are in actual Monopoly. Up to 2 can be placed onstage at a time. Each property costs $100. If you don’t have enough, Mr. Monopoly will shrug his shoulders.

Properties can damage opponents who are standing on them or come in close contact if they are in hitstun: but they won’t take damage if they are moving on it, similar to how properties only collect rent if someone directly lands on them in Monopoly.

Once both properties have been placed, you can now start to buy houses. Press DSpecial while standing on your own property to buy a House for $40 to place it on your property. Houses increase the damage and knockback of your property. Once you’ve bought 4 Houses, you can then buy a Hotel, which increases the knockback as well as stuns opponents!

Properties do have counterplay, however. As mentioned above, they can only damage opponents who aren’t moving or are in hitstun, so it’s easy to just walk over them and not get hit. Properties also get downgraded to having no Houses when parried if any Houses or Hotels are present, and will completely vanish if there aren't any Houses or Hotels on the Property. All properties will also vanish if Mr. Monopoly is K.O.ed, so watch out!

Properties will also gradually lose their Houses if left idle for too long.

Neutral Special comes in the form of rolling the dice, just like at the start of your turn in Monopoly! Each dice has a random value from 1 to 6, and its damage reflects this. They also deal low knockback and hitstun.

Once both of the dice have landed, they will momentarily vanish. If the values match, you’ve just rolled a Double! Mr. Monopoly’s movement speed will temporarily increase as a result, as well as being able to get more cash from opponents if you hit them at all. If you roll 3 Doubles in a row, Mr. Monopoly will go to Jail! While in Jail, you lose access to all of your attacks except USpecial as well as lowered movement speed. You can use get out of Jail early by waiting out the timer OR using Up Special (which changes while in Jail to Bail), but it’ll cost you as much as buying a property, so spend your cash wisely!

Mr. Monopoly tosses a bag of hard earned cash above him as a projectile. You can angle the projectile by holding either up or down during startup.

This move costs $40 to use. Not having that amount will cause an animation to play and put the move on a brief cooldown.

If the moneybag lands on one of your own properties, it will upgrade the property by 1 House (or upgrade it to a Hotel if there is already max Houses present)! It won’t upgrade properties further if they have a Hotel on them.

Perform this move while on your own properties to throw them in order to reposition your strategy!

Take a private jet to Boardwalk! …or whether Mr. Monopoly decides to fly. Mr. Monopoly will take out the plane token to rise upwards. This functionally is similar to Snake’s Up Special. While rising, you can use any aerial or do an airdodge, but whiffing an aerial or going the full distance will put you into pratfall.

Other Noteworthy Moves:

Some of Mr. Monopoly’s moves utilize the board game tokens as attacks! Jab 2 uses the Shoe as a powerful attack that could potentially take stocks, Back Air uses the Iron as a quick aerial that deals good damage and knockback with above-average combo potential and Up Strong uses the Dog (or rather, the Dog uses Mr. Monopoly) to jump and strike anyone above Mr. Monopoly!

The Race Car piece takes the place of Mr. Monopoly’s Dash Attack! This move has Mr. Monopoly drive forward at fast speeds, then he hops out of it during endlag. This move goes off ledges and ends early if you land the initial hitbox of it. Start this move while on a property to drive even faster!

In place of a traditional Down Strong, Mr. Monopoly uses the Community Chest to attack by pulling it out, slamming it down and opening it. This move’s first hitbox can spike opponents (with weak knockback), allowing you to either drag them down to the ground or send them flying towards the bottom blastzone. The second hitbox then sends them upward with strong knockback. This move also has a unique cash multiplier on hit, so opponents will yield more cash than usual when hit by this move!
