From what I can tell, the mod only replaces sprite files, and doesn't have any lua or xml, so I doubt it's possible to customize in-game.

The best way for now would be to go into the mod folder and delete the pngs of whatever effects you don't want to disappear.

also the floor stains or whatever from stuff like dirty mind cause a lot of lag

The mod does make some things look a little weird. Poop enemies just popping out of existence when you kill them, it's a little awkward to see no puff cloud when enemies spawn so they just... appear, and I do miss the clouds of dust that bosses kick up sometimes. I kind of wish we could customize what can and can't appear or something.

Despite that though, this mod is a must have for heavily modded playthroughs, or even just Fiend Folio alone. Despite saying it doesn't work with Fiend Folio (Which is partially true), it DOES help the performance. Not 100%, but it's FAR more enjoyable with this mod. There's definitely less lag, and the framerate doesn't dip nearly as low.

My computer can run vanilla and tons of other mods just fine, but for some reason, Fiend Folio just completely makes the game chug along in certain rooms (Fiend Folio HATES the Depths and Utero for some reason). This mod was super helpful to ensure that I get a more genuine Fiend Folio experience. :]
