To Get Rid of the Next Generation Update...
By LORD VADER
Friends, if you, like me, want to get rid of the attempt to destroy the Witcher 3 under the name of the Next Generation Update, this guide is for you. When I looked at the discussions on the community page of Witcher 3, I saw that most people did not want to do this update and were looking for ways to get rid of the update. It felt so good to realize that we have shared feelings because I thought I was the only one who didn't want to do this update. Anyway, if you think like me, you can completely prevent your game from being ruined with the following method.

What You Need To Do Is Very Simple...
  • As a first step, we make a setting that will prevent Steam from running every time our computer is turned on. This is because if Steam opens automatically, our game may be accidentally updated without our consent.

  • Click on Steam in the upper left corner of the screen.

  • Then click where it says settings.

  • We click on the Interface section. Turn off the setting I circled in red. Thus, Steam will no longer open automatically when your computer is turned on.

  • Then click on Witcher 3 in your library. You will see the settings icon on the right of the screen, click there.

  • Click on Properties.

  • You should come to the Updates section and select the setting I showed on the screen. The update will be started only when the game is running.

Now I will explain why we made these settings...
  • Steam, unfortunately, does not allow us to turn off updates. Therefore, we have to create this option ourselves. If you disconnect the internet from your computer, the update will not be downloaded. If you want to play The Witcher 3 as you wish without updating, turn off your internet connection before opening Steam. Without updating the Witcher 3 offline You can play in a way. Of course, you can log in to Steam online, but do not try to start Witcher 3 while online. As I said, if you are going to play the game, turn off your internet connection and run the game. In this way, we got rid of the update.
Closing...
  • Thank you for reading this far. I would appreciate it if you leave an award. If you have any questions, please specify them in the comments, and I will answer them.

You can just go to the game properties of Witcher 3 in steam, select "Betas" and choose classic version 1.32. No need to disable internet access.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this but have at it. Mod compatibility have already been highlighted by CDPR and they've posted whether the most popular mods will work out of the box. Might as well just download a gog copy instead of jumping through these hoops. No need to lie about "most" people not wanting the update. That's an absurd lie.

I own the game on GoG, and I already cached v1.31 with the v1.31 to v1.32 patch, hopefully this is just an update with possibility to play the old version

Honestly I can see the angle you are coming from, CD Projekt RED left a lot to be desired in the patching of Cyberpunk and it brings into question their capability nowadays.

There is something to be be said about this new trend of changing a game with mods reworked into the same game, without bringing a separate title onto the steam library, take for example the recent Skyrim "anniversary Edition" which brought only a few new implemented mods into the special edition we already had. I had to do to that the exact thing you show how to do here in order to save my mod list.

I will be entering this version of the game purely from a graphics viewing perspective, not planning on playing the whole game again and enjoying it.

Good Guide.

Cdp red will turn a 800+ mod compatible game into a 5 mod + 1 or 2 reskin mod compatible game at best. It's going to set back the modding community for a while.

People like to customize and play this game the way they want. I use 30 mods in this game. I even know that some people use as many as 700 mods. If you read the thoughts of the mod writers, you will see that they are against the next generation update. Because it is very difficult to adapt the mods made for the old generation to the new generation. they say that it is difficult and the effort that will be spent on it can be directed to completely renewing the game with the mod.

No, I don't have mental problems. I'm afraid that this update will bring new bugs and break mods, so I made such a guide. If everyone respects each other's opinion, it's okay. Please let's not be offensive to each other.
