Intro
Welcome to the ultimate Soldier guide. In this guide I am going to explain to you how to play Soldier in Team Fortress 2.
In short I hope to provide the information you need in order to create the ultimate soldier in TF2. I will be touching on all of the basic mechanics and strategies you will encounter while playing Soldier.
General tips and tricks
In this section I will explain the basics of soldier and how to complete the mission. Read ahead and enjoy. It's also a great time to check out my other guides, read all about the latest update in Soldier (3.3), and have a look at my best Team Fortress 2 matches on PC.

The soldier is a very powerful unit and is one of your best allies. You can use him to kill enemies or to take them out. He is very difficult to use, but you will have to do it. You are going to need to improve your aim and aim at all the enemies in a team while doing as much damage as possible. If you are not good at it, he might not work for you. I am going to show you how you can do this mission and what you need to know to get the most out of him.

As a soldier you are a heavy-armor class and must have boots and a helmet equipped before you can jump into a spawn room. You can acquire these items by jumping and landing in spawn rooms, chests and via TF2 auction house.

If you wanna play TF2 soldier effectivly, you will also need to learn how to aim your rockets.
He is the foremost Rocket Launcher soldier out there. So basically you're playing like an angry man who tried to explain himself to the wrong person. You like playing with sticks and having fun and all the soldiers will be screaming and yelling. However they will give you advice on how to do so.
You will find it very hard to die with Soldier. He is really easy to manage and can aim your bullets dead on with no problems at all. The only problem that I had with this game is that the environment was not completely created. It was cool, but it was a little hard to get used to. And I'm sure I'm the only one who thought about that, right? I know a lot of people who have heard about it, but only seen one replay.

You can play soldier impactivly. You will need to find a good team to play it. I'm sure you're wondering why. Well the game is free and you can download it without paying for anything. Just find a team who doesn't mind a free player. And you don't even need to have a team to play the game. I have heard of people playing it on their own.
Advanced mechanics: Rocket Jumps
And to play soldier effectivly, you will need to learn how to rocketjump. I played with a number of people in RocketJump. Sometimes we'd sneak into TF2 matches, sometimes we'd spam and jump in and harass for a few rounds. Sometimes we'd play TF2 multiplayer and accidentally make a bunch of rockets just to see what happens. If you want a brief summary of our origin story - it was pretty much just a series of nerdy and fun nights.
With the recent changes made to TF2 soldier's unlockable weapons, his playstyle has changed quite a lot. Before he used his Rocket Jump to rocketjump into a prone position on the spawn stage, after making a rocketjump he would rocketjump again into a standing position. As of the last patch he now keeps a rocketjump attached to his aim button. This has made his rocketjumping much harder to escape. Another feature of soldier's rocketjumping is that when a rocketjump hits the end of the trigger hole it releases a grenade which bounces towards the ceiling. This grenade not only goes into the ceiling but will be dodged by soldiers in the air and fired back at the shooter. With soldier's new rockets and rocketshots I would recommend taking a look at the Wiki's page for soldier's rocketjump as they break it down into two categories; rocketshots and rocketjumps.
Cosmetics
In terms of cosmetics, soldier has quite a lot of them. In this section I will help you to find the perfect drip so you may no longer appear fatherless.
Starting from the least masculine of the bunch, check out Tyrant’s Helmet. Also available is the Team Captain, albeit in TF2 TF2 soldier drops. Both are excellent drops and are therefore considered recommended. The Soldier’s stash still has not arrived so you should stay tuned.

Second from the left are the Head Prize (altough it is a all-class cosmetic, it's often worn by soldiers ). This is the most feminine looking of all the tributes, but it still provides good coverage, even if your ass isn't covered as much as the soldier in the desert. While most players like it for its feminine shape, I find it to be a little goofy for a soldier and as such I recommend it for soldier drops only.

The Dancing Doe is an amusing one with his feet being exposed. Be careful to wear layers to hide your private areas from those who have watched TF2 Soldier for the last 5 years. It has a hood but you will still be recognizable.

Facing towards the left from the start, the Spook specs have excellent contrast and reflects a lot of light. It is a popular choice because it can be worn with whatever skin color you prefer.

Immediately behind the Spook specs is the Lone Survivor. While I doubt it is as well done as the Spook specs (and if you can see it through the flame, well, that's amazing), it's still a great drop and still allows you to be seen through any drop.
On the right you will find the Shellmet followed by the Climbing Commander. Both drop in higher than average places, so you can find them fairly quickly if you know where to look. They are both available to be used with taunts, so if you are in need of a soldier to be dropped with an exclamation point, use the TF2 soldier and he will probably follow your commands to the letter.
End of the guide
And with that, I will conclude this guide. I hope I could help you with learning how to play soldier a little easier.

And one more thing: Happy birthday TF2!

To say thanks to TF2, I have added a file to TF2 that turns on hats with only one click. You can download it here: TF2 Hat Trick File.
