Gameplay
Basics
When optimizing your damage you need to take into account the following categories:
- Base damage
- Damage bonus
- Damage bonus against
- Critical strikes
- Vulnerabilities

These categories are additive within themselves but multiplicative with eachother.
Naturally we want to utilize all of them as much as possible and not focus to much on one at cost of others.

Base damage
It is comprised of the damage rolls on your weapons and signums, your offensive attribute (Contempt) and some passives and perks.

Damage bonus
This is the sum of all damage bonuses that apply to your skills.
- ranged/melee damage bonus
- AoE/single target damage bonus
- physical/heat/warp damage bonus
- plain damage bonus

Damage bonus against
This is the sum of all applying "damage bonus against" modifiers.
- damage bonus against debuffed
- damage bonus against bleeding
- damage bonus against shocked, slowed or stunned
...

Critical strikes
this comprises your chance to land a critical strike and how much bonus damage you get from critical strikes.
- Critical hit chance
- Critical hit strength
- Critical damage

Vulnerabilities
These are debuffs you apply to enemies that increase the damage they receive.
- physical/heat/warp vulnerability
- general vulnerability

Berserk tokens
Berserk token can be aquired through various means and you can stack up to 100 at a time.
They provide 5 suppression regen/sec, 4% damage bonus and 0.35% movement speed per token.
You will lose one token per second until you have none left.
Some relic enchants allow you to further augment the bonuses from berserk tokens, but more on that in the gear section.

Enrage tokens
Enrage tokens like berserk tokens can be aquired in many ways and stack up to 20.
They provide 8% damage bonus per token and you consume one token everytime you use a skill.
Like with berserk tokens you can further augment the bonuses enrage tokens provide with relic enchants on your gear.

Attack speed
All attacks have an animation that has to complete.
If your cooldown is lower than the duration of the animation, you are animation speed locked.
attack speed speeds up animations.

Supreme stats
Many stats have a soft and a hard cap.
Supreme stats allow you to exceed the soft cap up to the hard cap.
Gear
Weapons first:
This build uses Blessed Blade & Rod because its left click has pretty much the best combination of skill tags in the game and the right click provides mobility and decent single target damage.

Onslaught is a wide cone melee AoE attack that applies slow, shock, general vulnerability and bleed.
The heat aura psalm code doctrine is an obvious choice here because we are always in melee and it provides free damage and on-hit/crit procs.
The remaining sockets are filled in with an Uncreator psalm (better vulnerabilities) and a shard of your choice.
I went with Thunderbolt of Authority chance because it is decent damage and provides supreme movement speed.
The relic enchant is by far the best enchant in the game and massively outweighs any bonuses you could get from archeotech or morality versions of the weapon.
Thanks to heat aura and our primary attack being an AoE skill this enchant will be up almost all the time

Lets talk token generation:
Ideally you want an Eye of Insanity and a relic main implant with +15 berserk tokens on massacre bonus.
This will grant you up to 30 berserk tokens everytime you trigger a killstreak bonus (not just on massacre)
Note that there is no psalm code doctrine in the main implant because the individual bonuses from the psalms/shard outweigh any 3 psalm doctrine.

We will use the neural implant to generate our enrage tokens

If you don't have an Eye of Insanity roll +15 berserk tokens on massacre bonus on your neural implant and leave the enrage token part for later.

Augment your tokens with further bonuses:
I chose 2 signums with up to +5% damage bonus per berserk token, bringing the damage bonus from 4% to 14% per token.

The inoculator sports 20HP regen per second per berserk token to bolster our survivability

You also want as many yellow components as possible.
Between the HP regen and life drain you should never need to use your inoculator for healing.
The sororitas also gains +75% duration for yellow components from attribute points (see attribute section), making it even better.
I recommend flat damage bonus as we are already criting all the time, we are movement speed caped and animation speed locked on our cooldown reduction.

Purity seal with fear aura while in enrage state (at least one enrage token)

fear provides more suppression damage against affected enemies and more synergies from passives.

For the belt I strongly recommend Harbinger of Judgement (season 5) if you have access to it.

I only picked this banner to do the heroic deed (regaine HP from banners)
Feel free to pick the belt item of your preference.
If you don't have a Harbinger of Judgement, pick your prefered belt item as a relic and roll the fear aura on it.
Then roll HP regen per berserk token on the purity seal instead.
Alternatively you can get an archeotech belt with shock aura on it and swap the armour psalm code doctrine to "Causing Shock on an enemy creates an explosion dealing halved Damage and Shock to nearby enemies"

Only the armour left:

This also answers the question which morality you should pick.
Hint: PURITAN!! BURN THE HERETICS!
Enemy DoTs are by far the most common killer in end game.
An armour option that removes that thread is a pretty obvious choice.
Acts of Faith, Sacred Rites and Saintly Deeds
Acts of Faith
You will have at least two open slots for these.

Expurgation Sweep
Pull all the enemies to you so you can cleave them apart all at once.
Also +15% supreme movement speed.
by far the best one for the build.

Ardent Onslaught
Only take this for the passive bonus.
Attack speed will be important when you get decent amounts of cooldown reduction.

Bolts of Retribution
Good early game option or third act of faith if you run a holy censer in your belt slot
Mostly because of the passive effect allowing you to stack vulnerabilities faster.

Sacred Rites

Burning Devotion
It provides more damage and we don't really need the embodied saint form.

Saintly Deeds

Like I said, we don't really need the embodied saint form but if you want to use it, here are my recommended saintly deeds

Blessed Bolts
Basically shotguns burst shot.
Great AoE clear with build in crowd control.

Righteous Judgement
Insane boss killer.
If you want something big and nasty to disappear really quick.

Celestial Contempt
AoE vulnerability.
Passives
Warfare
Get the AoE increase for melee skill early on.
The damage against feared enemies is also nice.

Melee Combat
The vulnerability on crit is the main take here but the damage against slowed, shocked, stunned is also very good.

Area Effects
Almost all our damage (Onslaught and heat aura) is from AoE skills so this is the obvious pick.

Debuffs
You will apply so many debuffs that the keystone of this tree is very effective.
The bonuses to slow and shock and the added suppression damage round out the package.

Defense
Helps max out your defensive stats and the keystone is effective one-shot protection.

Physical Attacks
Damage bonus for Onslaught, damage bonus against bleeding and more debuffs to apply.

Critical Hits
While we don't really need the critical chance, the keystone is a worthy pick.
the critical strength and the 1% max HP on crit are pretty good, too.

Movement
All the cooldown reduction we can get.

Rest
You should have 5 points left to spend on what ever you like.
Go ham.
Perks
Mandatory

Stride of the Blessed
We want to go fast.
Close the gap between us and the enemy in as short of a time frame as possible.
30% supreme movement speed helps a lot.

Cull the Weak
probably the best damage perk in the game due to how little damage against bonuses you can get from other sources.

Options

Adhoc Subjugation
Stack heat and physical vulnerability even faster.

Blessing of Saint Victorious
If you are getting one-shot take this perk.

Persistent Attrition
More debuffs and a little more survivability due to misschance of blinded enemies.
Attributes
Contempt
suppression damage and attack speed are the good milestones but every point increases base damage.

Resolve
The first three milestone are really nice.
5% all resist
1% max HP on Kill
15% shield drain
The embodied saint part on the third milestone is not that important

Passion
Milestones 3 and 5 are the big ones.
5% movement speed as well as 10% maximum movement speed
75% increased duration for yellow inoculator components

FOr this season, disabling enemy HP regen is a very valid use of the points, since the harbingers regen a lot.

Most of the puritan passives only work against specific enemy factions. It's always better to take something that works against every faction.

I'm thinking about sticking three of those points into DOTs to kill enemy regeneration.

If they were any good I would have mentioned them in the guide.

What about the Puritan path's passive tree? I know you got 5 points left after taking everything here and all but I was thinking of taking all 7 of those. Are they viable?

I know pictures are nice but maybe reading the few lines below the picture helps

Any updates on this for s6? Since "Harbinger of Judgement" isn't available i've been running " When in Enraged state enemies within 5 metres are Shocked" on my belt, which seems to work pretty good with the enraged fear aura as well.

you can easily make any thing in game viable. you dont have to use heat aura it's just popular for speed farming
