The Albert Building
The Albert, formerly the Griswold Building, is a former office building named after architect Albert Kahn, located at 1214 Griswold Street in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. Kahn's design is in the Art Moderne architectural style, and is significant as an example of the architect's transition from Art Deco to Art Moderne. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is part of the Capitol Park Historic District.

The Albert Building was built in 1929 as an office building, on the former site of the Miles Theatre, and was later converted to residential use in the 1980s as a senior apartment building.

The Albert was renovated as of autumn 2014 converting the building to 127 market-rate apartments, with 1300 square metres of retail space on the building's ground floor.

This asset was commissioned by nicocn383 for his fictional city of Strathcona based on a mix of Seattle, WA and Vancouver, B.C. Essentially a rainy and green North American city on the Pacific coast.

A big "thank you" to nicocn383 for providing the excellent screenshots.

NOW WITH REMOVABLE SHOP LOGOS

RICO
Included with this asset is RICO compatibility which allows the building to function as a large office. If you subscribe to the Ploppable Rico Revisited mod this asset will appear in the RICO 'Offices' tab.

I've tried to make this asset as realistic as possible and therefore the geometry tri count is high and the textures large. The model has been optimised as much as possible without compromising the structure and detail of the original building. All of the texture elements have been created specifically for this asset in order for full control over the final look.

Please try this asset out and if there are any problems let me know in the comments below.

Any chance for a version without the shop signage? That would make it much easier to use in period city builds.

A beautiful rendering of a beloved building across the river from my hometown. This one has a very sad history though, when Dan Gilbert evicted a supportive housing space for seniors and those with disabilities. This building is beautiful, but it's also the ugliest picture of gentrification one could imagine: https://www.deadlinedetroit.com/articles/4721/meet_the_downtown_residents_who_say_they_are_being_pushed_aside_for_the_new_detroit
