To complete the robbery, your main goal is not to rob them but find evidence against the shopkeeper and then make him give you access you to the loot. There are a total of four shop robberies in Red Dead Redemption 2:

The first shop robbery takes place in Valentine. The shop of the Valentine doctor is the one to be robbed. It can be robbed any time after Chapter 2.

After reaching the building go around back to reach a security door.

Approach it and knock on it and a guard will tell you to go away. Now you know something illegal might be happening here.

Now that you have some evidence go to the doctor and aim your weapon at him then press upper D-pad.

The doctor will confess and take you to the security door and open it. Behind it you will meet some gamblers who will try to kill you.

Kill them and the woman too and loot the place for money and a revolver. After looting get out and ride your horse out of the area as quickly as possible.

The second robbery takes place in Saint-Denis. The shop of the gunsmith is the one to be robbed. It can be robbed any time after Chapter 2.

Head to the shop and enter it to go to the backroom. Knock on the security door and the guard will tell you to leave.

Now having the evidence go to the shopkeeper and threaten him by aiming the gun and pressing upper D-pad.

He will open the door for you and as soon as he does beat the guard so that he tells you the location of the gambling room.

Now you have to make your way to the third floor. Once on the floor go to the second room to meet gamblers.

Take the money on the table and threaten the players near you for the location of the vault.

Open it to get more money and rewards and get out there as soon as possible.

The third robbery takes place in Rhodes. The shop of the gunsmith is the one to be robbed. It can be robbed any time after Chapter 2.

Head to the shop and go around to the side to find a boy calling for help from the basement.

Now that you have the evidence go and threaten the shopkeeper same way as before.

He will open the door and lead you to the boy. Now you will understand the story of why the shopkeeper kidnapped the boy.

Kidnapping a child because he looks like your lost son isn’t a good excuse.

Shoot the chains to let him go free and loot the lootbox and get the weapon to get out of here.

The fourth and the last shop robbery takes place in Strawberry. The general store in the town is the one to be robbed.

It can be robbed any time after Chapter 2. Head to the general store and look below the front porch.

You will find a window and through it you can see him producing moonshine.

Having the evidence confront the shopkeeper and threaten him same way as before. He will take you to the basement after some argument.

After seeing that there isn’t much to loot in the basement threaten the shopkeeper again so that he tells you the location of the stashed loot. Take it and get out of there.
