I. Requirements : Moguri Mod and Memoria Engine with 60fps feature
For users with existing install of Moguri mod.
DO NOT DELETE anything for now. you only need the latest version of Memoria with 60fps features. we will do stuff in the next section.
Memoria Engine - geit from Here [github.com]
- it is the Memoria.Patcher.exe

If you are new to modding the game
The latest version of
Moguri Mod - get it form Here [www.nexusmods.com]
Memoria Engine - geit from Here [github.com]
- it is the Memoria.Patcher.exe

Place these downloaded files on a safe/ easily accessible folder ⠀⠀⠀
II. For Existing Install of Moguri Mod
This what you need to do if you have an existing install of Moguri
1 ) back up the following files
FINAL FANTASY IX\x64\FF9_Data\resources.assets
FINAL FANTASY IX\x64\FF9_Data\sharedassets2.assets
place them somewhere secure where you can copy them easily.
[Purpose]
this step has raised so many eyebrows but for everyone's information this step is necessary if you want to keep the hd texture of the overworld maps : whole world and mist continent when viewing it by pressing select. as well as the hd title screen and gameover screen.
In the future this might not be necessary anymore but atm if you care about things looking crisp for everything you have to do this. if you are not bothered by low ress world and mist continent map then skip this.
2 ) Delete or Rename the memoria.ini file generated by the moguri mode to something else.

3 ) Navigate on the local files menu on steam and VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES. this will replace all files patched by moguri mod

4 ) Place Memoria.patcher.exe on the game root and click to run it .

5 ) once the patch is complete try launch game . Your Game Launcher should look like this now

6 ) click Install mods and the mod manager window will open. tick the boxes of the components of moguri mod you want to activate .

6.1 ) Launch the game once. this is just for checking if the game is still running. close it for nw

7 ) Remember the two files we backed up earlier ? there two:
FINAL FANTASY IX\x64\FF9_Data\resources.assets
FINAL FANTASY IX\x64\FF9_Data\sharedassets2.assets
Copy the back-ups you made. paste and replace them on the directory
FINAL FANTASY IX\x64\FF9_Data\

8 ) Open the memoria.ini file on the game root using any text editor and it should look like this configure stuff to your heart' content . but do make sure that
TileSize = 64

9 )the rule of thumb in configuring the settingsFPS of the game is to understand that the SettingFPS should always be higher than SettingTPS except for the menus.
Example :
BattleFPS = 60
BattleTPS = 20
FieldFPS = 60
FieldTPS = 30
WorldFPS = 60
WorldTPS = 30
MenuFPS = 60
MenuTPS = 60

X) then at is it Enjoy FF iX with Moguri Mod and 60fps
III. For New Install of Moguri Mod
I was originally planning to write a much more detailed means of extracting files from the zip file of mogur mod... I ended up realizing that is too complicated so here we are at risk of making my self look lazy but i dont want to repeat myself so here we go.

1 ) Extract the files from the zip file you have dowloaded from the nexus website
2 ) Install the the moguri mod by clicking the executable file
3 ) Run the game once and close it
4 ) Now go BACK SECTION II and follow Everything there :)

Randomly decided to check the FFIX community page and discovered through your guide that it's possible to play this game at 60fps... Thank you so much for the guide, it worked perfectly :isaac::isaac::isaac::isaac:

@jase thank you for reporting. devs are already discussing it

When I start up Moguri 8.3.0 with the latest Memoria patcher, some of the bgm starts too early. For example, the cutscene where the play begins for I Want to be your Canary, the battle music plays on top of the cutscene music.

Do mods like this (or any) mess with the achievements? IDK why the achievements matter to me. they didn't exist when i was a kid lol.

Would be pretty cool if it were explained somewhere what this does outside of just being a 60FPS patch

Did this on PC version in March 2024 - worked perfectly. Great guide, thank you.

@rickyBO89 just retick the widescreen support and select any 16:9 resolution on the resolution box

I've one issue: the proposed guide removes the 16:9 widescreen support of the moguri mod. how can it be brought back?
