Bertrand the Brigand & the Bowmen of Bergerac

Description
This mod adds Bertrand the Brigand (as a Legendary Lord), his companions Hugo le Petit and Gui le Gros, and other brigand units (such as Faceless and Herrimaults) to the base game Bretonnian factions.

Lore
Originally a poor peasant in the domain of Bergerac, Bertrand was forced into a life of adventure when the Baron de Bergerac left on a Grail quest and never returned. A skillful bowman, Bertrand trained the peasants of Bergerac to defend themselves from orc raiders. The remaining nobles, in their arrogance and lust for power, summoned a horrible flapping monster that destroyed the castle of Bergerac and ravaged the surrounding town. Bertrand and his trained bowmen (including Gui le Gros and Hugo le Petit) slew the monster, and rescued the Baron's daughter and remaining peasants. Having no castle or town left to defend, Bertrand and his companions now travel the land, righting wrongs, fighting orcs, and defending peasants.

Mechanics/Units
Bertrand, Hugo, and Gui are recruitable for any Bretonnian faction. They are added to your recruitment pool the first load or start of a campaign with this mod installed. They can be recruited by the AI (Couronne) if the player is not playing as a Bretonnian faction. Bertrand and his companions are only added to the available pool, so the AI may not recruit them if they already have too many armies or not enough money. This mod is saved game compatible.

Most Brigand and Herrimault units can be recruited from the Brigand Camp building chain, or can be upgraded from peasants using the warband upgrade mechanic.

Unique units added in this mod:
- Bertrand the Brigand: (Legendary Lord ) Leader of the merry men, and expert bowman. Buffs ranged bowmen
- Gui le Gros: (Legendary Hero) Known for his consumption of food and wine, Gui supports his fellows by serving them wine
- Hugo le Petit: (Legendary Hero)
- Bowmen of Bergerac: Herrimault (RoR) Bertrand's personally trained bowmen. Count as "merry men" for campaign buffs and have free upkeep with Bertrand after getting the correct skill

- Crownless Lord: Equipped with a bow, the Lord version of Faceless Hero, has access to a horse at level 12
- Crownless Lord (Greatsword): Does not have a bow, but instead wields a 2-handed sword. Has a different skill tree and abilities

- Brigand Waylayers - Fast polearm infantry unit with stalk that has the 'Waylaid!' contact effect the slows enemies and reduces melee defense and armor
- Brigand Écorcheurs (flayers) - Fast dual-sword infantry unit with stalk, anti-infantry, and armor piercing
- Aspirant Hoods - Elite ranged/melee hybrid unit. Very small unit size, but higher health and area attacks

Check out my other mods:
-Bertrand the Brigand and the Survivors of Bergerac: A campaign mod that adds a new faction for Bertrand, The Survivors of Bergerac
-A Mixu's Faction Unlocker compatible version: Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Mixer Submod)
-Brigand Encampments: enable the camp building mechanic for Bertrand and Crownless Lords.
-Brigand Encampments Knightless: same as above but cannot recruit knights from camps

Compatibility/Misc
Includes all the units from my previous mod Bretonnian Brigands and Bretonnian Friar.

**** If you were previously using one of these mods, you will need to unsubscribe from them to use this mod. This mod contains all of the same content, so you will be able to continue a campaign you started with one of those mods. If you subscribe to this mod while also subscribed to one of those mods, your game may crash. ****

No other mods are needed to use this mod.

NOT Compatible with:
- Shaman for Albion
- some mods that change the appearance of units used in the mod (mostly Bretonnia and Empire).

Compatible With:
- Immersive Bretonnia Upgrade
- Warband Upgrade Extended (All Races + Unique UI)
- Lily's Bretonnia Overhaul: Definitive Edition - Immortal Empires
- should be compatible with mods that change/add new factions to Bretonnia, such as Mixu's.

This mod uses scripts to add Bertrand and companions (and their unique items) to player factions. If another mod crashes Lua for some reason, this will prevent the Legendary Characters, their items, and the RoR from being added, but everything else should function normally.

Thanks to BAGHolder for the UI framework for the warband upgrade system.

Why are my units not replenishing? I am in the camp, I am in captured town... nothing. Says Local effects. I am in Bretonnia.

I deleted my submod, since the compability was already incorporated in the Submod hub for Dirty Dan's Upgrades.

Maffers, are you okay if I do a "Blessings of the Lady" submod?

Sometimes steam doesn't download updates to workshop items correctly, so you could try to unsubscribe and the resubscribe to redownload the mod.

It still seems to be broken - getting a CTD when I start the game. Saying invalid records

Bertrand, Hugo, Gui, and the Bowmen of Bergerac were in the 5th Edition Army Book for Bretonnia. Brigands were in the 3rd/4th edition army books. Herrimaults/Faceless are from the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition book. Crownless Lords are just another name for Faceless (also WF:RPG). Aspirant Hoods are an extrapolation from the description of how Faceless come about (they are trained by other Faceless from the ranks of Herrimaults). Gui is based on Friar Tuck, so Friars are just generic versions of Gui.
