Intro
This is just a basic guide to get your game working to a playable state. I don't understand what or why these other guides are making this so complicated but here is step by step instructions of how I fixed the sound and resolution. Don't download any files from people you don't know just because it's a "Steam Guide" and they promise it will fix something. In most cases, it doesn't fix anything and will most likely add new problems. The sound can be fixed by changing the compatibility to Windows XP SP3 and the resolution issue can be fixed in game simply by switching to window mode with the mouse on, changing the resolution, then switching back to full screen.
No Sound After Plane Crash Fix
Depending on how you have your installation set up, the location may be different but this should be default regardless if you're on a 32 or 64 bit system.

Resolution Fix without crash
This problem may have been limited to my hardware but I had a problem with my game crashing when I tried to adjust the resolution when in full screen. I had to disable my controller because the graphics options are different with it on. Go to Options, Graphics Options, turn Windowed Mode on (or press ALT+Enter), adjust the Resolution to the size that fits your screen, click Apply, turn Windowed Mode off (or press Alt+Enter), then turn your controller back on. I was unable to adjust the brightness. Mine is stuck in high but I've read some people have theirs stuck in the lowest. I also read it's a hardcoded problem. Download mods at your own risk.
