After spending nearly an hour on this quest and getting most of my games to a draw..

Here is the workaround I found:
1) go here: http://www.javascripter.net/games/xo/xo.htm
2) select size 10 on field, hit new game
3) make a first move as if you are an opponent X (back in game opponent moves first)
4) use O to counter robot moves back in the game
---
so back the app - you place moves on behalf of your opponent with X's and back in game replicate moves with O's

AI to beat the AI

Worked from the first try for me

Well they say a great defense is always the great offense. block all possible moves of AI while attacking at the same time that would put the AI at a defense blocking all your moves. And you will win eventually.

tbh i just played as agressive as possible, just making my own lines, not even looking what my opponent was doing and it worked like every 3rd time

I never had much trouble here. I tried to make it so my moves would make multiple possible lines, and beat it 2nd try i think

I quit playing this P.O.S. because of this CRAPPY Tic-Tac-Toe. I knew SOMETHING was screwy with the 10 sided square. At LEAST 50 times I had gotten to STALEMATE only by blocking every move the computer made, eventually missing a move in the mess, only to lose AGAIN! NOW, finding that I have to drive a computer AGAINST this Piece Of S#!7 game to get farther along only makes me want to start a CLASS ACTION SUIT against the jerk programmer that ROBBED everyone that has NEVER gotten beyond this point in the game. Pure PROFIT! This was meant to stop most people RIGHT HERE in the game. I for one will never buy anything this guy has a hand in, or the companies he works for/with. EVER. Not after running into this, having to run another computer to solve a CASUAL game? What gives? What CRAP!

I think your best bet is to try for a diagonal, kind of like the art shows on the right there. You got your pieces in the center and they are kind of trying to block your movement but that also means they aren't progressing themselves.

Make sure to keep toward the center so you don't have an issue with running into walls and not being able to get a 5 in a row.
