Warning
This game is more interesting, if you play it without a guide. You are supposed to die, learn from your mistakes and try again. An adventure is exploring the world without knowing what's going to happen next.
Goal and Road map
Goal
The aim of the guide is to get all achievements in a single play-through.
This excludes two of the four achievements associated with the Sokaran civil war.
It is impossible to get all four in the same play-through.

The guide assumes, that you are playing on Ironman difficulty, in order to get Iron Adventurer.

Road map
First, the guide will get all achievements in the base game. Then the guide will get all achievements in the Akatsurai-DLC. However, as there are some achievements that can potentially harm your character, e.g. force you to change your class, these will be done at the very end.

If you are interested in which chapter a certain achievement is done, consult Appendix 1.

If you already have most achievements and are simply looking to complete a couple of specific ones, then following this guide may be ineffective. In that case, you should look up the specific achievements in Kurufinwes excellent guide.

If you are only interested in getting Iron Adventurer, then I suggest following my guide dedicated to that specific achievement.
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2896683693
Notes and optional paragraphs
The guide is riddled with notes and optional paragraphs. These contain background information and explain why the guide is proceeding the way it does. If you are not interested in this information, you can simply ignore all of it.

Optional: Why does the guide take such an inefficient route?
If you follow the guide, then there is no way that you will ever die. Even the worst dice rolls imaginable, will not result in death. Further, the guide generally avoids using resurrection deals and blessings.

Optional: Why does the guide not use blessings or resurrection deals?
Blessings cannot ensure your survival. If there is a chance to fail a check, then there is a chance to fail it twice in row. Further, I think that resurrections deals go against the idea of an "Ironman" run.
Spoilers
Spoilers
You should seriously consider playing the game on your own. This guide will pretty much spoiler everything. There will be no further spoiler warnings or spoiler tags.

Version
This guide is optimized for version 1.1.4 of the game. Thus, some things might be slightly different in the future. In a worst case scenario, this could result in the death of your character.

Mistakes
This is a long guide and there could be an oversight. I tested the guide multiple times, but that doesn't mean that it is flawless. If you find a mistake or somehow die, then please post a comment.

(Note: I don't really care about spelling mistakes or grammar flaws. As I am not a native English speaker, there are probably hundreds of them.)
Chapter 0: Character Creation
Starting Class
This guide will work independent of which starting class you choose.

Characters Customization
As far as I am aware, none of the choices make a difference.
(Note: In the books, there was at least one difference based on gender. Using the unicorn event in Uttaku, female characters could get +1 Magic and +1 Charisma. Male characters could only get +1 Magic. This is not the case in the game. Both genders get +1 Magic and +1 Charisma.)
Chapter 1: First Steps in Golnir
Isle of Druids
You start out at the Isle of Druids. Skip the intro, follow to the Obsidian Stones and travel through the archway to Wishport.

Secrets of the Deep
Leave Wishport using the East Road. Nothing bad can happen here.
(Note: If you get the Knights of Nagil, then refuse to become an initiate. If you accidentally accept, then go to Metriciens and renounce your faith at the Temple of Nagil. This is free.)

From Metriciens move west to Clifftop and investigate the fort. Open the right-hand door. You will gain 300 shards and two items. Pick them up and leave the fort.
(Note: You should never investigate this fort again. All future outcomes are negative.)

From Clifftop move north to The Hinterlands. There are two noteworthy events there:
  • 6 - 7 Pipe music at night
  • 8 - 12 Burial mounds at dusk
You are looking for the pipe music event. If you get the burial mounds instead, just select "press on" and reroll the area via Clifftop.
(Note: Investigating the burial mounds would start a fight against a Barrow Wight. The fight is very difficult without better equipment, so you should avoid it.)

Once you have gotten the correct event, move back down to Clifftop. This time, go down to the beach. Walk along the beach, wait for low tide and seek the piper. Pick the shell as reward. This will grant you +1 Charisma and the achievement Secrets of the Deep.

Shopping in Metriciens
Move back to Metriciens and sell Ringmail (90 shards) and Compass (450 shards). Buy 10 Parchments for 20 shards.

To Goldfall

Leave Metriciens and move north via East Road, Haggart's Corner to Whistling Heath. Select "go north" twice and pick up a Fourleaf Clover. Select "go north" a third time to leave the area.

Then, move west to Troilus' Inn. Enter the inn and pay for drinks to get some information for later. Return to Whistling Heath and select "go north" twice to pick up a second Fourleaf Clover. Select "go north" a third time to leave the area.

Move further north via Tekshin Tavern to reach Goldfall.

Beloved of the Three Fortunes
Enter the temple of the Three Fortunes and become an initiate (90 shards). If you have never been initiated to a god, you will get the achievement Higher Calling.

Afterwards, start gambling. Join the sacred games and spin the wheel for 20 shards each.
There are six possible outcomes:
  • 1: Drop a Parchment. If necessary, you can also drop your starting equipment.
  • 2, 4 or 5: These outcomes don't matter, just try again.
  • 3: You take 2 damage. Retry, unless your health is low. Don't kill yourself!
  • 6: This is what you want. It gives the title Beloved of the Three Fortunes.
Once you are done with this step, discard all remaining Parchments.
(Note: The chance to not roll a 6 in 30 attempts is 0.42%. You should not run out of shards. If you do, continue with the next step and sell Pirate Captain's Heads or Horseshoes at Metriciens.)

More Items
(Note: If you do not have 60 shards left, then do the Open Country events and make an additional trip down to Metriciens to sell some items.)

Leave Goldfall and move north-east to Rainbow River. Reroll this area (via Goldfall), until you are able to buy two Rabbit's Foot Charms from event "2-6". This will cost 60 shards. The other two events don't do anything.
(Note: The hunter event could be used to get Large Potions of Nature.)

Once you are done, head to Open Country. There are two noteworthy events:
  • 2-6 Incident in a bull's field. If you get this event, make sure to run away. You cannot beat the bull without equipment. Note that there is no penalty for running away.
  • 8-12 A country fair. This is what you want.

Once you roll 8-12, there are three possible outcomes:
  • 2 - 4: Lose all shards. This doesn't matter, you will soon get more shards.
  • 5 - 7: You will lose half of your shards, which doesn't matter. However, you will also gain some items. Pick up the Horseshoe. Ignore the Exotic Feather and the Candle.
  • 8 - 12: You can pick up a Pirate Captain's Head. These sell for 150 shards in Metriciens. Feel free to pick it up or ignore it.
Keep rerolling the area via Goldfall, until you have gotten two Horseshoes.

Make it Rain
Once you have two Horseshoes (and also two Rabbit's Foot Charms and two Fourleaf Clovers), return to Goldfall and enter the temple of the Three Fortunes.

Participate in the preach and give the three items to the woman. You will gain +1 Sanctity.

Participate in the preach again. This time select "keep them". You will still lose the items, but you will get 1999 shards and the achievement Make it Rain.

Preparations
Leave Goldfall, head south via Tekshin Tavern and Monastery of Molhern to reach Whistling Heath.

In the heath, first select "go west", then "go south" and finally "go east". Pick up the Key of Stars. Now, head south to Haggart's Corner and buy a Lantern for 100 shards.

A Magical Shield
Head north again via Whistling Heath and select "go north" three times. You can ignore the Fourleaf Clovers from now on, as there is no use for them anymore.

Continue north via Tekshin Tavern, Goldfall and Rainbow River to finally reach Waterfall.

At Waterfall, select "stay here a while longer", "tell them to show you the treasure" and "enter the left-hand cave". Advancing requires a light source. Select "open the copper chest" and input "magical" (no quotation marks). As a reward, select "take the shield".

You will get the Magic Shield and the achievement Not Today. Equip the shield.
(Note: This is the best shield in the entire game!)

The Forsaken Forest
Move east to the Forsaken Forest and "enter the hamlet". Select "stay in the hamlet over night". You will gain +1 Sanctity. There is a chance that you contract Leprosy. However, this does not matter.

After spending the night, select "go along the path" and "you know what to do". Take the Plate Armour and the Greatsword.

Once you are done, select "continue along the path" , "go left", "enter the crypt" and "wait to hear what it suggests". This will start a quest.

Now, select "go south", "carry on along the path" and you will end up at the crypt again. Enter the crypt and you will automatically hand over the Key of Stars. This will complete the quest and give you the achievement Twinkle, Twinkle, Key of Stars.

"Quietly search the crypt" and you will be able to pick up the Green Medallion.
(Note: This item will not get used for a very long time.)

After you are done, leave the crypt. Select "go south" and "leave the forest".

Back to Metriciens
Travel back to Metriciens via Rainbow River, Goldfall, Tekshin Tavern, Monastery of Molhern, Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Haggart's Corner and East Road.
Chapter 2: Trading with the Trau
Inventory Management
At Metriciens, visit the market and sell the Plate Armour (720 shards) and the Greatsword (200 shards). Also, unequip your starting gear and sell or drop it.

Buy a house and visit your house stash. This will unlock the achievement Home Is Where You Hang Your Armour. Now, stash the Green Medallion and the Lantern.

To Uttaku
Visit the harbor and take the passage to Ringhorn for 10 shards. At Ringhorn, explore the city and travel upriver. "Journey upriver" again and "Stop off at Delpton".

Leave Delpton and travel south to River Road. There are two noteworthy events:
  • 2 - 6 An eerie light at dusk.
  • 8 - 12 A pardoner.
If you get the pardoner, then "pass on by" and reroll the area via Delpton. Once you get the eerie light, "go closer to investigate" and "accept the mission". Now, return to Delpton.
(Note: The pardoner sells a sanctity blessing for 7 shards. You don't need it.)

At Delpton, explore the town, select "go west" and "continue in Old Harkuna". This will change your map to Uttaku.

Faery Mead
Move west to Old Harkuna. There are two noteworthy events:
  • 2 - 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of Old Harkuna.
  • 8 - 12 An unbidden visitation.
If you get "an unbidden visitation", then a wizard will turn your hair golden. This is actually a good thing, but you can get rid of it by rolling this event a second time. Generally, you should not worry about it. Reroll the area via High King's Seat until you get "2 - 5".

Once you get it, buy 12 Faery Mead at the market. Now, you can leave the area.

Move to High Kings Seat and "visit the High King's Seat". This will give you some information, that you need much later in the game. Double check, that you did not miss this step.

Now, move west to Troll Bridge and "pay the 5 shards and cross". Travel all the way south to Hall of Heroes, west to Farmlands and southwest to Aku.

At Aku, visit the harbour and take the passage to Metriciens.

The Trau
Leave Metriciens and travel north to Haggart's Corner via East Road. Explore the town and "ask about trading with the Trau". "Go out to the standing stones" and roll.

Unless you get "2-5", you have to try again. Use the southern East Road to restart the event until you get the Trau to appear.

At the Trau market, sell the 12 Faery Mead for 900 Mithral each. You should now have 10800 Mithral. Buy the following items:
  • Vulcanium Mail (1600 Mithral)
  • Battle Axe (900 Mithral)
  • Selenium Wand x4 (8000 Mithral)
  • Were-boar Tusk (20 Mithral)
You should have 280 Mithral left.

Leave the Trau market and pay the 1 Mithral or the Trau will kill you. Equip the Vulcanium Mail and the Battle Axe.

Now, go north and enter the Whistling Heath (north, north, north). Head further north to Monastery of Molhern and try to enter it. If you fail the Charisma check, reroll the area via Tekshin Tavern.

Once you succeed, "talk to the abbot" and "ask about the man with the velvet eyepatch". This advances the eerie light quest.

Back to Aku
Now, travel back to Metriciens via Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Haggart's Corner and East Road.

Finally, go to the harbour in Metriciens and take the passage to Ringhorn. Leave the city and go west. This will change your map to Uttaku.

In Uttaku, move west to Thurlings, Hall of Heroes, Farmlands and finally Aku.

In Aku, visit the market and you should sell the four Selenium Wand for 12800 shards. If you have never held 5000 shards before, you will get the achievement Fortune Favors the Bold.

Now, buy the following items:
  • Celestium Wand (+5) for 8000 shards
  • Centaur Flute (+3) for 800 shards
  • Gloves of Sig (+3) for 1200 shards
  • Gold Holy Symbol (+3) for 800 shards
  • Sextant (+3) for 1200 shards
  • Rope for 50 shards
  • Climbing Gear for 100 shards
  • Wolf Pelt for 100 shards
After this spending spree, you will be sitting at around 500-1000 shards. Equip everything (except the Rope) and you will get the achievement Top Gear.

Preparations
From Aku, take the harbour passage to Metriciens.

Here, visit your house stash and take the Lantern with you. Also, visit the temple of the Three Fortunes and "renounce their worship". This will cost your 25 shards.

Finally, take the harbour passage to Marlock City.
(Note: If you are wondering, not all harbour passages are save. Make sure to only take the ones that are specifically mentioned in the guide.)
Optional: Summary
Independent of your starting class, you should have gotten the following ability boosts:
  • Charisma +4 (Piper, Centaur Flute)
  • Combat +3 (Battle Axe)
  • Magic +5 (Celestium Wand)
  • Sanctity +5 (Goldfall, Hamlet, Gold Holy Symbol)
  • Scounting +3 (Sextant)
  • Thievery +3 (Gloves of Sig)
Chapter 3: Starting out in Sokara
At Marlock City
Start the following quests:
  • "The Greatest Story": Go to the tavern and pay for drinks.
  • "The Lord of Thunder": Visit the House of Priests (10 shards) and accept the quest.
  • "The Golden Chain Mail": Visit the Temple of Sig and talk to the high priest.

Now, explore the city and "visit the Street of Entertainers". "Go over to him" and "pay the money". "Leave" and "wait and follow the scholar". "Chase the muggers off" and "help him up". You will get a Vial of Yellow Dust.

Finally, take the harbour passage to Yellowport.

At Yellowport
If you contracted Leprosy in the previous chapter, visit the temple of Maka and cleanse it for 75 shards. Skip this step, if you did not contract the disease.

Start the following quests:
  • "Book of the Seven Sages": Go to the tavern and pay for drinks.
  • "Sunken City of Ziusudra": Go to the temple of Alvir and Valmir and talk to the high priest.
  • "Rat Problems": Go to the Trade Guild and visit the guildmaster.

Now, explore the city. "Explore the city by day." Select "the poor quarter" and "bless him".
Depending on your classes sanctity, this might take a few attempts, but there is no penalty for failing the check. Just try again until you succeed. This will start the quest "Seek Me Out".

(Note: If you want to get some additional shards, then you can explore the city during the day again and select the poor quarter again. Buy the three lanterns for 150 shards and sell them at the market for 270 shards. This can only be done once.)

Finally, take the harbour passage to the Isle of Druids.

The Isle of Druids
At the Trading Post, go to the temple and "visit the shrine to Lacuna". Talk to the priestess and accept her quest. This starts "A Sacred Tusk". Talk to the priestess again and you will finish the quest, granting you +1 Scouting and the achievement Pig-sticker. Now, leave the temple.

Go to the temple again, "visit the temple of Nagil", visit the warden and accept his mission. This will start the quest "A Ghoulish Night".

Leave the town and go to the Forest. Try scouting your way through. If you fail, you will take 2 damage and move to the coast. If that happens, move back to the Trading Post and heal at the tavern. Afterwards, just enter the Forest again.

Once you pass the scouting check, try to persuade the tree. If you fail the charisma check, just leave the forest. In this case you will not take damage. Enter the Forest and try again.

Once you pass both checks, move to the City of Trees and see the Druids' Leader. Accept his quest ("In Service of the Druids"), take the Oak Staff and teleport back to Yellowport via the Obsidian Stones.

Going North
Leave the city, move north via Trefoille and Road Tavern to the Forest of Larun. Nothing bad can happen on the way. At the forest, seek the Willow Druid.

Failing the scouting check doesn't matter, as you can just try again by reentering the forest from the Bronze Hills. After passing the scouting check, you have to perform a sanctity check. If you fail it, you take 3 damage. If your health gets too low, you should heal up in Caran Baru.

After a successful sanctity check, you will gain 50 shards and the quest item Willow Staff.

Leave the forest and move north via Bronze Hills and Northern Road to reach Eastern Foothills.
(Note: Don't worry if you lose shards at Northern Road. Those amounts don't matter.)

Climb upwards and use your Climbing Gear. If you fail the magic check, make sure to turn back, pressing on could potentially kill you. There is no penalty for turning around and trying again.

Once you succeed, ask the hermit about the quest and you will get the achievement This One’s a Tribute and:
  • (Troubadour) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (else) +1 Charisma

Leave the area and move south via Northern Road to Caran Baru. Then turn east to Coldbleak and finally reach Blessed Springs.

Going Back South
First, visit the Alchemy Shop and buy three Potions of Healing for 150 shards.

Then, explore to enter the Holy Waters. Pay 35 shards and "use a vial of yellow dust". The reward you should pick depends on your starting class. Check the list below.
  • Warrior: +1 Thievery
  • Mage: +1 Charisma
  • Priest: +1 Thievery
  • Rogue: +1 Scouting
  • Wayfarer: +1 Charisma
  • Troubadour: +1 Scouting
Afterwards, accept the quest ("The Stolen Chest") and pick up the Amulet of Protection.
(Note: You could fight the Gorlock here, but there is no real reason to do so.)

Leave the area and go back through Coldbleak, Caran Baru and Main Road, to reach Lake of the Sea Dragon. (Note: At worst, you might take one damage at Main Road.)

(Note: If you go west to The Countryside instead, you could get lost and possibly get poisoned afterwards. It isn't a big deal, as you can get rid of it in Yellowport, but that is a waste of time. If you went south via Eastern Road, you could run into a fight against two pilgrims. The fight isn't hard, but there is no reason to do it.)

At the lake, visit the market and buy a Silver Nugget for 165 shards. Now explore the area and hire a boat. Pay the fisherman, hand the Silver Nugget to the dragon and catch the tail.

Since you have the Amulet of Protection, the outcome of the thievery check does not matter and you can pick up the Magic Chest. There are also three other treasures. You should pick Plate Armour, Ebony Wand and 500 shards.

If you passed the thievery check, you still have the Amulet of Protection in your inventory. As far as I know, there is no other use for it. Thus, you can just drop it.

Leave west toward Main Road, then turn south to Road Tavern and Trefoille.
(Note: Again, the worst outcome is taking one damage at Main Road.)

Visit the wizard and you will get the achievement Transmutation and:
  • (Mage) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (else) +1 Magic.

Move south to Yellowport and sell the Plate Armour (720 shards) and the Ebony Wand (800 shards) at the market. Then, take the harbour passage to the Isle of Druids.

Isle of Druids
Leave the Trading Post, scout your way through the Forest again and enter the City of Trees.
(Note: You won't have to persuade the tree a second time.)

Visit the High Druid to finish the quest. You will gain the achievement Cross-polination and:
  • (Wayfarer) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (else) +1 Scouting.

Finally, leave the city, go to the Obsidian Stones and teleport to Wishport.
Chapter 4: Another trip West
In Golnir
From Wishport walk to Metriciens via East Road.

Here, unequip your Vulcanium Mail and put it into your house stash.

Now, explore Metriciens until you get the correct event.
  • 2 - 4 Honey for a thief. - Let it pass.
  • 5 - 7 Political intrigue. - This is the information you need.
  • 8 - 9 Trade secrets. - Don't invest.
  • 10 - 12 A bizarre tale. - Useless.
Afterwards, take the harbour passage to Ringhorn.

Explore Ringhorn to sail upriver past Castle Ravayne to Delpton. Stay at the tavern in Delpton and pay for drinks. You will get some more information you need for later.

Finally, explore Delpton and head west. Select "continue in Old Harkuna".
This will swap your map to Uttaku.

In Uttaku
Go to Old Harkuna and reroll the area via High King's Seat, until you get the market (the 2-5 event). Buy a Scroll of Ebron for 200 shards.
(Note: This is the same area where you bought the Faery Mead in chapter 2.)

Leave the area and move to High King's Seat. Head to Troll Bridge, pay the troll (5 shards) and continue to Hall of Heroes. From Hall of Heroes head to Farmlands and finally to Aku.

At Aku
In Aku, go to the temple and enter the Hall of Ablution (50 shards). Go to the cathedral. Once you've handed over your Scroll of Ebron, you will become an Initiate of Ebron.
(Note: You can try to get close to a lord, but the combat check is pretty high. There is no penalty for failing, but the rewards are also insignificant.)

Now, head to the palace and pay 50 shards. Pay 50 shards again and a hidden roll will trigger. Depending on your luck, you will have to pay between 0 and 200 shards.

Finally you will reach the audience chamber. Talk to the Master of Documents of Fable and accept his task.

Help the princess and "quest for the egg". The outcome of the rank check does not matter. Most likely you will fail. Ignore the other two adventures (treasure and magic portal) and return to your writing both times.

Your book will win a prize. You will gain two court status and the achievement Neverending Story. Also, choose an ability depending on your class:
  • Warrior: +1 Charisma
  • Mage: +1 Charisma
  • Priest: +1 Charisma
  • Rogue: +1 Combat
  • Wayfarer: +1 Charisma
  • Troubadour: +1 Scouting
Leave the audience chamber and the palace. Go to the temple of Ebron and renounce your worship. This is free, but will mark a heretic in Uttaku.
(Note: Being a heretic is kind of dangerous. Certain parts of Uttaku that used to be save, should not be visited anymore. For example, if you try to cross the border near Ringhorn, the border guards will now try to arrest you. This could result in your death.)

Finally, take the harbour passage to Metriciens.

Back in Golnir
From Metriciens take the passage to Ringhorn. Explore Ringhorn to sail upriver to Castle Ravayne. Stop there.

At Castle Ravayne
Enter the castle. This will require a charisma check. If you fail, you will take 1 damage. Try again until you succeed. Obviously, don't kill yourself in the endeavor. Should you ever get down to 1 health, then sail back down to Ringhorn and heal at the tavern.
(Note: The chance for failing that often is astronomically small.)

Once you are in the castle, try to enter the inner keep. You will need to convince the guards with another (easier) charisma check. You will automatically pass.
(Note: Failing this charisma check could potentially kill you!)

"Request an audience with the baroness" and select "in pursuit of a quest". Select "spying on her foes" and accept the mission. Talk to her again about the same quest to finish it. The rewards are 100 shards, +1 Thievery and the achievement The Masked Singer.

Seek out the baroness again and start the quest "denounce a traitor". Talk to her again regarding the quest and it will complete. You will get the achievement Cluedo. As reward you should pick the Cobalt Wand.

Yet again, request an audience with the baroness. This time ask for a boon. The required charisma check is fairly high. However, the penalty for failing is being booted out of the inner keep. This does not matter as you can just enter again and retry the check.

Once you succeed, there are three outcomes:
1 - 3 Training - This is what you want. Pick +1 Charisma.
4 - 5 Armour - This will take any armor your are carrying and give you a Splint Armour instead. (Pretty useless.)
6 A ship - This will give you a barque in Ringhorn. (Pretty useless.)

Keep doing the loop until you get the desired reward. This might take a little while depending on your luck.

Back to Sokara
Leave the castle and sail downriver to Ringhorn.

Visit the market and sell the Cobalt Wand (1600 shards). Also, sell any Splint Armour you might have picked up. Now, buy a house (150 shards) and get your Vulcanium Mail out of the stash. Make sure to equip it.

Finally, take the harbour passage to Yellowport.
Chapter 5: Visiting Yarimura
In Sokara
Take the harbour passage to Marlock City. There, visit the temple of Sig and become an Initiate of Sig (50 shards). This will give you a temporary +1 Thievery buff.

Afterwards, take the harbour passage back to Yellowport. Leave and move north-east to Venefax.

At Venefax, buy the Scorpion Antidote for 100 shards. Also, make sure to heal to full health at the inn. Afterwards, leave south towards Scorpion Bight.

An easy fight against two scorpion men will trigger. Since you have the Battle Axe and the Vulcanium Mail, this should be very easy. Just play aggressively and heal if they score lucky hits.

After the fight, open your inventory. Drink the Scorpion Antidote if you took damage. This will clear the poison. If you did not get hit, you can drop the antidote, as you do not need it anymore.
(Note: This ensures, that your Thievery is at 8 now and you can not fail the next two checks.)

Select "Go for it now" and two checks will auto-complete. Pick up the Book of the Seven Sages and you will return to Venefax. Heal at the inn if you are injured. Then, leave and go back to Yellowport.

Here, visit the tavern and "seek Pyletes" to complete the quest. Your rewards are an ability point (pick +1 Thievery), the title Illuminate of Molhern and the achievement Raider of the Lost Knowledge.

Getting Potions
Leave Yellowport and head north via Trefoille, Road Tavern, Main Road to Caran Baru. Turn east to Coldbleak and south east to Blessed Springs.

Here, visit the alchemy shop and restock to three Potions of Healing, if you used any. Also, buy the following potions depending on your class:
  • Warrior: 3x Potion of Stealth, 1x Potion of Intellect
  • Mage: 3x Potion of Stealth
  • Priest: 3x Potion of Stealth
  • Rogue: Nothing.
  • Wayfarer: 1x Potion of Intellect
  • Troubadour: Nothing.
To Yarimura
Leave the Blessed Springs and turn north via Coldbleak to Fort Estgard. Here, accept the quest "Damsel in Distress".

Move north-west to Nerech and select "venture forth". Now move south-west to Shoreline and "hitch a lift" to Yarimura.

At Yarimura
Rogues don't need to do the Thievery check, so you can skip the next paragraph.

Otherwise, head to the market and buy exactly 1 Arrow, 1 Bolt and 1 Sling Ammo. Explore the city, "go to the Thieves' Kitchen", "explore the streets" and "visit the Brotherhood". This will trigger a thievery check. If you fail, discard one of the items you just bought. If you fail three times in a row, head back to the market and buy more ammo. Eventually, you will get in.

"Enter the building" and "apply for membership". Go back all the way to the city screen. You can discard or sell the remaining ammo.

If you are a Warrior/Mage/Priest, then drink one of the Potions of Stealth you should be carrying. Double check that you have Climbing Gear equipped and that you are carrying a Rope.

Head to the palace and attempt the quest. If you followed the instructions, then you will auto-pass the check. Do not take the necklace! Instead, just "leave the way you came".

Explore the city again, "go to the Thieves' Kitchen", "explore the streets", "visit the Brotherhood" and turn in the quest. This will give you the title Nightstalker and the achievement with the same name. Further, you will get:
  • (Rogue) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (Other) +1 Thievery.
Also, this should be the 10th quest you have finished. Thus, you will get the achievement Have Weapon - Will Travel.

Return to Sokara
Return to the city screen and leave Yarimura by taking the passage to Yellowport (65 shards).

Explore and select "explore the city by night". "Go to the wealthy area" and you will auto-pass a thievery check. "Accept her offer" and "search the ground floor".

If you are a Warrior/Mage/Priest, open your inventory and use another Potion of Stealth. You will auto-pass the check. Pick up the Verdigris Key. Now, "go upstairs to find Lauria" and leave.

The Isle of Mystery
Leave Yellowport and head to Trefoille, "visit Oliphard the Wizardly" and use the Verdigris Key to access the portals. "Step through the thrid door" and you will end up at the Isle of Mystery.

"Press on up the mountain" and, since you have the title Illuminate of Molhern, you are allowed to enter the city.

Visit to the tavern and pay for drinks to get some information about the Forest of Larun.

Go to the Chief Mage and accept his quest ("Remnants of the Past").
(Note: You will not be doing this quest for a long time.)

Leave the city on foot. This has three outcomes:
  • 1 - 2 Towering Cliffs - Hitch a ride and you will end up in Yarimura.
  • 3 - 4 Merchant Ship - You will end up in Yarimura.
  • 5 - 6 A Bottle - Ask the genie to teleport you to Yarimura.
Anyway, you will always end up in Yarimura. Take the harbour passage to Yellowport (65 shards).
(Note: You could also just take the teleport to Yarimura, but it costs 100 shards.)

Another Trip North
Leave Yellowport and head north via Trefoille and Road Tavern, to reach the Forest of Lraun.

"Venture deeper into the forest", use the password and use a Potion of Intellect if you are a Warrior or Wayfarer. All other classes will auto-pass the magic check.

"Try the path to the sarcophagus" and you will auto-pass a thievery check. When prompted, pick an ability depending on your class:
  • Warrior: +1 Charisma
  • Mage: +1 Charisma
  • Priest: +1 Combat
  • Rogue: +1 Combat
  • Wayfarer: +1 Charisma
  • Troubadour: +1 Combat
Leave the forest and go north to The Bronze Hills. Now, turn east via Caran Baru, Coldbleak, Fort Estgard, Nerech ("venture forth") and Shoreline. "Hitch a lift" to Yarimura.

Chapter 6: The White Sword
The Nomad Camp
From Yarimura go west to Nomad Camp.

Be aware, that you might take some damage here. Each time you roll "2-5" or "6-7", there will be a scouting check for food. You cannot auto-pass this and failing it will cause one damage. Obviously, do not risk dying to this and heal at Yarimura, if you are at low health.
(Note: You should have a Wolf Pelt equipped, so you will not damage from the cold.)

There are two noteworthy events and you need both of them.
  • 2 - 5 A gruesome punishment. Read below.
  • 8 - 12 Gathering of the tribes. Read below.
2 - 5: When you get this outcome for the first time, "sneak closer" and you will trigger a thievery check. If you are a Warrior/Mage/Priest make sure to use the Potions of Stealth to pass the check. The other classes will pass it automatically. "Free the poor wretch" and you will gain some information about the bronze gate. If you roll this event again, nothing interesting happens.

8 - 12: The event starts with a tough charisma check. However, you get +3 from starting the quest "Seek Me Out". Thus, you will automatically pass it. When you get it for the first time, explore the area. This completes the quest. Your rewards are 500 shards and the achievement Northern Hospitality. You can ignore the Potion of Nature. If you roll the event again, just leave.

Once you have gotten each event at least once, go back to Yarimura and take the harbour passage back to Yellowport (65 shards).

Chosen One of Nagil
From Yellowport, take the passage to Marlock City. There, renounce your worship at the temple of Sig. Now, take the passage to Wishport.
Leave the city and reroll East Road until you get "9 -12 Knights of Nagil". Accept their offer and become a follower of Nagil. Double check this on your character sheet.

Head north via Haggart's Corner, Whistling Heath (north, north, north) and Monastery of Molhern to reach the northern Grimm Riverbank. This area is directly east of the monastery.

Reroll the area using the monastery, until you get "9-12 River Wraiths". If you get another outcome, make sure to stay west of the river.

Once you get the wraiths, get aboard their ship. At the next choice make sure to take "approach the cowled figure" or you might die. Since you are an Initiate of Nagil you will get the title Chosen One of Nagil.

Back to Yarimura
"Strike out to the west" again and go back south via Monastery of Molhern, Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Haggart's Corner and East Road to finally reach Metriciens.

Take the passage to Marlock City, leave and go to Trefoille.

Visit Oliphard and use the Verdigris Key to teleport to the Isle of Mysteries (door 3). However, don't go up the mountain but turn back. This has three outcomes:
  • 1-2 Towering Cliffs - Hitch a ride and you will end up in Yarimura.
  • 3-4 Merchant Ship - You will end up in Yarimura.
  • 5-6 A Bottle - Ask the genie to teleport you to Yarimura.
You will always end up in Yarimura.

The White Sword
From Yarimura head north to Village of Vodhya and west to Northern Mountains.

Investigate the cliff, recall the story and enter. Since you have the title Chosen One of Nagil, you get awarded the White Sword (+8). Make sure to pick it up, as there is no skip warning like there is for artifacts! You will also get the achievement The Right Hand of Death.

As you are an Initiate of Nagil, you are allowed to leave without an ability check. Head back to Yarimura. Equip the White Sword, but keep the Battle Axe in your inventory. You will need it shortly.

From Yarimura take the passage down to Yellowport. Here, take the passage to Isle of Druids. Visit the Temple of Nagil and renounce your worship. This is free. Now, move to the Obsidian Stone and teleport to Yellowport.

Back in Sokara
Leave Yellowport and move west to Shadar Tor. You will automatically complete a combat check. Accept the quest and "continue on the road" to leave the area.

Move north to Trefoille, Road Tavern and Forest of Larun. Now, move south-west to Devil's Peak.

Climb up the peak and use the thievery check. Afterwards a sanctity check will trigger. If you succeed, you will skip a fight. If you fail, you will have to fight two Storm Demons.

They are somewhat dangerous, but you should not have a problem. The White Sword does a lot of damage and you should not worry about using up multiple Potions of Healing.

As a reward, you will get 3 maximum health and a quest update.

To Caran Baru
Leave the area and go east to Road Tavern to heal. Travel north via Forest of Larun and Bronze Hills. Now, head west to Dragon Knights' Castle.

"Seek the Black Dragon Knight" and "fight the Black Dragon Knight". After you beat him, pick up the Black Dragon Shield and move east via Bronze Hills, towards Caran Baru.

Heal at the tavern, if you took and damage and "ask the innkeeper about Yanryt the Son". Give him the shield and you will receive the achievement Knightfall and:
  • (Warrior) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (else) +1 Combat

Traveling On
Move south via Main Road, Road Tavern and Trefoille to reach Marlock City.

In the city, visit the House of Priests and turn in the quest. You will receive the achievement Eucharist and:
  • (Priest) +1 Rank and a choice of skills. Pick Combat Dodge and learn it.
  • (else) +1 Sanctity
Travel to Trefoille and teleport to the Isle of Mysteries (door 3).

Press on up the mountain and enter the city. At the market, buy a Banner of the Shadar and restock up to three Potions of Healing. If you are a Warrior or a Rogue, also buy a Potion of Nature.

Leave the city on foot and you will get one of three events.
Chapter 7: Rod of Teleportation
Into The Steppes
At Yarimura, visit the temple of Tambu and become an initiate of Tambu (60 shards).

Leave the city and move southwest to Gemstone Hills. The magic check does not matter. Do not knock on the slab, but leave the area.

Go further south and west via Beladai's Camp and Southern Plains to City of Ruins. "Explore the City of Ruins" and use the Bannar of the Shadar to enter. "Visit the Crypt of Kings".

A magic check will trigger. If you win, the next fight will get easier, but it is not hard either way. Feel free to use all Potions of Healing if you need to. As a reward, you will get a Scarab Amulet. If you took damage, then you will be poisoned. This does not matter.

Leave the City of Ruins and enter the Strange Gully. "Investigate the Gully" and "make an offering". Offer your Battle Axe and you will receive the title Blessed of Tambu.

Back to Yarimura
Leave the gully and move east via Southern Plains, Beladai's Camp and north via Gemstone Hills to Yarimura. Heal there if you took damage and restock to three Potions of Healing.

Into The Steppes Again
Now move north to Village of Vodhya and west via Northern Mountains, Ruby Citadel, Wastelands, Pyramid of Xinoc, to finally reach Stairway. If you took any damage along the way, use a Potion of Healing to get back to 14/14.

Keep ascending the stairs and at one point, you will take up to 12 damage (hidden roll 2d6). You will not take damage anymore, so you don't have to heal.

Talk to the dragon and since you have the title Blessed of Tambu you will be able to go through. Now, "descend into the dark."
(Note: You will lose the title Blessed of Tambu, but that doesn't matter.)

Eventually, you will get the achievement Beam Me Up and:
  • (Wayfarer) +1 Rank and an ability point. Pick +1 Magic.
  • (else) +1 Scouting.
Pick up the Rod of Teleportation. You have no other choice but to use one of its three charges. Open your inventory and do so, to get back to Yarimura.
(Note: If you don't use the item, you will die.)

At Yarimura
At Yarimura, renounce the worship of Tambu, heal back to full and restock to three Potions of Healing. Now, leave the city.

Move north towards Village of Vodhya and west to Northern Mountains. "Investigate the cliff" and "climb the cliffs". A scouting check will trigger. If you are a Warrior or a Rogue, use the Potion of Nature to auto-pass the check. All other classes will auto-pass without it. "Descend to the ground" and "go on your way". Afterwards, return to Yarimura.

The Genie
Take the passage to Yellowport. If you got bitten by the Snake Demon, visit the temple of Maka to cleanse the poison. Take the passage to Marlock City and become an initiate of Sig. Now, go to Trefoille and take the third door to the Isle of Mystery. "Turn back" and trigger the event you should know well by now.

However, this time you are specifically looking for the event 5-6.
  • 1-2 Towering Cliffs - Hitch a ride and you will end up in Yarimura.
  • 3-4 Merchant Ship - You will end up in Yarimura.
  • 5 - 6 A Bottle
If you do not get it, go to Yarimura and take the passage to Yellowport. Go to Trefoille and take the third door again, to trigger the roll once more.

Eventually you get the genie event. Make sure, that you have your Rod of Teleportation with you. This time select "ask for knowledge of a skill of your choice."

Select an ability based on your class:
  • Warrior: +1 Magic
  • Mage: +1 Combat
  • Priest: +1 Combat
  • Rogue: +1 Magic
  • Wayfarer: +1 Magic
  • Troubadour: +1 Combat
Now a Luck roll will trigger. You can roll the outcome, if you want. However, do not click on "Unlucky", or you will die. Instead, use your Rod of Teleportation. Independent of the outcome, you will end up in Yarimura.

There, stash the Rod of Teleportation and the Banner of the Shadar, as you won't need them for a while. Take the passage to Yellowport.
Chapter 8: Finishing Quests
The Wizard Estragon
Take the passage to Marlock City and then the passage to Wishport. Walk via East Road to Metriciens and take the passage to Ringhorn.

Explore the city and travel upriver to Castle Ravayne. Enter the castle and enter the inner keep. You will automatically pass all charisma checks.

Seek out the wizard Estragon and start his first quest. Talk to him again to turn in the Scarab Amulet and your reward will be +1 Magic.

Leave the castle and sail downriver to Ringhorn. Then, take the passage to Yellowport.

In Sokara
If you had some bad luck with different events, you might be running low on shards. Thus, now is a good opportunity to finish some quests in Sokara and stock back up.

Leave Yellowport and go west to Shadar Tor. After the random event, "examine the runes". This will auto-complete a magic check. Now "use the spell and swim out to sea" and "trust your magical prowess".

Pick up the Golden Net and travel back to Yellowport. Visit the temple of Alvir and Valmir and talk to the high priest. This will complete a quest and reward you with 100 shards, a Magic Trident and the achievement Retiarius.

Sell the Magic Trident at the market for 400 shards.

At The Isle Of Druids
Take the passage to the Isle of Druids. Explore the trading post and you will automatically pass a magic check. You should buy the ingredients for 15 shards. Pick up the Salt and Iron Filings.

You will automatically skip all the subsequent checks. Finally, use the filings to skip the fight and pick up the Ghoul Head.
(Note: Currently there is a bug in the game, which make the filings unusable. If that isn't fixed yet, just kill the ghoul another way. It isn't difficult.)

Return to the temple of Nagil and talk to the warden. Pick 500 shards as your reward. You will also get the achievement A Ghoulish Task.

Back In Sokara
Go to the Obsidian Stones and teleport back to Yellowport. Explore the city and go down to the sewers. You will automatically pass a thievery check and trigger an easy fight against two rat-men. After you beat them up, "enter the thrown rum".

Choose "sneak in to assassinate the king" and you will automatically pass another thievery check. Pick up the Copper Amulet and "try to open the chest with your thief skills". You will automatically succeed and gain 60 shards, a Mandolin, a Scroll of Ebron and a Potion of Healing.

Go to the trade guild and visit the guild master to turn in the quest. The reward is 450 shards and the achievement Exterminator. Finally, sell the Mandolin at the market for 270 shards.

Caran Baru
Leave Yellowport and head north via Trefoille, Road Tavern and Main Road to Caran Baru.

Explore the city and look for the man with the velvet eyepatch. This will auto-pass a charisma check. Pay the money and ambush him when he leaves. This will skip a fight and you can pick up Flame Opal Eye.

Explore the city again and visit the slave market. Buy the Mannekyn and free it. This will unlock an achievement later.

Now, go to the temple of Tyrnai and try to steal the chainmail. You will auto-pass a lot of checks. Some classes have a chance to fail the last thievery check. This is not problematic as it only causes 5 damage.

Pick up the Golden Chain Mail and most likely you will get cursed, due to passing the sanctity check. If you did not, you can skip the paragraph dealing with the curse.
(Note: If you fail the check you will not get cursed. This is one of the rare occasions in the game, where passing a check is disadvantageous.)

Turning in the Quest
Move south via Main Road, Road Tavern and Trefoille to reach Marlock City.

There, visit the temple of Sig and talk to the high priest. You will finish the quest and gain 300 shards, the achievement Blasphemous Burglary and:
  • (Rogue) +1 Rank and an ability point. Pick +1 Magic.
  • (else) +1 Thievery
From Marlock City, travel to Trefoille. Visit Oliphard and use the Verdigris Key to reach the Isle of Mystery (door 3). Press on up the mountain and enter the city.

At the Isle of Mystery
Explore the city and "visit the arena". Unless you are a Mage, you have to perform a high magic check to get in. Just reroll until you pass.
(Note: The chance of not getting it after 1000 shards aka 20 rolls is around 0.15%. That is, with a magic skill of 10. Trust me, you will get it eventually.)

Once you get in, pick "Wall of Fire" in the first round and "Wall of Water" in the second round. This will give you the title Arena Champion and the achievement Arkane Kombat. Further you will get:
  • (Mage) +1 Rank and an ability point. Pick +1 Sanctity.
  • (else) +1 Magic
Before leaving, you should sell all Potions of Healing you are carrying. Also, buy a Potion of Comeliness unless you are a Rogue.

Finally, if you have been cursed by Tyrnai, explore the city and visit the arena. As you are the champion, the mages there will lift the curse for free.

Leave the city on foot. This has three outcomes:
  • 1-2 Towering Cliffs - Hitch a ride and you will end up in Yarimura.
  • 3-4 Merchant Ship - You will end up in Yarimura.
  • 5-6 A Bottle - Ask the genie to teleport you to Yarimura.
You will always end up in Yarimura.

At Yarimura
Explore the city. "Go to the Thieves' Kitchen", "visit a tavern" and "approach some locals". If you are not a Rogue, use the Potion of Comeliness to auto-pass the charisma check. Join them.

Leave Yarimura and go to Villa of Hordeth just south of the city. "Follow Luroc" and a thievery check will auto-pass. Continue and a magic check will pop up. Passing or failing this check does not matter.

As rewards, pick the following three items:
  • Dust of Tranquility
  • Casket of Gems
  • Selenium Ore
Now use the Dust of Tranquility. You will gain +1 Thievery and 850 shards.
Now, return to Yarimura.

Important: From now on you have to take the teleport for 100 shards off the Isle of Mystery. Otherwise the person you just robbed might catch you and sell you to Uttakin slavers. Keep this in mind for the future.
Chapter 9: Returning To Aku
Road To Aku
From Yarimura take the passage to Yellowport. Then, take the passage to Marlock City. There, renounce your worship at the temple of Sig.

Afterwards, take the passage to Wishport.
Walk to Metriciens via East Road and take the passage to Ringhorn. Explore the city and sail upriver past Castle Ravayne to Delpton.

Disembark at Delpton and travel south to River Road. Keep rerolling the area until you get the 2-6 event. Go closer to investigate and you will get 250 shards, +1 Sanctity and the achievement No Rest for the Wicked.

Go back to Delpton and explore to head west. Your map will switch to Uttaku.
Select "continue in Old Harkuna" and go to Old Castle all the way in the south.

Then, head west via Thurlings, Hall of Heroes, Farmlands and you will reach Aku. If you roll the Wizards Workshop, do not give him the Selenium Ore at this time.

At Aku
Explore the city and "visit the slums". "Try to see the Slumlord". Since you have "Nightstalker", this does not require a check. You will automatically start the quest "A Thief's Web".

Again, explore the city, "visit the Slums" and "try to see the Slumlord". Accept the mission. This will start the quest "The Spider Palace".

If you are a Warrior/Mage/Priest, buy a Potion of Stealth at the market and use it right away.

Now, head for the palace and attempt the quest. You will automatically pass a magic and a thievery check. As reward you will get 100 shards and two treasures. You should pick Silver Holy Symbol and Uttakin Telescope. You will also get the achievement Welcome To My Palace.

Equip the Uttakin Telescope. It goes in the ring-slot on your character sheet.

Now, go to the temple and hand over the Scroll of Ebron to become an initiate.

Afterwards, go back to the palace, visit the High Convener of Chariots and accept her quest. Also, visit the Blender of Spices and accept his quest. Then, leave the palace.

Finally, head to the regular market and sell Silver Holy Symbol for 360 shards. If you are a Warrior or Priest, also buy a Potion of Intellect and use it right away.

Leaving Aku
Move between Farmlands in the north-east and Aku until you get the event "8-12 A wizard's workshop". Hand him the Selenium Ore and "counter with a spell of your own". This will trigger a magic check, that you will auto-pass.

You will get 250 shards and a Cobalt Wand, a Selenium Ore and an Amulet of Ebron. On a second reward screen you will also get the Vade Mecum.

Go back to Aku and sell the Cobalt Wand for 1600 shards.
Now, take the passage to Metriciens.

To Spatterdash
From Metriciens, take the passage to Ringhorn.

Explore Ringhorn and sail all the way upriver to Marmorek. Explore Marmorek and pay 1 shard to cross. This will change your map to Uttaku.

In Uttaku
Select "continue in Old Harkuna" and go to Spatterdash.

"Visit Spatterdash", "visit the old graveyard on the hill", "seek the resting place of Kizil Irmak" and "enter the tomb". Since you are a follower of Ebron and are carrying an Amulet of Ebron you get a much easier sanctity check.

However, there is still a chance to fail it. If you do, run away. There is no penalty for that. Return to the village and try again. Eventually, you will succeed. Pick up the Holy Avenger.

Leave the area and go south-west via High Kings Seat, Troll Bridge (pay 5 shards) to Lake of the Seven Needles. Select "Leave the lake" and "journey on".

Go south-west to Central Grumes and finally reach West Countryside.

There are two noteworthy events. Reroll the area via Central Grumes until you get "8-12".
  • 2-5 A smoking crater - Just move on.
  • 8-12 A priest of Ebron - This is what you want. Once you get it, "intervene" and you will auto-pass a charisma-check. You will get +1 Scouting.
Time Travel
Finally, move north to House of the Unbidden. "Visit Holyamu", "ask about the Aoristic Pool" and "use the pool now". You will auto-pass the scouting check. Take the quest item. A set of three magic checks follows, but you only have to pass the easiest one, which is an auto-pass. Thus, you will eventually make it back to the house.

Back to Aku
Go east via Central Grumes and north to Lake of the Seven Needles. Select "leave the lake" and "journey on". Go east to Troll Bridge and pay the 5 shards.

Move all the way south to Hall of Heroes and west via Farmlands to Aku.

At Aku
Enter the palace, talk to the "Blender of Spices" and complete the quest. The rewards are 500 shards, +1 Scouting, two Court Status and the achievement Aoristic Park.

Now, turn your quest in at the High Convener of Chariots. The rewards are +1 Combat, an Uttakin Long Axe, a Chain Mail, 3 Court Status and the achievement Avenger.

Afterwards, leave the palace. Go to the temple and renounce your faith.

Finally, explore the city, "visit the slums" and "try to see the Slumlord". "View the secret market" and buy a Witch's Hand and a Parrot Fungus. This will cost you 650 shards in total.

Now, take the harbour passage to Metriciens.

Preparations
There, take the harbor passage to Marlock City.

At Marlock City, visit the temple of Sig and become an initiate.

Now, leave the city and travel north to Trefoille. Use the second door to teleport to Sky Peak. You will automatically pass the scouting check. Since you know Pikalik, the reward is a free resurrection deal (which I will not use) and the achievement One Of a Kind.

If you have never gotten a resurrection deal before, this will also unlock the achievement Death Is Just a Flesh Wound.

The Steppes
Leave the area via Southern Plains and go east to Beladai's Camp. Turn south-west and visit Western Foothills. Enter the caves and you will automatically pass a scouting check. This gives you some important information for the next chapter.

"Go back to the steppes" and north via Beladai's Camp, Gemstone Hills and finally reach Yarimura.

Explore Yarimura and go to the Tower of Bakhan. Here, accept the quest. Go back there to advance the quest. Go back there a third time to complete the quest. The reward is a Selenium Wand and the achievement A Helping Hand.

Explore the city again, "go to the Thieves' Kitchen", "explore the streets" and "visit the Brotherhood". This will reward you with 500 shards and the achievement Speak No Evil.

Finally, visit the market and sell the Chain Mail for 180 shards. Also, drop or stash the Uttaking Long Axe, as there is no way to sell it.
(Note: Or at least I don't know where to sell it.)

Chapter 10: Civil War
Picking a side
The time has come to pick a side in the Sokaran civil war. Take note, that the guide will ensure that this does not affect your progress in the future. Feel free to make your own decision.

Optional: Possible Considerations
  • If you are missing the achievements for one side, the decision should be obvious.
  • From a meta-gaming perspective, it is better to side with Nergan Corin, since this nets you an additional ability point (+1 Combat).
  • From a lore perspective, Nergan Corin is more loyal to your character. He would help you, if you got kidnapped in Yarimura. Grieve Marlock would just let you die.
  • However, siding with Grieve Marlock ends the civil war. Siding with Nergan Corin prolongs it. For the average Sokaran civilian it might be better if you sided with Grieve.
  • Siding with Grieve Marlock also nets you around 2000 more shards.

Option A: You want to side with Grieve Marlock
If you want to side with the general, then read on in Chapter 10A.

Option B: You want to side with Nergan Corin
If you want to side with the side with the successor to the throne, then read on in Chapter 10B.
Chapter 10A: Siding with Grieve Marlock
Killing A King
From Yarimura, take the passage to Yellowport. In Yellowport go to the Provost Marshal. Bribe or convince the captain to let you pass and accept the mission to kill the king.
Move north to Caran Baru via Trefoille, Road Tavern and Main Road. Then head east to Coldbleak. Climb the mountain, talk to the guard, pick "Nergan Corin" and convince the captain. You will auto-pass the charisma check.

Make the attempt to kill the king. Pick thievery and you will auto-pass. Loot the quest item and pick thievery to auto-pass again.

The Next Step
Leave the mountains and head back to Yellowport via Caran Baru, Main Road and Road Tavern.

Turn in the quest at the Provost Marshal and you will get 500 shards, the title Protector of Sokara, the achievement Usurper and +1 Rank.

Depending on your class you should pick:
  • Warrior: +1 Magic
  • Mage: Any skill you want.
  • Priest: +1 Magic
  • Rogue: Any skill you want.
  • Wayfarer: Any skill you want.
  • Troubadour: +1 Magic
Use the passage to Marlock City and visit the palace. Accept the next quest.

Travel to Trefoille and teleport to the Isle of Mystery (door 3). Press up on the mountain and enter the city.

At the Isle of Mystery
Buy a Potion of Intellect and a Potion of Stealth, unless you are playing Rogue. Also, sell the Selenium Wand for 3200 shards, as it is just taking up inventory space.

Make sure to take the teleport off the island for 100 shards or you could end up dead!

Killing Beladai
Leave Yarimura and go south via Gemstone Hills and Beladai's Camp to reach the Citadel of Velis Corin. Enter the citadel and talk to the commander. Accept his task. Leave the citadel going north to the steppes. (Note: You automatically tell him about the caves.)

Move north to Beladai's Camp and enter it. Drink the Potion of Intellect and the Potion of Stealth you just bought, explore and attempt to kill the General. Both the thievery and the magic check will auto-complete.

Then, signal the troops to complete the event.

Aftermath
The commander of the citadel will give you a selection of rewards. You should pick the Cobalt Wand. Head north to the steppes and travel to Yarimura via Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills.

Take the passage to Yellowport. Here, sell the Cobalt Wand for 1600 shards. Then, take the passage to Marlock City.

Visit the palace and you will get 1000 shards, the achievement The New Order and +1 Rank.

Depending on your class you should pick:
  • Warrior: Any skill you want.
  • Mage: +1 Magic
  • Priest: Any skill you want.
  • Rogue: +1 Sanctity
  • Wayfarer: +1 Magic
  • Troubadour: Any skill you want.
Afterwards, renounce your worship at the temple of Sig and take the passage to Wishport.
Chapter 10B: Siding with Nergan Corin
To Coldbleak
Take the passage to Yellowport and travel north to Caran Baru via Trefoille, Road Tavern and Main Road.

Buy a house there for 200 shards. It will save you some times later.

Now, turn east and go to Coldbleak. Climb into the mountains, talk to the guard, pick "Nergan Corin" and convince the captain. You will auto-pass the charisma check. Accept the quest.

To Yellowport
Leave the mountains, head west to Caran Baru and south to Yellowport via Main Road and Road Tavern.

At Yellowport
Here, deposit everything you own into the stash. This includes all shards, everything you have equipped and everything you are carrying.

Take two things back out:
  • 5 Shards
  • White Sword
Make sure that you have the White Sword equipped.

Head toward the Provost Marshal. Use the 5 shards to bribe the captain and attempt to kill the marshal. Choose combat and you will auto-pass the check.

The following roll is purely luck based and cannot be influenced. Thus, there is a 42% chance to end up at the mines and potentially die, ending your ironman run.

If you get 7-12 (Lucky)
Explore Yellowport and "go down to the city sewers". This unlocks your house stash. Take all your equipment out and reequip everything. Don't forget the items you were carrying or your shards.

Now, travel north via Trefoille, Road Tavern and Main Road to Caran Baru.

If you get 2-6 (Unlucky)
You end up at the Bronze Hills in the slave mines. This means, that you lose everything that you were carrying. Except, you were only carrying the White Sword. This weapon cannot be taken from you. Thus, you did not lose anything.

In the mines you will meet Lauria again. Do not go along with her plan. She will betray you again and you will lose one charisma point. Instead, try to escape on your own.
(Note: Possible DLC change.)

This requires a thievery check without equipment bonuses. However, your thievery skill is high enough to auto-pass this. Move south to Caran Baru and reequip yourself. Don't forget the items you were carrying or your shards.

Aftermath
Afterwards, head east to Coldbleak, turn in the quest and you will get 500 shards, the title King's Champion, the achievement Assassin and +1 Rank. Depending on your class you should pick:

  • Warrior: +1 Magic
  • Mage: Any skill you want.
  • Priest: +1 Magic
  • Rogue: Any skill you want.
  • Wayfarer: Any skill you want.
  • Troubadour: +1 Magic

The Next Step
Make sure to accept the follow-up quest, head west to Caran Baru and south to Marlock City via Main Road, Road Tavern and Trefoille.

Explore the city, "explore the Barracks area" and "return the insult". You will automatically pass the combat check. Your rewards are 25 shards and an Officer's Pass.

Now, leave the city and go north to Trefoille. Visit Oliphard, use the Verdigris Key and teleport to the Isle of Mystery (door 3).

At the Isle of Mystery
Press up on the mountain and enter the city. Buy a Potion of Stealth and sell the Selenium Wand for 3200 shards, as it is just taking up inventory space.

If you are a Mage, you also need to buy a Potion of Strength.

Leave, and make sure to take the teleport for 100 shards or you could end up dead.

The Citadel
Leave Yarimura and make your way south via Gemstone Hills to Beladai's Camp.

Explore the camp and visit the general. Accept the task and make sure to tell the general about the tunnels afterwards. This is not automatic!

Leave the camp and enter the Citadel of Velis Corin using the Officer's Pass.

Drink the Potion of Stealth and also the Potion of Strength if you are a Mage. Select "try to open the gates". You will automatically pass both a thievery and a combat check. Now, escape through the tunnels to end the event.

Aftermath
You will gain 500 shards, +1 Combat, +1 Rank and the achievement The North Remembers.

As class dependent reward, you should pick:
  • Warrior: Any skill you want.
  • Mage: +1 Magic
  • Priest: Any skill you want.
  • Rogue: +1 Sanctity
  • Wayfarer: +1 Magic
  • Troubadour: Any skill you want.
Finally, leave the citadel northwards to the steppes and travel to Yarimura via Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills.

Stash or drop the Officer's Pass, as you won't need it anymore and take the passage to Yellowport. Here, take the passage to Marlock City.

Renounce your worship at the temple of Sig and take the passage to Wishport.
Chapter 11: Castle Orlock
Now go to East Road and travel up to Haggart's Corner. Go to the temple and become an initiate of Lacuna. Leave the temple and leave the village.

Now go south via East Road and Metriciens to finally enter The Haunt.

If you followed the guide, then you will have the following:
  • Charisma 11+
  • Climbing Gear equipped
  • Magic and Scouting 12+
  • Initiate of Lacuna
This means, that nothing in The Haunt or Castle Orlock can do any harm to you. You will automatically pass all the checks.

At the castle, there are three events:
  • 2-5 An explorer's book: +1 Scounting, +1 Rank and the achievement Bookworm.
  • 6-8 A magician's grimoire: Either +1 Magic or -1 Magic (not repeatable).
  • 9-12 A cursed book: Does nothing if you are an Initiate of Lacuna.
Keep rerolling the castle until you get event 2-5. If you have not gotten event 6-8 by then, then you can decide if you want to risk it.

Rank Rewards
As rank rewards, you should pick the following:
  • Warrior: +1 Magic
  • Mage: Any skill you want.
  • Priest: +1 Magic
  • Rogue: Any skill you want.
  • Wayfarer: Any skill you want.
  • Troubadour: +1 Magic
Final Outcomes
In the end, there are three possible outcomes of Castle Orlock:
  • Best case: +1 Scouting, +1 Rank, +1 Magic.
  • Good case: +1 Scouting, +1 Rank (got the explorer's book and stopped).
  • Worst case: +1 Scouting, +1 Rank, -1 Magic.
The guide assumes the worst possible (but unpreventable) outcome:
+1 Rank, +1 Scouting, -1 Magic.

Finally, move west to Metriciens via the Haunt.

Optional: Rerolling Castle Orlock
If you are "cheating" on ironman difficulty or playing on a lower difficulty and plan on reloading the event, until you get the best result, then be aware that the hidden roll determining the outcome is done before even entering Castle Orlock.

Thus, reloading at the castle will not change the outcome. However, the result can change without completely restarting your character. Sadly, the exact reroll condition is unknown to me. Some people in the community suggest that ranking up is the trigger.

Your Current Skills
It would have been hard to keep track of the skill choices for all classes, so just check if you have the mentioned skills already. Otherwise, you might waste a lot of shards.
(Note: Not that shards are particularly valuable anyway.)

In Golnir
At Metriciens, buy the skill Illusory Clone for 1440 shards. Then, take the passage to Ringhorn. At Ringhorn buy the skill Hot Pursuit for 500 shards.

Explore the city and travel upriver to Castle Ravayne.

Enter the castle and go to the market, buy Stunning Blow for 1440 shards. Leave the castle and sail downriver to Ringhorn.

Vade Mecum
Use the Vade Mecum by right-clicking it in your inventory. As your Magic is 12+, the roll check will auto-complete. Teleport to Yarimura, buy the skill Adrenaline Burst for 1440 shards.

Next, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yellowport and buy the skill Weapon Mastery for 600 shards.

Skill Setup
Learn all the skills and set them up in the following way:
  • Active: Stunning Blow, Adrenaline Burst, Illusory Clone, any 4th skill you like.
  • Passive: Hot Pursuit, Combat Dodge, Weapon Mastery
It should looks similar to this:
Be aware, that Mages that sided with Grieve Marlock cannot learn Stunning Blow until after the next fight. However, that should not be a problem. Just keep Ice Bolt and Lightning Strike for now. You will not have any trouble in Nerech.

Preparations
Take the passage to the Isle of Druids, visit the shrine of Lacuna and renounce your worship. Travel to the Obsidian Stones and teleport to Yellowport.

Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku. There, explore the city, select slums and slumlord. Visit the secret market and buy a Scroll of Ebron for 500 shards. Go to the temple and become an Initiate of Ebron.

Further, seek a blessing. It gives you the item Defense through Faith.
(Note: This is one of the strongest items in the game. If you use it before a fight, most enemies will not be able to hit you, unless they score a critical hit.)

Since you will be fighting, pick up three Potions of Healing.
Further, pick up a Potion of Intellect, if you are Mage or a Rogue. There is only a ~3% chance that you will need it, but better save than sorry.

Also, since the next part of the game could make you drop items, buy exactly 1 Arrow, 1 Bolt and 1 Sling Ammo.
(Note: If you still need a spot for the Stunning Blow skill-book, just pick up one less ammo type.)

Finally, use the Vade Mecum and teleport to Yellowport.
Chapter 12: Some Fighting
To Nerech
Travel north via Trefoille, Road Tavern and Main Road to Caran Baru. Then, turn east to Coldbleak and Fort Brilon.

There are two noteworthy events there:
  • 1 - 2 A Thief. If you get this, drop one of the ammo items you just bought. Reroll the area via Coldbleak. If you get this event three times, before getting the event you want, move back to Caran Baru and buy more ammo.
  • 5 - 6 A peculiar find. This is what you want. Pick up the Manbeast's Helmet and drio the remaining ammo.
(Note: The chance for getting the thief three times before getting the helmet is 12.5%. The chance for getting the thief 6 times before getting the helmet is around 1.6%.)

After you got the helmet, move north to Nerech. There, "venture forth" and move to Uphill.

At Uphill
Select "pull the manbeast's helm over your head". Please note, that you should never equip the helm on your character page, as it would lower your sanctity score.

Use Defense through Faith now. You will auto-pass the sanctity check unless you are a Mage or a Rogue. Don't worry, if you failed it. You will get a warning about the helmet. However, you should put it on regardless.

You will auto-pass a magic check and as a reward for not dying, you will get +1 Magic. Note, that if you failed the Sanctity check (~3% chance as Rogue/Mage), then you will need to drink the Potion of Intellect to auto-pass the magic check.
Eventually, you will trigger a fight against two Manbeasts and a She-devil.

Some general fighting tips:
Summon Illusory Clones in front of you and run them forward to absorb attacks and/or do lots of damage. Once they are out, use Stunning Blow on the She-devil and combine it with an attack for lots of damage. Finally, feel free to use Adrenaline Rush to attack twice in a turn. Keep your health high and don't risk dying.

Pick up Naginata and Black Pagoda Seal. You will automatically return to Fort Estgard. At the fort you will get +1 Combat and the achievement Knight in Beastly Armor.
(Note: You can learn Stunning Blow now, even if you play Mage and sided with Grieve Marlock.)

To Aku
Move north to Nerech and "venture forth". Then, move east to Shoreline and hitch a lift to Yarimura. Heal to full and sell the Naginata for 200 shards.

You should stash the Manbeast's Helmet and the Black Pagoda Seal as you will need them for a DLC.

Finally, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku.

At Aku
Go to the palace and visit the Master of Nightingales. This will start a quest. Leave the palace.

Pick up another Defense through Faith at the temple (blessing) and restock on Potions of Healing. Three should be enough, but you can take more if you want to.
Leave Aku and travel east via Farmlands and Hall of Heroes, to finally reach Singing Forest.

The Singing Forest
First, no matter which event you roll, you will afterwards be able to catch a nightingale. To do this, set a trap and the scouting check will auto-complete. Then, take the quest item.

Now for the special events. Neither event respawns, so you only have to deal with the unwanted event ("2-5 Crashing in the trees") once.

2-5 Crashing in the trees: You will auto-pass a magic check. Afterwards, threaten the goblins. Pick up the Faery Mead and the Potion of Restoration. After taking what you want, don't demand more. The guide does not expect you to keep rolling until you have gotten this event.
(Note: Demanding more will not hurt you. However, the chest this information leads to is cursed and the contents are pretty worthless.)

8-12 Something is watching you - This is what you want. Reroll the forest until you get it. You will auto-pass a scouting check. Use Defence through Faith before starting the fight against two Giant Chameleon.

Some general fighting tips:
Summon Illusory Clones in front of you and run them forward. Once they are out, use Stunning Blow and combine it with an attack for lots of damage. Use Adrenaline Rush to attack twice to quickly get rid of the first chameleon.

Be careful though, as the Chameleons critical hits do 10 damage. Both Chameleons critting you in the same turn will kill you.
(Note: The Chameleon will not damage you, unless they score critical hits.)

After the fight, a magic check with auto-complete and you will get a Chameleon Cloak. This boosts your Thievery by 3. Equip it instead of the Wolf Pelt.

Back to Aku
Return to Aku via Hall of Heroes and Farmlands. Go to the palace and turn the quest in, at the Master of Nightingales. The rewards are 300 shards, +1 Charisma, the achievement Silver-tongued and a Court Status Point.

Since you have 8 points now, seek an audience with the king. This will start a quest.

You can sell all remaining Potions of Healing, as there won't be any fighting in the next chapter. Do not sell the Wolf Pelt, as it still protects you from cold environments, even when you do not have it equipped.
Chapter 13: Masked Lord/Lady
Preparations
If you got Faery Mead in the last chapter, then you can skip this. If you did not, explore Aku, Slums, Slumlord and visit the secret market. Buy Faery Mead for 200 shards.

Now, take the Vade Mecum to Yarimura.

At Yarimura, visit the temple of Nisoderu and talk to the high priestess. Accept her quest and leave Yarimura.

Round Trip
Travel south to Gemstone Hills and you will auto-complete a magic check. Knock on the slab and hand over the Faery Mead. Descend into the Trau hole.

You will auto-complete a scouting check and get confronted by guard dogs. Try to sing them to sleep and you will auto-complete a charisma check. Pick up the Pathfinder's Gem.

Lastly, pick "the pyramid" as your destination. Do not enter, instead continue on your way.

Travel between the Pyramid of Xinoc and Wastlands until you get the event "8-12 A tower in the air". If you get "2-5", do not investigate and move on.

Once you get the event, use the Pathfinder's Gem to get access to the market. You will also get the achievement A Stairway to Heaven. At the market, buy a Tatsu Pearl for 2500 shards.

Now, move south into Horde of the Thundering Skies. There are two noteworthy events and you want them both. Use Strange Gully to quickly reroll the area.
  • 2-5: A rotting corpse - When you get this event for the first time, investigate the corpse and get the mirror. Otherwise, ignore it or you might contract a disease.
  • 8-12: Bird-riders - When you get this event, you will auto-pass a combat check. After that, you will auto-pass a charisma check. This will give you some information for later.
Once you have gotten both events, leave.
Take the route via Strange Gully, Southern Plains, Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills to return to Yarimura.

Return to the temple of Nisoderu and you will get 150 shards, the achievement Divine Reflections and:
  • Priest: +1 Rank, pick any skill you like.
  • (else): +1 Sanctity

Masked Lord/Lady
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport back to Aku. Go to the palace and seek an audience with the Faceless King. You will get +1 Rank and:
  • Warrior: Pick any skill you like.
  • Mage: +1 Sanctity
  • Priest: +1 Magic
  • Rogue: +1 Sanctity
  • Wayfarer: +1 Magic
  • Troubadour: Pick any skill you like.
You will also get the title Masked Lord/Lady and the achievement The Masquerade.

Leave the palace and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Ringhorn.
Chapter 14: Your First Ship
At Ringhorn
Go to the temple of Alvir and Valmir and buy a blessing (30 shards).

Now, go to the harbor and buy a Barque (220 shards). If this is your first ship, you will get the achievement Bring Me That Horizon. Upgrade your crew to excellent (140 shards).

(Note: Maybe you already have a Barque there, that was given to you by the baroness. If so, then you don't have to buy another one. You could also buy a galleon. However, the unavoidable chance of a splitting mast is 1 in 216 or 0.46%. While it is extremely unlikely, it can happen. A blessing is 100% safe.)

Set sail and head to the western Coastal Waters.

There are four noteworthy events:
  • 2-4 Storm: This is the event you do not want. Use your blessing, return to Ringhorn, buy another blessing and try again.
  • 5-6 Pirates: Outrun them. They will never catch you. Continue south to Violet Ocean.
  • 8-9 Ship of Wizards: Sail on. Continue south to Violet Ocean.
  • 10-12 Mermaids: This is the event you are looking for.

First time getting the Mermaid Event:
Once you get the mermaids, speak to them and try to catch her in a net. As you are rank 6 (or 7), this cannot fail. Take the Coral-red Tresses and the Mermaid's Comb. Sail on to Violet Ocean, if you have not gotten the Golden Locket yet. You only need the item once, so sail on to Violet Ocean, if you get the event again.

At Violet Ocean, there are two noteworthy events:
  • 2-5 A bottle drifts by: This gives you a map that is not important. Keep it or drop it.
  • 7-12 A landfall: This is what you want. You gain 250 shards and find a Golden Locket. Refuse to give the locket away. This is important!
If you don't get "a landfall" right away, you will have to return to Coastal Waters and try again. If you run into the storm event and use up your blessing, return to Ringhorn immediately and get a new one.

Onward
Once you have both the Coral-red Tresses and the Golden Locket, return to Ringhorn. Now, take the passage to Yellowport. From there, the passage to Marlock City and finally the passage to Wishport.

Leave Wishport and head north into Magwort Fens. You will automatically complete the scouting check. You don't need the potion. Go further into the fens and pick up a Golden Katana.

Leave via East Road and go to Metriciens. There, take the passage to Ringhorn. Explore the city and sail upriver to Castle Ravayne. Enter the castle and enter the inner keep.

Seek out the wizard and hand him Coral-red Tresses. The reward is +1 Magic.

Seek him out again and hand him the Golden Katana. As reward you will get the achievement Am I A Joke To You. Pick an ability based on your class:
  • Warrior: +1 Magic
  • Mage: +1 Sanctity
  • Priest: +1 Combat
  • Rogue: +1 Sanctity
  • Wayfarer: +1 Sanctity
  • Troubadour: +1 Sanctity

Creating a Map
Now, request an audience with the baroness. Select "in pursuit of a quest" and "making a map".
Leave the keep and the castle. Travel upriver to Marmorek.

At Marmorek, sell Mermaid's Comb for 50 shards, buy a Parchment (2 shards) and a Leather Armour (50 shards).

Leave and travel north-east to Spine of Harkun. Ignore the plaque and use the Parchment to begin drawing the map. A scouting check will auto-complete.

Important: Before continuing on, equip the Leather Armour instead of your Vulcanium Mail.

Now, move east to the other area called Spine of Harkun. There are two noteworthy events:
  • 2-5: Hydra - If you roll this, select "run away" and use the Leather Armour to shield yourself from the acid. This will destroy the armor, but you won't have to fight or take any damage.
  • 9-12: Mannekyn People - They tell you some information, that you don't really need.
(Note: If you choose to fight the Hydra, you might die instantly, if it damages you. Unless, you have a blessing of Maka active. Don't risk fighting it otherwise!)

After rolling one event in the area, "uneventful journey" counts as well, a scouting check will auto-pass and you can take the Map of the Mountains.
Reequip your Vulcanium Mail and head back west to the other Spine of Harkuna. Ignore the plaque and travel south-west to Marmorek.

Explore Marmorek and travel downriver to Castle Ravayne. Visit the castle and enter the inner keep. Request an audience with the baroness. Select "in pursuit of a quest" and "making a map".

This will complete the quest and as a reward you will get 500 shards, +1 Scouting and the achievement Brokeback Mountain.

Lastly, sail downriver to Ringhorn. If you still have the Leather Armour, sell it.

Chapter 15: The High King
In Uttaku
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku. Stash the Pathfinder's Gem as you won't need it anymore. Buy three Potions of Healing.
Leave Aku and move north-west to West Road. There are two noteworthy events:
  • 2-5 An unexpected opportunity: Do not grab the box and just travel on.
  • 8-12 Religious zealots: You will auto-pass the sanctity check. You can ignore the reward.
Afterwards, travel to Kunrir. Explore the city and stroll through the streets. There are three events, but two don't really do anything. Simply pay the small fine on the "holy day". The patrol will not care about you.

Eventually, you will get "8-12 A scholar". Accept his quest and immediately turn it in.
Choose +1 Combat. You will also get the achievement Fly, You Fools.

From Kunrir move north to West Countryside. Leave as soon as you can. Move north to House of the Unbidden and journey on. Keep going north to reach Icicle Forest.

There are two events there. As you need both, keep rerolling the area via House of the Unbidden, until you get each event at least once.

2-5 Something is watching you - You will encounter an ice-ghoul. As your skills are high, you will auto-pass two magic checks and a sanctity check to gain +1 Sanctity and a piece of Selenium Ore. Take it.

Sadly, if you roll this event again, you will have to fight 3 wolves. If you have bad luck, this could happen multiple times before actually getting 8-12. Use your Potions of Healing if you need to. Once you run out, move south to Kunrir and restock. Ignore the Wolf Pelts.

8-12 Frost Sprites - Ask them for information. Pay 10 shards. Follow his instructions. Your defense is very high, so you won't take damage. This unlocks some information that you will need later.

Back to Aku
Move south via House of the Unbidden, West Countryside and West Road, to Aku.

Preparations
Buy a Potion of Comeliness unless you are a Troubadour. Now, go to the temple and renounce Ebron. Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Ringhorn, go to the temple of Elnir and become an initiate.

Now, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yarimura.

Killing Kaschuf
From Yarimura, move north to the Village of Vodhya. Visit the village and go up to the Keep of Kaschuf. Knock on the door and start the fight.

Use your Clones, then Stun and kill Kaschuf. He should have no chance to even roll an attack against you. However, after you beat him, you will take up to 6 points of damage (1d6). So heal if you get too low.

You will then meet his butler and trigger a charisma check. This will auto-complete. Now open the locket and leave the village. Go back to Yarimura and heal at the tavern.

From Yarimura, move north to the Village of Vodhya. Visit the village and go up to the Keep of Kaschuf. Knock on the door and start the fight. This time you can kill him. The rewards are 750 shards, +1 Charisma and the achievement Heart of Darkness.

Preparations
Move back to Yarimura. Sell all Potions of Healing, as you won't be fighting for a while.

Stash or drop the Golden Locket. Further, stash the Verdigirs Key to make some space. Finally, pick up the Banner of the Shadar from your stash.

Going West
Leave the city and move west via Nomad Camp to reach Northern Plains.

At the plains, there are two noteworthy events:
  • 2-5 A voice in the wind: This is the event you want. Follow the voices and you will take one damage. A sanctity check will trigger and you will auto-pass it. A tougher sanctity check will trigger, but you get a bonus due to being an initiate of Elnir, thus you will also auto-pass it. The rewards are +1 Charisma and a Selenium Ore. Take it.
  • 8-12 A band of nomads: Don't worry about the charisma check. The nomads will not hurt you and nothing bad can happen if you roll this. Reroll the area via Ruby Citadel.
Once you got 2-5, move west to Strange Gully and west again to City of Ruins. Explore the City and use the Banner of the Shadar to get inside.

Now, "visit the Cave of Bells" and "use the knowledge from the Shadar codex".

You will gain 2000 shards, Plate Armour, Sword of the Shadar, Gold Holy Symbol and Sceptre of Kings.
(Note: If your inventory is full of other important stuff you forgot to stash, then you can leave the other treasures and only take the Sceptre of Kings.)

Further West
Leave the City of Ruins and move north-west to Frozen Wastes. There are two events:
  • 2-5 Wild Horses: You will auto-pass a sanctity check. Leave the herd alone and reroll the area via the Pyramid of Xinoc.
  • 8-12 Running Footsteps: This is what you are looking for. "Follow him to the pyramid" and "help the shamans". Your reward is +1 Sanctity. You can ignore the Witch's Hand.
Now, move south-west to River of Destiny. If you roll "8-12 A black stallion", just ignore it. Further, move south-west to Rimewater and finally to Ice Mine.
(Note: DLC flag.)

At Ice Mine
Pay 10 shards to go on a tour, go down the dark tunnels and proceed into the darkness. Ask Blue Cap to smash the panel and pay him the 200 shards.

Finally, use the Potion of Comeliness and enchant the ice queen with a song. You will automatically pass. (Note: Troubadours do not need the potion.)

You will gain +1 Rank and the achievement Lullaby Dirge, as class specific reward you should pick:
  • Warrior: +1 Thievery
  • Mage: Any skill you want.
  • Priest: Any skill you want.
  • Rogue: Any skill you want.
  • Wayfarer: Any skill you want.
  • Troubadour: +1 Thievery
Chpater 16: A Magical Sword
To High King's Seat
You should be at Rimewater, so move north-east to River of Destiny, Pyramid of Xinoc and Wastelands. Turn south to Horde of the Thundering Skies, City of Ruins and "Go South".
(Note: You are taking this route to avoid potential fighting and also the flute event at Grasslands.)

Ignore the plaque and move south to Marmorek. Explore the town, pay to cross and continue in Old Harkuna. Now, move west to High King's Seat.

At High King's Seat
Visit and a new event will play out. Go to the palace and a quest will start. Go to the palace again and you will hand over the Sceptre of Kings and complete the quest.

You will gain +1 Rank and the achievement Rise a Knight!, as class specific reward you should pick:
  • Warrior: Any skill you want.
  • Mage: +1 Magic
  • Priest: +1 Thievery
  • Rogue: +1 Thievery
  • Wayfarer: +1 Thievery
  • Troubadour: Any skill you want.

Go to the palace again to hand over the two pieces of Selenium Ore you are carrying. You will get 1600 shards. There isn't much use for the ore otherwise.

To Aku
Leave, travel west to Troll Bridge (pay the 5 shards) and go all the way south to Hall of Heroes. Then, head west to Farmlands, to finally reach Aku.

Sell the Plate Armour (720 shards), the Sword of the Shadar (1600 shards) and the Gold Holy Symbol (720 shards).

Also, stash the Banner of the Shadar, as you won't need it for a while.

Short Trip East
Leave the city, go north-east to Farmlands and Hall of Heroes. There head south-east to Countryside.

The event you are looking for is "2-5 Creatures of the night." (Read below.)
If you get the other event "8-12 Laughter in the bushes", then do not kiss her. Instead, keep running away. Nothing bad will happen. Further, this event will not respawn. Reroll the area via Thurlings.

Once you roll the correct event, drive the vampires back with a holy word. This will trigger a sanctity check, which you will auto-pass. "Follow the vampires", but make sure to "wait until morning" before going to their crypt. (Note: Otherwise you will die!)

A magic check with trigger, that you will auto-pass. Take everything from the crypt.

Now, head north-west to Hall of Heroes. Enter the inn and "talk to Bylewyn Buskle" (the innkeeper). "Go with Misgee into the Mixen Sumps" and "ask him (Grindel) why he keeps eating people". Now, "turn around and fetch Misgee" and "throw Misgee at his feet".

You will auto-pass the charisma check and get the achievement Beowulf. As rewards you should pick Cobalt Wand and Silver Holy Symbol.

Move west to Aku via Farmlands.

At Aku
Go to the market, sell the Chainmail (180 shards) and the Ebony Wand (800 shards).

Now, explore the city and visit the Grand Bazaar. Set up in business and preach the word of God. Make sure to preach about Ebron. You will auto-pass the sanctity check and become initiated to Ebron. Moreover, the Soulwatch will clear you of your committed crimes.

Explore the city again, visit the grand bazaar and set up in business. Declare yourself a great wizard and you will auto-pass a magic check. You have both needed items and you will auto-pass the following checks.

The rewards are the Holy Sword and the Ring of Defense. Additionally, you will get the achievement Lazarus.

Swap the Uttakin Telescope with the Ring of Defense. Stash the Uttakin Telescope and the Holy Sword.

Finally, go to the temple and pick up Defense Through Faith (blessing) and buy three Potions of Healing, as there is some fighting ahead.

The Sword of Water
Move north-east to Farmlands and further north to the Crags of the Long Homes. Using the Black Diptych you can pick certain places to visit at this area.

Only one has a very good reward. Thus, make sure to pick "The Seven Lords". You will auto-pass a magic-check and trigger a fight.

This fight is fairly easy as "The Champion" moves very slowly. Just summon your Clones and let him get closer, then stun and kill him.

Pick "take the sword of water" and then "leave with the sword you have taken".
(Note: If you try to take more than one sword, very bad things happen.)

The game will automatically take you to Lake of the Seven Needles. Once you are ready, throw a stone across the pool. This will trigger a fight with a Water Drake. Use the Defense Through Faith before engaging.

After the drake is dead, "swim out to one of the needles" and attune the sword. For doing this, you will receive the achievement Primal Instinct and the Sword of Water. It has the special property +2 Magic. "Leave the lake" and select "journey on".

The Shade
Move south-west to Central Grumes. Investigate the cave and "aid the shade". Move south-east to East Countryside.

Nothing will happen, if you roll "2-5". If you roll the thieves, "try take one of them hostage". You will automatically pass the combat-check and win some Magic Lockpicks.

Afterwards, go to Crags of the Long Homes.

You will only get one option to enter this time. Take it. You will automatically pass a thievery check and trigger a fight against a wight. The fight isn't difficult, as the wight only has 28 health.

Pick up everything except the Stone Bracelet. That item is cursed. If you lack inventory space, feel free to drop any Potions of Healing you have left. You are done fighting for a while.

Select "you know the purpose of the net" and "leave and return to the shade".
(Note: If you investigate, the quest will fail!)

You will return to Central Grumes and get the achievement A Shade of Grey.

Returning To Aku
Move north to Lake of the Seven Needles, "leave the lake" and "journey on". Move east to Troll Bridge and pay the 5 shards. Move further east to High King's Seat and trade the Selenium Ore for 800 shards at the palace.

Now, move back to Troll Bridge and pay the 5 shards. Move all the way south to Hall of Heroes, west to Farmlands and finally south-west to Aku.

At Aku
Stash or drop The Black Dyptich and the Black Axe. Sell the Silver Flute (360 shards) and any Potions of Healing you might have left.

If you ran into the thieves, also sell the Magic Lockpicks (540 shards).

Finally, get another Defense Through Faith (blessing) at the temple.
Chapter 17: Loose Ends
The Ruby Citadel
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yarimura.
Make sure, that you are at full health and head north to Village of Vodhya, then west to Northern Mountains and west to Ruby Citadel.

Investigate the glow and enter the citadel. You will bypass the fight since your base sanctity is greater than 8. Further, you will auto-pass the magic check.

Choose to play the right note using your flute and auto-pass the charisma check.

The next roll is the reason why you cannot do this event earlier. If you get unlucky, then you could take up to 18 (3d6) damage. Before rank 8, this could mean instant death! Now the outcome doesn't matter much. Your rewards are the achievement Dissonant Harmonies and:
  • (Troubadour) +1 Rank and +1 Charisma
  • (else) +1 Charisma
Go back to Yarimura via Northern Mountains to heal back up.

Going West
Before leaving Yariumra, buy three Potions of Healing.

Also, check that you have the quest Remnants of the Past.
(Note: If you do not have the quest, teleport to Yellowport, take the Verdigris Key and head to Trefoille. Take the third door to reach the Isle of Mystery. Visit the chief mage and pick up the quest. Now, and this is important, take the teleport off the island or you might end up as a slave, if a certain ship picks you up.)
Now, move south to Gemstone Hills and Beladai's Camp. Afterwards, move west via Southern Plains and City of Ruins.

Equip the Sword of Water and move west to Grasslands. Here you will get:
  • 2-5 A beguiling flute: You will auto-pass a difficult magic check and you can pick up a Centaur Flute. Reroll via Rimewater. (Note: You only get the reward once.)
  • 8-12 A ring of stones: This is what you want. Enter the circle and copy the runes. You will auto-pass the checks.

Further West
When you are done, move west via Rimewater, to Tiger Bay.

Explore the area and "try to rouse (the sailors) into action". You will auto-pass a charisma and a scouting check. As a reward you will get the achievement Siren's Call and access to a barque.

Go to the harbour (bay) and sail off into the waters just west. Unequip your weapon, as you want to fail the next check. (Note: Don't worry about drowning, there are no storms.)

You can only roll one special event and that is exactly what you are aiming for. The event is "9-12 A black speck in the sky". If you do not roll the event or pass the combat-check, return to Tiger Bay and try again. This might take some time, but eventually you will fail the check.

Once you fail the check, immediately equip your White Sword and use Defense Through Faith. A fight against two Young Rukhs will start.

You will be rewarded with 100 shards, a Silver Flute and the achievement Air Miles.

After the fight, select "climb down" and you will auto-pass a scouting check. You will be at the Southern Plains. Go back to Yarimura via Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills.

To the Isle of Mystery
Sell any Potions of Healing you are still carrying, take the Verdigris Key out of your stash and teleport to Yellowport.

Now, go to Trefoille. Take the third door to teleport to the Isle of Mystery. Go up the mountain and enter the city. Turn in the quest at the chief mage and you will get +1 Magic and the achievement See No Evil.

Now leave the city and make sure to take the teleport for 100 shards. You could end up as a slave, if a certain ship picks you up.

Pirates
Take the Vade Mecum to Ringhorn. Make sure to get a blessing against storms from the temple of Almir and Valmir.

Take your barque with excellent crew and sail into the Coastal Waters south-west of Ringhorn.
(Note: You have been there before.)

There are four noteworthy events:
  • 2-4 Storm - Use your blessing, return to Ringhorn, buy another blessing and try again.
  • 5-6 Pirates - This is the event you want. If you get it, read below.
  • 8-9 Ship of Wizards - Sail on, return to Ringhorn and try again.
  • 10-12 Mermaids - Sail on, return to Ringhorn and try again.
When you get the pirate event, choose to fight them. The two possible outcomes are:
  • 14 - 17 The pirates withdraw. Return to Ringhorn and try again.
  • 18+ Victory. - This is what you want.
Once you win, you will get 800 shards, the achievement No Guts, No Glory, a Pirate Captain's Head, a cargo unit of spices and:
  • Warrior: +1 Rank, pick +1 Combat
  • (else): +1 Combat
Return to Ringhorn and sell the spices for 810 shards.

Your Own Castle
Now, explore the city and sail upriver all the way to Marmorek. Buy a Pickaxe at the market. Now, explore the town and sail all the way downriver to Ringhorn.

Leave the city and "Go West". Then head west and go to Old Castle.

An event will play out and you will get Recall Spell. You will also get the achievement Castle Doctrine.

Explore your castle and upgrade its defenses to 5. This requires 1600 shards, a Pickaxe and a combat check (auto-pass).

Now, go to the Blacksmith and buy a Leather Armour. Afterwards, summon Targdaz and have him enchant it. If the item vanishes, buy another one. If it works, you will get the achievement Arms Race and a Ring Mail. (Note: Every try costs 200 shards.)

Leave the castle and go back east to Ringhorn via Coastal Road.

Finally, use the Vade Mecum and teleport to Aku. Go to the market and sell the Silver Flute (360 shards), the Ringmail (90 shards) and, if you got it, the additional Centaur Flute (720 shards).

Further, stash the Verdigris Key, the Pirate Captain's Head and the Recall Spells.
Chapter 18: Dragonslayer
Preparation
Go to the temple and get Defense Through Faith (blessing).
Further, buy three or four Potions of Healing at the market.

Open Country
Now, take the passage to Metriciens. Buy a house there and stash all of your shards.
Move north via East Road, Haggart's Corner, Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Tekshin Tavern and Goldfall to reach Open Country.

You are looking for the event "2-6 Incident in a bull's field". Keep rerolling the area via Goldfall. Once you get it, "stand and fight". This should not be hard for you. Your reward is +1 Combat. Further, you don't have to pay the farmer a fine, since you stashed your shards.

If you get the country fair, don't pick up any of the items, as you do not need them. Since you stashed all of your shards, you cannot lose them.

Haunted Hills
Heal at Goldfall if you took and damage.

Now, move north via Rainbow River and Waterfall to reach Haunted Hills.

Haunted Hills is probably the most dangerous area in the entire game. There are 4 noteworthy events, that are all dangerous in their own way.
  • 2 - 4 A sulphrous cave: This is the dragon fight you are looking for. Use Defense Through Faith before starting it.

The dragon has a special ability. After the first round and every four rounds thereafter, the dragon will breath fire on you. This is unavoidable and will immediately cause 4 damage and 2 damage in the subsequent three rounds. It is imperative that you keep your stamina up or you might die.

After the fight, take the Dragon Head.

  • 5 - 6 A prophet of doom: Lose all blessings and resurrections. This doesn't matter to you.
(Note: I find it pretty funny, that the authors of the game-books put these events into the same area. There is a good chance, that you will encounter the dragon without a resurrection deal!)

  • 8 - 9 Outlaws: This is an event you also want. Pass a thievery check and a charisma check (both auto-passable now). Accept the offer to get 300 shards and +1 Thievery.
(Note: If you fail both checks, which are fairly high, they will take everything you are carrying. Thus, this event is dangerous, if you come here with low thievery/charisma.)

  • 10 - 12 A hungry ghost: This ghost requires a sanctity check. This is not auto-passable.
(Note: The ghost has a damage potential of 18 (3d6) if you fail the check.)

Once you have killed the dragon and gotten the outlaws at least once, move on.

Paladin of Ravayne
From the Haunted Hills move south-west to the (fake) Tower of Despair and then to Marmorek. Explore, to sail downriver until you reach Castle Ravayne. Enter the castle and enter the Inner Keep (auto-pass).

"Request an audience with the baroness", "in pursuit of a quest", "slaying a monster", "accept the mission". Do the same dialog again, to get the following rewards, +1 Rank, the title Paladin of Ravayne, the achievement Dragon's Lair.

For reaching rank 10 you will also get the achievement Power Overwhelming and, if you are playing on ironman difficulty, you will also get the achievement Iron Adventurer.

As class specific reward, pick any skill you want.

Finally, withdraw your shards from the stash and sail downriver to Ringhorn.
Chapter 19: Adventures At Sea
Preparation
In Ringhorn, sell your trusty barque and buy a galleon (850 shards).
Upgrade your crew all the way to excellent (140 shards).

Random Events
Take note, that the game can randomly toss you around the map, when running into storms. However, the chance for a split mast is very low (0.46%). There is no chance to die from the event itself, as your scouting is very high. However, you could run into a couple of events that might actually kill or harm you. I will list all "dangerous" events here (red), as well as all events you are actually looking for (green).

Pirates
Never parley with pirates! They might steal you stuff. Either outrun them or fight them. Nothing bad can happen from those two choices.

Uttaku
There are no dangerous or interesting events here. Nothing can kill or harm you. (As far as I know.)

Golnir
A) A Ship of Wizards - This is not dangerous, as you will auto-beat them in a fight. However, fighting them might have consequences in a DLC. Thus, I do not recommend it. Just sail on.

B) The Ship of Souls - This event will cost you your ship and crew if you do it. Also, there is a chance to die. Just sail on, if you encounter it in the eastern part of Golnir.

Sokara
A) Sea Battle - This event can only be done once. If you get it, you should help the pirates, as this gives you a unique item, that might be used in a future DLC (Silver Medallion).

B) A merchant ship - This event can only be done once. If you get it, you should assist the Merchants. This triggers something, that could become important in a future DLC.

C) Boomstick - The area you are looking for is located south-east of Scorpion Bight in Sokara. Reroll this area until you get "8-9 A ship of bizarre design". Enter the craft and take the Magic Stick with you. This will unlock the achievement Indistinguishable From Magic.

D) A shipwreck - This event happens near the north-eastern coast of Sokara. It is not dangerous, but you might trigger an (easy) fight. If you want to avoid it, don't investigate the shipwreck.

E) If you randomly get moved to the Isle of Druids, you need to watch out for the event "8-10 An unusual catch". This event is unique and can kill you, if you pick the wrong options. The best outcome is sparing the sea centaur. This will give you a Conch of Safety.

The Great Steppes

There are two important areas.
Area A
There are two interesting events:
  • 7-10 A ship-wrecked mariner - This event might become important in a future DLC, so you should pick him up. However, the corresponding quest is not available at the moment.
  • 11-12 A merchant ship - This is the event you want. However, getting this event is rather rare (8.3%). So you probably have to reroll the area many times. Using the Coastal Waters just west of it is the best option, as nothing bad can happen to you there.

Avar Hordeth
Once you finally get the event, you will run into Avar Hordeth's flagship. Somehow he knows that you robbed him and wants to fight you. Sail to meet the flagship and you will trigger a fight. Make sure to focus Avar first and the rest should be very easy.

After the fight you will roll dice, but your rank (+10) and your excellent crew (+3), will get added. Thus, you should hopefully get 16+ and automatically win. If you do not, you have to start the whole process again.
(Note: I wonder if Avar was actually a bad guy. There is only a throw-away line saying that some of his dealing are a little shady. It seems like you are kind of "evil" in this sub-plot.)

Anyway, you can swap ships, but it doesn't matter as you are also sailing a galleon. You will also gain 150 shards and a Mariner's Ruttier. This item is useless right now, but maybe it will be useful in a future DLC. Finally, you will get the achievement What’s Yours Is Mine.

Area B
This is the area associated with Bazalek Isle. Before being able to explore it, you need to roll an event. The only noteworthy event is "10-12 A fire in the distance." Sailing towards the beacon will destroy your ship and trigger a fight. Just sail on.

Independent of the event, you will then auto-pass a scouting check and subsequently you can explore the island.

Bazalek
"Press on inland" and "swim through the river". You will auro-pass some checks.
(Note: The cave is completely useless. Going there will only trigger a fight. Going across the bridge will trigger another fight, but the rewards are only shards.)

You will meet the golem, that will ask for the first password. Pick "Glass" or the golem will kill you. This will give you a number of shards (between 1000 and 6000) and also the achievement High Risk, High Reward.
(Note: If you collect unique items/weapons, then you should return to the island and reach the golem again. Pick "Scarlet" and you will get a Mythic Sword. This is probably the 3rd best weapon in the base game.)

To Yarimura
This concludes your adventures at sea. Make your way to Yarimura for the final chapter.
Chapter 20: Leftovers
The Trade Guild
There is an achievement associated with the trade guild and getting it is very easy, once you have access to the Vade Mecum.

Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yellowport. Explore the city by day and visit the harbour area. You will gain some information.

Now, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku. Visit the trade guild and you will get more information. Return to the town centre.

Finally, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Ringhorn and visit the trade guild.
Make an investment of 2300 shards and check on it.
(Note: Yes, you need to click the +100 shard button 23 times.)

The information you just gathered will result in a +5 on the next roll. Thus, the worst possible result is 7. This would lead to a 10% loss of the investment. However, as your investment is still above 2000 shards, you will get the achievement The Wolf of Shard Street.

Withdraw the investment or leave it. It does not matter.

Preparations
Use the Vade Mecum and teleport to Aku. There, take the harbour passage to Metriciens.

At Metriciens, visit the Temple of the Three Fortunes and buy a Luck Blessing. This might save you some time later.

Now, take the passage back to Ringhorn and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yarimura.

Check if you have a resurrection deal active. If not (very likely), then buy one at the temple of Nisoderu for 800 shards.
(Note: If you care about your shards, then you can also move south-west to Sky Mountain via Gemstone Hills, Beladai's Camp and Southern Plains. The resurrection deals there only cost 150 shards. But if you get unlucky serveral times, this will require some extra walking back and forth.)

Unequip and stash everything, except the White Sword. If you have to buy a new tab, do so.
Afterwards, deposit all of your shards.

To the Pyramid
Move west to the Pyramid of Xinoc via Village of Vodhya, Northern Mountains, Ruby Citadel and Wastelands (1 damage).

"Approach the gates" and "walk past the idols". You will auto-pass the combat check. "Go through the archway" and you will trigger a magic check. As you are not wearing any gear, this is not auto-passable. However, failing does not matter. You will simply get cursed.

Now all your items and equipment will be taken from you. However, since you didn't have anything on you anyway and the White Sword cannot be taken from you, this does not matter.

Eventually, you will get to the dreaded luck roll. 42% chance you die, 58% chance you live. Essentially this is a coin flip. Feel free to use the luck blessing, if you fail the first time. However, there is still a 17% chance, that you fail twice in a row. If you do get lucky, then you can pass over the next paragraph.

Unlucky
Well, you die. Use the resurrection deal to respawn at Yarimura (or Sky Mountain).
(Note: A save route from Sky Mountain to Yarimura is via Southern Plains, Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills.)

Now take 800 shards out of your stash and get a new resurrection deal.
(Note: Or 150 shards and get a new one at Sky Mountain.)

Move back to the Pyramid of Xinoc via Village of Vodhya, Northern Mountains, Ruby Citadel and Wastelands (1 damage). The events will play out exactly the same. Except, if you are already cursed, then you cannot get the curse twice.

You might get unlucky again. Repeat the process.
(Note: I totally understand, if you feel like cheating now, but it really won't take more than 5-10 tries. The chance for getting unlucky 5 times in a row is 1.3%. The chance for getting unlucky 10 times in a row is 0.016%. You have more than enough shards and a run only takes about one or two minutes.)

Lucky
Finally, you get lucky. You take up to 6 (1d6) damage from the beetle and move to the inner chamber. Here, you can take the Obsidian Key.

Take the same route back to Yarimura.
(Note: The damage potential of this round trip is 8 damage. One for every time you pass Wastelands and 6 from the beetle. So at 22 stamina you won't need to heal.)

Preparations
Take everything out of your stash and equip the items you need to equip. Also withdraw your shards. If you got cursed, explore the city and go to the Tower of Bakhan. Here you can get rid of the curse for free.

Now, also take the Banner of the Shadar out of your stash and check that you have the Obsidian Key with you. Finally, make sure to heal before leaving the city.

The Ruined City
Take the southern route via Gemstone Hills, Beladia's Camp and Southern Plains to the City of Ruins. Explore the city and use the banner.

Visit the Crypt of Kings. Now, use the Obsidian Key and you will get a bunch of items and the achievement Tomb Raider. Take whatever you want.
(Note: As you didn't leave anything at the pyramid, you don't need the Pyramid Key. But you can also take and stash it, if you want.)

Return to Yarimura via Strange Gully, Southern Plains, Beladai's Camp and Gemstone Hills.

Preparations
Use the Vade Mecum to go to Aku. Sell, stash or drop the items you picked up. Take the Green Medallion out of your stash.
(Note: This is the first item you ever stashed!)

Once you are ready, take the harbour passage to Metriciens. There, get a Luck Blessing at the temple of the Three Fortunes.

The (real) Tower of Despair
Go all the way north to Forsaken Forest via East Road, Haggart's Corner, Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Tekshin Tavern, Goldfall and Rainbow River.

At the Forsaken Forest, do not enter the leper hamlet. Instead, "press on" and take the path into the woods. At the intersection "go right" and then west. Unlock the tower using your thievery skill.

Approach the wolves and use the green medallion to skip the fight.
Take the Enchanted Sword and the Regal Helmet.

Now select "Gather some treasure" but don't actually take any shards. This will lead to another roll that can not be influenced. There are two outcomes:

2 - 10 Lucky (91.7%) and 11-12 Unlucky (8.3%)

Whichever outcome you get, you will get +1 Thievery and the achievement Bat Market.
However, if you get "Unlucky" you lose 1d6 stamina permanently.

Now you have gotten all achievements in the base game! Grats!
(Note: You should consider buying the DLC, if you have not done so already.)

Optional: Should you get Bat Market on your ironman character?
Well, if you are cheating the outcome of rolls, then definitely yes.
Getting that +1 Thievery is nice.

However, if you play without cheats, then I would not risk it. Sure, the chance to lose some stamina permanently is very low. Especially if you get a luck blessing before entering the forest. However, it can still happen!

As there are a lot of chances in DLCs to maximize your thievery skill, I value the stamina much higher. Thus, I would personally argue, that you should skip the achievement on your ironman character.

Obviously this is up to you though, that's why I left this achievement till the very end.

Finally go south (towards the edge of the woods) and leave the forest. Go all the way south to Metriciens following the same route as before.
Optional: The End
Inventory Management
From Metriciens, take the passage to Ringhorn and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yarimura.

There, sell the Enchanted Sword for 400 shards and drop or stash the Green Medallion. Finally, you should equip the Regal Helm.

DLC - Chapter 1: The Black Pagoda
Getting to Chambara
You have multiple options how to get to Chambara. I recommend either using the Vade Mecum or taking the passage from either Yarimura.
(Note: The passage from Aku is not safe!)

Preparations
First, you should buy a house in Chambara (350 shards). Afterwards, visit the temple of the sage of peace and become an initiate. The required sanctity check should complete automatically.

Befriending the Chancellor
From Chambara move south via Mikado Road to Shingen. Visit the Chancellor's Residence and "go up to the clifftop". "Stand and watch" the execution. "Leap in front of Kiyomori" and you will auto-pass a magic check. Move back to Chambara via Mikado Road.

Royal Quarter
Go to the royal quarter and "go to the Chancellor's mansion". "Go up to the gate" and you can enter. Stay and watch the play. This gives you some information. You don't need to buy the paper sword. Afterwards, there might be a quarrel, but you will auto-pass the charisma check.

Alliance
Take the Vade Mecum to Ringhorn. Explore the city and sail upriver to Castle Ravayne. Visit the castle, enter the inner keep and request an audience with the baroness.

Select "in pursuit of a quest" and "a diplomatic mission". This starts a quest.
Sail downriver to Ringhorn and use the Vade Mecum to get back to Chambara.

Royal Quarter
Go to the royal quarter and visit the Chancellor's mansion. Go up to the gate and you can enter. The chancellor will hand you a Diplomatic Letter.

Again, there might be a quarrel, but you will auto-pass the charisma check.

Baroness
Take the Vade Mecum to Ringhorn. Explore the city and sail upriver to Castle Ravayne. Visit the castle, enter the inner keep and request an audience with the baroness.

Select "in pursuit of a quest" and "a diplomatic mission". This finishes the quest and you will get 150 shards, +1 Charisma and the achievement From Akatsurai, with Love.

Back to Chambara
Sail downriver to Ringhorn and use the Vade Mecum to get to Aku.

Preparation
At Aku, explore the city, visit the slums and the slumlord to access the secret market. Buy some Faery Mead for 200 shards.

Now, go to the regular market and buy a second Rope and a Potion of Healing.

Finally, take the Black Pagoda Seal out of your stash and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara.

Getting a Mask
Leave Chambara and move north to Tiger Road and further north to Floodlands. There you are looking for the event "8-12 a penniless actor".

If you don't get it "move on over land" and reroll the area via Tiger Road.
Once you get it, pay the actor 300 shards and you will get a Dragon Mask. You will also unlock additional plays in Hagashin.

The Bridge
Move west to Black Swan Bridge. "Accept her challenge" and "tell her to get on and fight".
(Note: Her sword is cursed and weakens the wielder. Do not trade!)

The fight is not difficult, but she has a very high block chance. Thus, you might want to prepare some spells/abilities before fighting her. If she gets lucky critical hits, just use your Potion of Healing.

On the reward screen you should pick the Agate Swan and the Iron Fan. The armor and the sword just fill up your inventory.

To the Pagoda
From the bridge head to west to Gai River Mouth and reach the Black Pagoda.

At the Pagoda
Knock at the door and stand your ground. Show him the Black Pagoda Seal.

"Pretend to drink" the wine. (Note: Drinking the wine will greatly harm you. Don't do it!)

Now, offer him a bottle of Faery Mead and give the raven some rope. The combat check will auto-complete and the giant will be dead.

You will gain +1 Rank and the achievement Towering Achievement. Further, you should pick +1 Thievery.

Additionally, you will gain 2500 shards and a lot of items. Make sure to pick up the Pink Rice. The other items do not matter. If you are still carrying Potions of Healing, you can discard them for more space.

The Box
Move north to Oni Heathland. Here you are looking for the event "2-5 asked to run an errand". If you do not get it, reroll the area via Black Pagoda.

Once you get it, agree to deliver the item and pick up the Lacquer Box.

Back to Chambara
Return to Chambara via Gai River Mouth, Black Swan Bridge (show the Agate Swan), Sakkaku and Tiger Road.

Here, stash the Agate Swan and the Iron Fan. You will not be needing those for a while.

Pink Rice
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku. Visit the palace and "go to the audience chamber". Choose "the Compiler of Confectionery Surprises". This will start a quest. Choose him again and you will complete the quest. Your rewards will be 500 shards, the achievement The Rice is Right and an ability points.

You should pick:
  • Warrior: +1 Scouting
  • Mage: +1 Combat
  • Priest: +1 Sanctity
  • Rogue: +1 Scouting
  • Wayfarer: +1 Sanctity
  • Troubadour: +1 Sanctity

Inventory
Sell drop or stash all the random items you picked up after killing the giant. Then, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara.

Traveling East
Leave the city and go east via The Great Saddle Road and Hunting Lodge to reach Mukogawa. Here, take the passage to Kaiju.

Delivery
Leave the town and head north to Moorland. The event you are looking for is "9-12 a woman in white". If you don't get it, reroll the area via Kaiju.

Once you get it, hand her the Lacquer Box and you will gain the achievement What's In the Box. Further, you will gain +1 Combat, but also lose -2 Sanctity. Return to Kaiju.

Information Gathering
Leave the town and go to Inland.

This area has two noteworthy events:
  • 2-6 A funeral: If you get this, just go back to bed. There is nothing to gain in this event.
  • 10-12 A Storyteller: This is what you want. As you have the Dragon Mask on you, he will tell you the story about the mujina.

The Shogun
Once you are done turn south to Countryside and further south to Hillsides.

"Help the knights" and you will auto-pass a combat check. This gives you the title Hatamoto. Ignore the weapons.

Back to Mokugawa
Head north via Countryside, to reach Kaiju. As none of the passages are safe, go to the harbor and buy a barque for 250 shards.

Set sail and travel to Udai Island but move on. Now you can head to Mukogawa. Here, you can sell the barque for 240 shards.

The Moonrise Clan
Go to the manor and see the spymaster. Accept his mission and leave the manor. Leave the city and head west to Chambara via Hunting Lodge and The Great Saddle Road.

Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yarimura and visit the palace. You will gain a Sealed Letter. Use the Vade Mecum again, to go back to Chambara.

Leave the city and head east via The Great Saddle Road and Hunting Lodge to reach Mokugawa.

Go to the manor and visit the spymaster. You will get 350 shards and the achievement For Your Eyes Only. Either discard the Sealed Letter or hand it to the shogun for a small reward.
DLC - Chapter 2: The Tengu King
Preparation
In Mukogawa, stash all of your shards. You won't need them and the tengus are jealous of rich people. Also, take the Rod of Teleportation out of your stash.

The Rogue
From Mukogawa head north via Eastern Road and Jorogumo's Parlour to reach Countryside. Here, you are looking for the event "9-12 a rogue in a thicket". If you do not get it, reroll the area via Chompo.

Once you get it, fight him. You shouldn't have much trouble. After you win, spare him and hand him the Dragon Mask. You will gain +1 Thievery as a reward.

The Mujina
Now, move to Outskirts. The event you are looking for is "10-12 a solitary traveler". If you do not get it, reroll the area via Crossroads to the north.

Once you get it "offer to help" and your face will get stolen.

Getting Your Face Back
Now head west to Kwaidan Forest. "Go upstream" and "climb the ridge above the waterfall". Now, "look for a brook" and "press on across the clearing". Lastly, "search for a way out".

This will lead you to a roll.
  • 2-7 A woodland path: Select "press deeper into the woods" and "search for a way out". This allows you to reroll this event.
  • 8-9 A great black bear: You have to fight a bear, which is not hard. After you win, select "press deeper into the woods" and "search for a way out". You can then reroll this event.
  • 10-12 An eerie grotto: This is what you are looking for. Select "you remember an important detail" and you will find the mujina again. Stay hidden until she's gone and since you have met her before, you can choose a face to pick up. It is important that you "take the other face instead". You will then get the achievement Face Off.

The Tengu King (1st boon)
Now, "press deeper into the woods" and you will auto-pass a scouting check. "Penetrate deeper into the forest" leads to another scouting check, that you can pass. Finally, "go deeper into the woods", leads to a third scouting check to pass.

You will then reach the tengus. Since you are not carrying any shards, you will auto-pass the charisma check and the tengu king will give you his first boon, +2 Maximum Stamina.

Exiting Kwaidan Forest
There are six random areas you could end up at, when leaving Kwaidan Forest.
  • Area 1 - Northern Road: If you roll "9-12 The victim of a mugging" do not help them up, as it could be a trap and you could lose all of your shards. Now, enter the western part of Kwaidan Forest.
  • Area 2 - Hills: There are no events there. Enter the western part of Kwaidan Forest.
  • Area 3 - Rice Paddies: If you get "9-12 A storm brewing", you have to fight a Thunder Beast. As your magic skill should be very high, this is not dangerous. Swim across Chu River and you will end up at Floodlands. Finally, move over land to Area 2 - Hills.
  • Area 4 - Satsu Pass: If you get "10-12 Lost children", you can either help or not. There is no reward or penalty. Now, move to Area 1 - Northern Road.
  • Area 5 - Kwaidan Heights: If you get "9-12 Unexpected Hospitality", just "tell them you must be going" right away. Afterwards, move west to Area 2 - Hills.
  • Area 6 - Borderlands: If you get "9-12 Uncanny happenings", you will get a Compass. You can ignore that. From there, move to Area 5 - Kwaidan Heights.

Getting Back to the Tengu King
Once you enter the western part of Kwaidan Forest, you can encounter vampires, if you roll the event "8-12 Footfalls in the gloom". If you do, just use the combat roll and you will auto-pass.

Afterwards, "press deeper into the woods", "penetrate deeper into the forest" and "go deeper into the woods", to reach the tengu king.

The Tengu King (2nd boon)
Since you are not carrying any shards, you will auto-pass the charima check and you will gain +1 Thievery. Again, you will be teleported to one of the six random areas. Make your way back to him.

The Tengu King (3rd boon)
The third time you encounter the tengu king, you actually have to do a roll:
  • 2-6 You get it very wrong: Rolling this would normally result in -1 Combat. However, as this is not tied to an achievement, you can simply use the Rod of Teleportation to get out of the event, without being affected.
  • 7 The lesson teaches you nothing: Does nothing to your combat score.
  • 8-12 The lesson proves to be useful: You gain +1 Combat.
Thus, at worst you don't gain anything and end up in Yarimura. Just use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara and work your way back to the tengu king.

The Tengu King (4th boon)
This time you will get +1 Magic and the achievement Evermore. This is the final boon.

Going Back to Chambara
Unless you get teleported to Northern Road or Satsu Pass, it is very easy to get back to Chambara.

If you got teleported to either Northern Road or Satsu Pass you should go to Narai and then south-west to Grey Mounds (continue on your way), Oni Heathland, Rice Paddies (swim across River Chu). This will teleport you to Floodlands (move over land). Finally go to Tiger Road and reach Chambara.

Alternatively, you could just enter the forest again and roll for another location.
DLC - Chapter 3: Monk Training
(Note: If you own the new DLC you might not want to do this now as getting your Sanctity to 12 is kinda of a hindrance. Thus, you should skip this part.)

Preparations
Take your shards out of the stash and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku. Buy a Potion of Stealth and a Potion of Nature.

Now, check your skill-book. The next fight has unique mechanics and is a lot easier, if you have the skills Curse and Tactical Assessment.

If you are missing Curse, teleport to Yellowport and take the passage to Marlock City. Here, you can buy the skill for 1440 shards.
If you are missing Tactical Assessment, teleport to Ringhorn, explore and travel upriver to Castle Ravayne. At the armory you can pick up the skill for 1440 shards.

Lastly, open your skill-book and remove all active and passive skills except for Curse and Tactical Assessment.
(Note: Obviously you could also keep some skills, but be aware that stuff like Combat Dodge is actually detrimental, so you should not use it.)

Once you are ready, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara.

The Monastery
Head south via Mikado Road, Shingen and Urushi Mountains. "Search for the monastery" will move you to Noboro Monastery.

Before you start you training, drink both potions. Now, un-equip your White Sword and put it into your inventory. Otherwise you might get 1-shot.

Now, "train as a monk", "begin your training" and "leave all your possessions".
(Note: If you try to hide something, the monks will steal all of your equipment. Don't try!)

Thanks to the potions, you will auto-complete both a scouting and a thievery check. Now, "stand your ground and fight".

This fight is not hard, if you are prepared. Use Curse and Tactical Assessment on cooldown and you will likely do 6 damage per turn. (97% chance to hit.)

As a reward, you will gain 1000 shards, +1 Rank and the achievement One With Everything. Further, your sanctity will get set to 12. Thus, you should also get the achievement Power Unleashed.

Returning to Chambara
Pick your items back up and reequip them. Then, head north via Urushi Mountains, Shingen and Mikado Road to reach Chambara.
DLC - Chapter 4: The One Ring
Preparations
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Yellowport. Here, visit the temple of Maka and get a blessing of Immunity to Disease and Poison. Now, teleport to Aku and buy a couple of Potions of Healing. Three or four should be enough.

Also, go to the temple of Ebron and get Defence Through Faith (blessing).

Lastly, go back to your usual skills for the next two fights.

Back into the Forest
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport back to Chambara. As you will meet the tengu king again, deposit most of your shards, but keep at least 10 so you can pay for the ferry.

Now, explore the city and "pay to go upriver". "Go further upriver" and "use the serpent's head as a stepping stone". This will start a quest.

Optional: The Goblin Spider
You can ignore this fight if you want to. There is no achievement tied to it.

However, this is your only chance you get to fight the spider. The rewards is a unique weapon (Despoiler).

If you want to get it, "go through the gate" and "approach the main shrine". "Advance with caution" and you will auto-complete a thievery check. "Prepare for a fight" and "fight the abomination".

Back in Kwaidan Forest
"Go upstream", "go towards the oak", "climb down to the door" and "enter the tomb". "Take the left-hand tunnel" and withdraw the spear. This gives you a unique weapon (Tenkai).

You are Chosen by Nagil, however you should still "refuse" to let him drink your blood. Instead, fight him. Before engaging, use the Defence Through Faith.

The rewards for defeating him are 2500 shards, a Hyperium Wand (+6) and the achievement Morituri Te Salutant.

Now, "penetrate deeper into the forest" until you reach the tengu king again and make your way back to Chambara.

Forging the Ring
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Ringhorn. "Go West" towards Uttaku and enter the Old Castle.

Summon Targdaz and "have him create a powerful artifact". This will start a quest. Select the option again and the quest will complete. Your reward will be the Ring of Ultimate Power and the achievement The One Ring.

Equip the new ring and stash the Ring of Defence. Leave the castle and move east via Coastal Road to Ringhorn.
DLC - Chapter 5: Finishing Up
There are three more quick achievements to mop up.

The Blue Dragon
The first one requires you to fight another dragon. To prepare, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Aku and buy a couple of Potions of Healing.

Now, go to the temple and get another Defence Through Faith (blessing) and lastly, take the Iron Fan out of your stash.

Once you are done, use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara.

image

Go east via The Great Saddle Road and Hunting Lodge to reach Mukogawa. There, take the passage to Kaiju. Now, go southeast to Countryside and east to Yasai Mountains.

At Yasai Mountains a couple of scouting checks will trigger, but you can easily pass them. "Go higher" and "press on" when prompted. You will encounter a dragon, but because of the Iron Fan, the fight will become easier.

Remember to use the Defence Through Faith before starting the fight.

Once the dragon is dead, "search the dragon's lair". You will get a couple of shards (1d6 times 1000). Further, since you are on a quest, you can "search for the royal sceptre" and simply pick it up.

The Choice
Once you are done, go back to Kaiju via Countryside. There, buy a barque and set sail to Udai Island. Move on and reach Mukagawa. You can sell the barque again, if you want.

Leave Mugokawa and head west to Chambara via Hunting Lodge and The Great Saddle Road.

In Chambara, explore the city and "pay to go upriver". "Go further upriver" and you will meet the river deity again. Now you have a choice.

(A) Give him the Royal Sceptre.
This is the intended course of the game. You will complete the quest and get the achievement Render Unto God. Further, you will get a blessing of Imperviousness to Storms.

This is permanent and means that storms can never harm you, independent of what type of ship you sail. This reward is very unique and amazing for upcoming DLCs, which will see a lot of traveling by ship.

The guide assumes, that you are taking this outcome.

(B) Keep the Royal Sceptre to yourself.
This will trigger an incredibly tough magic check (difficulty 25). If you fail this check, you will not get anything.

However, you can actually stack the deck against this check and (most likely) beat it.
Your magic skill should be 18 (12+5+1). You can three Large Potions of Intellect at the elf glade in the Forest of the Forsaken in Golnir. This brings you skill up to 20.

Lastly you can reroll the check twice (magic blessing + luck blessing). As such, you need to roll a 6 or higher on three 2d6 rolls. The chances for this are around 98%.

If you pass the check, you will also get the achievement Render Unto God and a special weapon that gives +1 to all abilities.

Aiding the Queen
Once you are done, you will come across another shrine. "Continue on your way", "go towards the rock spire", "turn back and try another path" and "look for a path out".

You will end up in one of the six random locations again. Make your way back to Chambara.
Here, stash the Iron Fan and take the Agate Swan with you.

Leave chambara and head northwest via Tiger Road, Sakkaku, Black Swan Bridge (show swan), Gai River Mouth, Oni Heathland, Grey Mounds and finally reach Narai.

Go to the Harbor, buy a barque and set sail. Sail north to Oni's Edge. Nothing bad can happen to you here. Even if you encounter a storm, you do have an infinite blessing to protect you.

Sail east to Kito Bluffs. This area is tricky, as there are two rare unwanted events. You should use a luck blessing if you encounter either of them to safe some time. However, sadly this is all up to luck.
  • 2 Carried by a strong current. - This will move you down to Udai Island. If you roll this, I recommend sailing to Mukogawa, sell the barque and traveling all the way back to Narai.
  • 11-12 Pirates. - This forces you into an (easy) fight against a pirate. However, it will also teleport you to Inn of Perfect Contentment. If you roll this, just leave your ship at the inn, walk back to Narai and try again.

Once you are lucky and roll "3-10", sail north towards Jawbone Isles. "Stay the course", "go with him" and "do as she bids". (Note: You will easily auto-pass all checks.)

Now return to Narai via Kito Bluffs and Oni's Edge.
(Note: If you run into an unwanted event, you don't have to go back to Narai, you can simply go south to Hagashin. The passage from Hidari to Hagashin is safe.)

At Narai you can sell your barque and take the passage to Hagashin. This passage is safe.

Leave Hagashin and go south to Shaku Interior. There are two noteworthy events.
  • 2-5 A plaintive cry: When you encounter this event for the first time, you can rescue a deity. This will give you a resurrection deal (that you don't need). If you roll this again, you will get random items, that you can ignore. Reroll the area via Hagashin.
(Note: Owning a Crimson Arrow can be very detrimental to you. You should definitely not pick that up, if you randomly get it.)
  • 9-12 A wizard's mansion: This is what you want. Once you roll it, select "can't or won't pay" and "you are the queens champion". This will reward you with the achievement The Sting and a couple of items. You should pick them all up. Return to Hagashin.
Leaving Hagashin is kind of annoying, as none of the passages are safe. Thus, buy a barque at the harbour and set sail. Sail west to Mizuchi Strait and east to Hidari.
(Note: If you roll pirates at Mizuchi Strait, you will get teleported to Inn of Perfect Contentment after winning the fight.)

Leave north towards Inn of Perfect Contentment, Shingen and Mikado Road to reach Chambara.

Preparation
Before continuing, you should first stash the Agate Swan, the Fretwork Key, the Green Gem, the Scarab Amulet and the Faery Mead. You might need them in future DLCs.

Junior Court Rank
Now, go to the royal quarter and "go to the palace". As you have not been here yet, you can "go across the garden to the gazebo". Now, "offer to find the girl".

You will automatically complete the required checks and get the achievement Cyrano d'Akatsurai and the title Junior Court Rank. Feel free to ignore the Shurikans.

This concludes the chapter.
DLC - Chapter 6: Not Recommended
You should now have all the achievements in the DLC except for two.

Unless you are a Troubadour, in which case you can get A bard's tale easily, I sincerely do not recommend getting these last two achievements as they will ruin your character for upcoming DLCs.

As such, do NOT continue with the guide and follow the "detrimental achievements" section at the bottom. Alternatively, if you are not playing on iron-man, just make a dedicated save here, that you can reload later.

Becoming a Priest (skip if you are a Troubadour)
Unless you are a Troubadour, you have to become a priest to get the final achievement. You can do this by leaving Chambara via Mikado Road and Shingen to Clearwater Shrine.

Unless you roll 6-7, you will get to the shrine. If you are unlucky, just reroll via Shingen.
(Note: If you meet the two knights, just join their pilgrimage and you will reach the shrine.)

At the shrine, donate 100 shards, otherwise you cannot roll for a boon. As your Sanctity and Charisma are both high, it doesn't matter what you pick.

Now you need to roll a 5. However, note that most of the outcomes are probably negative. Most likely you will even get your rank reduced before rolling a 5. This is why I sincerely do not recommend doing this.

Anyway, eventually you will roll a 5 and become a priest.

Blue Dragon (again)
Now, head north to Hunting Lodge and east to Mukogawa. Take the Iron Fan out of your stash and take the passage to Kaiju.

Go east to Inland and reroll the area until you get 10-12 A storyteller. This time, he will tell you how about the dragon.

Now go south to countryside and east to Yasai Mountains. "Go higher" and "press on" to fight the dragon again. After you kill it, "recall what to do upon the dragon's death" and "swallow the pearl".

You will get the achievement Not to Scale, the title Dragonborn and some modifications to your stats. Most notably, your sanctity will get lowered to 1.

Furthermore, you can not be a priest anymore. Pick troubadour, as this is what you need for the last achievement.

(Note: The main reason why you should never become "dragonborn", is that you cannot be initiated to gods anymore. This could have desastrous consequences in upcoming DLCs, if certain quests require initiatens to gods. An example from the base game would be the Aku storyline requiring to be initated to Ebron. As such I HIGHLY discourage you from doing this, if you want to continue with the character.)

Now search the dragon's lair and return to Kaiju via Countryside. Buy a barque and sail west to Mukogawa. Leave and go west to Chambara via Hunting Lodge and The Great Saddle Road.

Senior Court Rank
As you are a Troubadour now, you can get the final achievement. Return to the Royal Quarter and "go to the palace". After a few paragraphs, "play as the sovereign requests". As you are a troubadour, you will automatically get the best outcome and be promoted to Senior Court Rank and get the achievement A Bard's Tale.

This concludes the game for now. You have not gotten every single achievement in the game in a single playthrough. Congratulations!

Appendix 2a: Detrimental Achievements
I highly recommend NOT doing some achievements on your Ironman-save, as some of them have very detrimental outcomes. If you want to continue with that character in future DLCs, then you should consider doing those achievement on another save.

Detrimental outcomes are:
  • Reducing your maximum stamina.
  • Reducing your ability scores (namely sanctity).
  • Removing your ability to become initiated to a god. (This could lock you out of future quests.)
  • Changing your class and therefore your visual appearance.
As such, you should do them on a separate character. This is a section explaining how to get them quickly.

Character and Setup
Pick Troubadour on Explorer difficulty. Gender and customization does not matter.

Preparation: Vial of Yellow Dust
Go to Obsidian Stones and teleport to Marlock City. Explore the city and visit the Street of the Entertainers. "Go over to him", "pay the money" and "leave". "Wait and follow the scholar", "chase the muggers off" and "help him up".

Pick up the Vial of Yellow Dust.

Move via Trefoille, Road Tavern, Main Road, Caran Baru and Coldbleak to Blessed Springs.
Explore and enter the Holy Waters. Throw in the Vial of Yellow Dust. You should pick +1 Combat.

Accept the task and pick up the Amulet of Protection. Now leave via Coldbleak, Caran Baru and Main Road to reach Lake of the Sea Dragon. Buy a Silver Nugget at the market and explore the area. Hire a fishing boat, pay, hand over the nugget and catch the tail. The outcome of the thievery check does not matter, since you have the amulet.

Pick up the Magic Chest, Plate Armor, Ebony Wand and 500 shards.

Leave and go back to Main Road, Road Tavern and Trefoille. Meet the Wizard and you will gain +1 Magic.

Preparation: Trading with the Trau
Travel on, go to Marlock City and take the passage to Wishport. Leave via East Road and go to Metriciens. Leave Metriciens and go to Clifftop. Investigate the Fort and pick the "right-hand door". You will gain 300 shards and two items. Return to Metriciens and take the passage to Ringhorn.

Go to the market and sell everything. Also sell your starting equipment and drop the Amulet of Protection, if you still have it. Now, explore the city, travel upriver twice and stop off at Delpton.

Explore the town and "go west". "Continue in Old Harkuna" and reroll Old Harkuna via High King's Seat until you get the market. You can also quicksave/reload, but I don't think it's much faster. Buy 11 Faery Mead and a Selenium Ore.

Leave the area via High King's Seat, Troll Bridge (pay 5 shards), Hall of Heroes, Farmlands and Aku. If you get the Wizard's Workshop event, ignore it for now.

Take the passage to Metriciens. Leave via East Road to go to Haggart's Corner. Explore and ask about trading with the trau. Then move out to the standing stones. Reroll this area (or quicksave/reload) until the trau arrive.

Sell the 11 Faery Mead for 9900 Mithral. Buy a Vulcanium Mail and 4 Selenium Wands. Also pick up a Were-boar Tusk. Equip the Vulcanium Mail. Leave and pay 1 Mithral.

Preparation: Top Gear + Vade Mecum
Leave the area and go back south via East Road to Metriciens. Take the passage to Ringhorn. Leave and "Go West" via Thurlings, Hall of Heroes, Farmlands to Aku.

If you get the Wizard Workshop, you can equip a Selenium Wand and do it now, or instead wait for the next section.
(Note: Save, as there is a small chance to fail, if you do the magic check right now.)

At Aku, sell the 4 Selenium Wands. Buy a Celestium Wand and equip it. Now, go to Farmlands and reroll the area (or quicksave/reload) until you get the Wizards Workshop. Hand over the Selenium Ore and counter with a spell of you own. You will auto-complete the check. Pick up the Cobalt Wand, but leave the Amulet of Ebron and the Selenium Ore. Make sure to pick up the Vade Mecum on the second reward screen. Return to Aku.

Sell the Cobalt Wand and now buy:
  • Bolts (two sets, aka 20)
  • Enchanted Crossbow
  • Centaur Flute
  • Gloves of Sig
  • Gold Holy Symbol
  • Sextant
  • Rope
  • Lantern
  • Climbing Gear
  • Wolf Pelt
Equip everything.

1st Achievement: Bat Market
Once you are done, take the passage to Metriciens and travel north via East Road and Haggart's Corner to Whistling Heath. Pick "West", "South", "East" and pick up the Key of Stars.

Move to Troilus' Inn and buy a round to gain some information. Leave to Whistling Heath (north, north, north) and move further north via Tekshin Tavern, Goldfall, Rainbow River to Waterfall.

"Stay here a while longer", "tell them to show you the treasure", "enter the left-hand cave", "enter the tunnel" and "open the copper chest". Input the word: magical. Take the Magic Shield. Equip it.

Go to Forsaken Forest, "press on", "go along the path" and "you know what to do". Pick up the items. "Continue along the path", "go right", "go west" and "unlock the door using the Key of Stars".

"Approach the wolves", "you don't have one". Save before the fight and "fight".
(Note: Summon your clones behind yourself and keep shooting bolts.)

"Climb the stairs" and pick up the items. Equip the Regal Helm. "Gather some treasure", but don't pick up any shards. Select "done" and save your game.

Do the luck roll, until you get lucky. You will get +1 Thievery and the achievement Bat Market. "Go south" and "leave the forest".

Go south via Rainbow River, Goldfall, Tekshin Tavern, Monastery of Molhern, Whistling Heath (north, north, north), Haggart's Corner, East Road and Metriciens. Here, take the passage to Ringhorn and subsequently the passage to Yellowport.

2nd Achievement: A Bard's Tale
Take the passage to Isle of Druids and visit the shrine to Lacuna. Talk to the priestess twice to hand over your Were-boar Tusk and get +1 Scouting. Leave the temple and take the passage back to Yellowport.

Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara. Go to the royal quarter and "go to the palace". You have never been there, so select "go across the garden to the gazebo" and "offer to find the girl". Since you are a Troubadour, this will lead to a charisma check. Save your game, as there is a low chance to fail (chance to fail ~8%). Reload until you get it. Ignore the reward and return to the city.

Go to the royal quarter again and go to the palace. After a couple of options, "play as the sovereign requests". Since you are a troubadour, this will not even trigger a check.

Go to the palace yet again and "volunteer for the job". Select the magic check and save. Reload until you pass (chance to fail ~28%). You should get the achievement A Bard's Tale. You can ignore the rewards.
(Note: Sadly I cannot check when the achievement triggers exactly. Maybe getting senior court rank is good enough.)
Appendix 2b: Detrimental Achievements
3rd Achievement: Not to Scale
Here you have to do a tough fight. Some preparation should be done to make this easy.

Preparation: Passive Skills
Take the Vade Mecum to Yellowport. Sell random reward items you picked up in the last chapter and drop the Key of Stars, if you still have it. Buy Combat Dodge and Archery. Learn them both.

Preparation: Potions of Healing
Take the Vade Mecum to Aku. Buy a couple of Potions of Healing four should be enough.

Preparation: Quick Round in Sokara
Take the Vade Mecum to Yellowport. Go to the taverns and pay for drinks. Accept the quest and leave to Venefax and Scorpion Bight.

Kill the scorpion men and "go for it now". Pick up the Book of the Seven Sages and return to Yellowport. Go to the tavern and pick +1 Combat. If you got poisoned, clear it at the temple of Maka.

Leave, go to Shadar Tor and accept the quest. "Continue on the road." Go to Marlock City, go to the tavern and pay for drinks. Accept the quest. Go to the temple, visit the House of Priests, pay 10 shards and accept the quest.

Leave the city and go to Crustmoor. "Mount one of them", "hold on" and pick up both items.

Go to Devil's Peak. "Climb the peak", "make the ascent", Thievery Roll. Save before the sanctity roll (~8% chance to fail). You will gain +3 to maximum stamina. Leave the area.

Move north-west via Forest of Larun, the Bronze Hills to Dragon Knights' Castle. "Seek the Black Dragon Knight" and "fight the Black Dragon Knight". Take the shield and move east via Bronze Hills to Caran Baru. Go to the tavern and "ask the innkeeper about Yanryt the Son". Turn the quest in for +1 Combat.

Leave and turn north to Northern Road and Eastern Foothills. "Climb upwards", "use climbing gear" and "ask Damor about the Greatest Story". Pick up Weapon Mastery and learn it. Leave.

Turn south-east via Northern Road, Caran Baru, Coldbleak and Fort Brilon. Quicksave/Reload the area until you get "5-6 A peculiar find." Pick up the helmet. Move to Fort Estgard and accept the quest. Move to Nerech, "venture forth", move to Uphill, "pull the manbeast's helmet over your head", the sanctity check doesn't matter, "put on the helmet regardless", save if there is a chance to fail the magic check.

You will gain +1 Magic and trigger a fight. Pick up both rewards. Drop the Manbest's Helmet. You will return to Fort Estgard and get +1 Combat. Move to Nerech, "venture forth" and move to Shoreline. Hitch a lift to Yarimura. Sell the two spears you picked up.

Preparation: Iron Fan and Black Pagoda
In Yarimura, buy a second Rope and use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Chambara.

Leave the city and move west to Tiger Road and Sakkaku to Black Swan Bridge. "Accept her challenge" and "tell her to get on and fight". Save and do the fight.

and
Explore the city, "visit the grand bazar", "set up in business", "preach the word of god" and "preach about Ebron". Save your game as there is a chance to fail the sanctity check (chance to fail ~28%).

After you succeed, go to the temple, "Hall of Ablution", pay the money and "go to the cathedral". Seek a blessing and use it right away. Seek another blessing and keep it.

Buy a couple of Potions of Healing, three should be more than enough.

Take the Vade Mecum to Chambara and leave the city. Go to Tiger Road and Sakkaku to reach Black Swan Bridge.

"Accept her challenge" and "tell her to get on and fight". Before triggering the fight, save. Afterwards pick up the Agate Swan and the Iron Fan. Ignore the rest. Go to Gai River Mouth and reach the Black Pagoda.

"Knock at the door", "stand your ground", "you have the seal", "pretend to drink", "offer him Faery Mead", "give the raven some rope". Save, as there is a ~3% chance to fail the combat check. You will gain +1 Rank, pick +1 Combat. Pick up the Pink Rice and the Dragon Head.
(Note: If you want to pick the other rewards up, you can.)

Leave via Gai River Mouth, Black Swan Bridge (show her the agate swan), Sakkaku, Tiger Road to Chambara.

Preparation: Castle Ravayne
Use the Vade Mecum to teleport to Ringhorn. Explore the city and travel upriver to Castle Ravayne. Visit the castle and enter the inner keep. Request an audience with the baroness. Select "in pursuit of a quest" and "slaying a monster" twice to gain +1 Rank. You can ignore the skills.

Leave and sail downriver to Ringhorn. Take the Vade Mecum to Aku.

Preparation: Aku
Explore the city, "visit the grand bazaar", "set up in business", "declare yourself a great wizard". Save to pass through the checks (low chance to fail). Pay 2400 shards to purchase the items. Save to pass some more checks and you will gain the Ring of Defence and the Holy Sword. Equip both items and activate the sword by switching weapons.

Explore the city again, "visit the grand bazaar", "set up in business", "preach the word of god" and "preach about Ebron". Save to pass the sanctity check (~28% chance to fail). Leave and go back to the city.

Go to the temple, Hall of Ablution, pay the money, go to the cathedral and get a blessing.

Go to the palace and pay shards until you get into the audience chamber. Visit the Compiler of Confectionery Surprises and hand him the Pink Rice. Pick +1 Combat.

Finally, return to the city and fill your inventory with Potions of Healing. It should look like this:

Optional: Further Preparation
If you are still missing the two other achievements from the Sokaran Civil War, now would be a good time to get them. Consult the corresponding chapter in the main guide for that. Further, you can also get the +1 Rank from Castle Orlock if you really want to. However, it should not be necessary.

Finally, the Dragon
Take the Vade Mecum to Chambara. Leave the city and go east via The Great Saddle Road, Hunting Lodge and Mukogawa. Take the passage to Kaiju.

Move to Inland and reroll (or quicksave/reload) until you get "10-12 a storyteller".
(Note: If you get the funeral, just sleep on.)

Once you get it, go south to Countryside and Yasai Mountains. Save to pass the scouting check (chance to fail ~17%). Go higher and press on. Save to pass the hard scouting check (chance to fail ~58%).

You have the iron fan to weaken the dragon. Before you trigger the fight, use the blessing Defense Through Faith and save. This should be incredibly easy now.

Finally "recall what to do upon a dragon's death" and swallow the pearl. This will trigger the achievement Not to Scale.

Now move south-west to Shoreline

It's south-east.

(Note: If you want to get some additional shards, then you can explore the city during the day again and select the poor quarter again. Buy the three lanterns for 150 shards and sell them at the market for 270 shards. This can only be done once.)

They've bought three lanterns only for 90 each.

Hey I'm glad to hear it! Thank you so much for the guide, and I'm really looking forward to see the changes you will make!

I am currently reworking the whole guide due to the upcoming addition of the bestiary. A lot of the strategies that are used in this are not optimal anymore, as the guide generally avoids fighting.

It is sadly taking a lot of time to redo everything.

Bruh can you update this guide for the new DLC?

@... The monk says this because you failed the tests before. You only get one chance to do this since the saint of Vulture Peak is not in the game (yet).

Can't get One with everything, for some reason monks say I'm not ready

It's pretty understandable by my perspective, but, if you want it, this guide will become even more a masterpiece!
