Technique:
You just stand to the left of the altar, wait for him to approach the top of the hill to your left, then quickly run to the right of the altar and drop the tablet on top of yourself. It messes up his pathfinding, and he ends up going in your general direction and getting stuck at the bottom-left of the altar. His body can erase solid matter, but he stops in the area. He then proceeds to shoot in your direction while standing there. Doesn't always line up, but when it does, his purple shots hit the altar brickwork and damage him. Takes a long time waiting for him to kill himself, usually 5-10 minutes. Depends on how well lined-up it is, and how often he decides to actually shoot those purple exploding shots.
