"Current work in progress of a Japan map, based on the central region, between Tokyo and Hiroshima, centered around the Keihanshin (Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe) and Nagoya areas.

This playthrough focuses in network replication. All JR lines, except very small ones in urban areas, are replicated, and so are most private railways, barring subway lines. The expressway network and all domestic air routes are also replicated.

Being a megalomaniac map with lots of cities, the map uses multiple techniques to keep population down - and performance up. Also, lines are slow due to curves and frequent stops and one-tracked lines. As such, lines are not meant to be profitable, although the Tokaido Shinkansen and a select air routes still manage to be profitable."
