Notes from this guide
I did it quickly, use google translate, there will be possible spelling errors, sorry
Comment if I'm wrong in any information or missing any useful tip
Settings
  • Resolution (important): recommended to adjust to one where you can easily see the entire battlefield, while you can see the game well, you have to avoid constantly moving your eyes between your field and the enemy field
Basically with the resolution we can control the "zoom in/out" of the game, if the zoom is too close you won't be able to see all the way of the worlds
In my case the resolution is not saved when I start the game again, and I have to change it every time I play, I don't know why
  • Screenshake: recommended 'NONE', at first it is not a bother, but in serious and long-lasting games it is very annoying, distracting, and can make you dizzy when you have to pay attention to so many things
  • Spell preview: recommended 'ON', when you have to choose cards after a fight you can see what each one does, even if it is 'OFF' you can see them by pressing the 'E' key
  • Spell labels: recommended 'OFF', place acronyms on the 2 cards that your character has on his head, taking away a bit of visibility
  • Readability: recommended 'OFF', in case of being 'ON' it will make the texts of the cards bigger, and you will lose the 'labels', which are small texts that appear in most of the cards in the lower left area
  • Angel mode: if you are new it is recommended to activate to the maximum, it does not influence to get unlockables, achievements, or anything else, do not feel cheated when using it or a bad player, without this option it will be very difficult for you to progress learning in the game, in fact the game should have it on and decrease as you play more
  • Aim marker: recommended 'ON', will put a 4th square marker in front of you, very useful for spells that attack 4 tiles away and to quickly see which lane you're attacking the enemy on
  • Hold movement: recommended 'OFF', when you activate them you can hold a movement key and the character will automatically move in that direction, but it will not be as fast as if you did it manually, it can also lead to erratic movements by pressing the movement key a little more
  • Menu music: the music will be deactivated when 'ESC' is pressed, personally I deactivate it to be able to pause the music when someone speaks to me or I want to change the window with 'ALT+TAB'
  • Hold to skip: recommended 'OFF', makes you have to hold down the keys on card selection after a battle, taking up game time
  • Controls: it is recommended to change the 'I' key to open the card menu or shop to a closer key such as 'R', since it is a key that you will press a lot and is very far from where you place your left hand
Character selection screen
  • Spells and Artifacts: can be obtained by playing, although the ones that are Legendary (gold/brown frame) need a lot of luck to be obtained (sometimes you finish a game and you don't get any)
  • Weapon: is the most important part of the character, it cannot be changed, it cannot be obtained with other characters, only the Gunner character with the Bullethell 'kit' can change his weapon via Artifacts to upgraded versions of his own weapon
Also, the most difficult hidden character to unlock has a unique ability, which is quite important compared to the other characters
  • Kits: each character has different 'kits', which you have to unlock, where it changes a lot, even looking like a totally different character
  • Skin: changing the skin only affects the character design
  • Normal game mode: At the beginning you only have Normal game mode, when you finish the game for the first time you will unlock the next difficulty mode, these are called 'Hell Pass', you don't need to activate them to unlock game content or achievements, there is only 1 skin and 1 achievement through them, and it would be always playing the most advanced level of hell pass to unlock the next one, without having to activate all of them at the same time to unlock the next one (unless you want a real challenge)
  • Seed: if you don't type anything, assigns a random numeric 'seed', which can be seen from the roadmap selection (TAB key)
    How does it work:
if you write the seed number of your previous game playing with the same character and loadout it will repeat: same initial world, same selection of initial cards, same initial boss
if you change characters or loadout it will only repeat the same initial world, but I THINK that the worlds also have the same paths
You can enter any word, number, etc... it differentiates uppercase from lowercase, for example: the 'Eden' seed will always start in Ruins and you will have the option on the way to choose Miniboss and Shop
Should something like this be considered cheating?
Yes and no, the legitimate way to play is with a random seed and without Angel mode, but this is just one more resource that the game provides to make it easier, and that is appreciated
  • Alternative skin: hold TAB (map key) when you press 'START' with 'Q' to get a different color palette, this is used in 2 player mode but can also be used here
  • Saffron with Chrono kit is highly recommended for beginners, one of the best characters and it helps a lot to know the attack patterns of the enemies
Playing
  • At the end of your first fight open your inventory to change Focus, sometimes you get an Artifact first and you can select the focus before the Spell selection
  • Each Focus selection subtracts 2 Luck, still it is better to have 2 Focus selected even if they are the same
  • Choose only the necessary Spells, get used to passing Spells in most cases
  • Hazard have more enemies than a normal battle, is more experience-money
  • Destroy structures on Hazard for more exp
  • Destroy enemies that must hatch from an egg for more exp
  • You receive more money when you finish a fight without taking any hits
  • Before starting the next battle, place yourself in the top-left central tile, it is the best position
  • Warm up your fingers before starting a world doing 3x3 circles both ways is a good idea
  • Once you get a gift from a saved hostage, you can kill him right before he leaves to get experience too (hahahh)
  • There are 3 types of hostages, each with a color:
    red = healing
    green = artifact, can't choose between 3
    black with hat = money
  • In the deck menu at the bottom right you have the stats of your character:
    - Red sword is extra damage on your weapon
    - blue lightning is extra damage on your spells, if for example you have 2 spellpower, it will add 2 extra damage to each spell hit, making it better to increase it on multi-hits spells, the same goes for your weapon damage
    - shield, it is the defense and it does not apply to shields, it reduces the damage by the amount you have, the same thing happens... it is good to reduce multi-hits
    - clover, it's luck, after 30 it won't increase the difficulty, but if it increases your possibility of getting spells and artifacts of better rarities, from world 4 or 5 (I don't remember) you reach 30+
    - the number between the words Upgrade and Remove indicates the seconds needed to shuffle the deck, each character-kit has its own starting stats
  • Spend the money to delete the spells you don't want from the beginning, buy max mana, reg mana, and artifacts that are useful for your deck, spell upgrade are the worst investment, they depend on the RNG
  • In case you have upgrades, use them on spells that are 2 or more mana and don't consume
  • More difficult bosses in high levels, that you should go for them as soon as possible in this order:
    Fire - Saffron
    Ruins - Reva
    Ruins - Terra
    Arctic - Selicy
I made this list based on what I found on the internet and based on my own experience, for example there may be people who find Saffron easier than Reva
How to create your own deck
In the main menu of the game go to Library
Top left you can toggle between Spells and Artifacts
If you click a second time on a 'Sort' category it will change the letters to blue sorting by the end
Look for the cards that you like the most and write them down in a text file or physical paper

Knowing that common cards (white) are very easy to get, rare cards (blue) too, but epic cards (purple) are difficult and many times you don't get what you want
legendary (gold) and calamity (rainbow) are not always available in conventional games (they are not loops)

Instead of using the Game Library I would recommend:
https://onestepfromeden.fandom.com/wiki/Spells
Where it is easier to search in the browser for example "4 tiles" and find all the cards that attack 4 tiles
Unlockables

All the information is on this page, it is not made by me
Different endings (spoilers!)
https://onestepfromeden.fandom.com/wiki/FAQ

The wiki is not very clear about endings (for me at least)... I had a hard time knowing how to access the 'Yami' to get Saffron's Solo kit, and how to fight the Gate, I will clarify:

  • Pacifist (Good): Defeat and spare spare all the bosses, sparing or executing the final boss Terrable only changes the final cutscene

  • Neutral: Defeat all the bosses and spare at least 1 of them spare at least 1 and kill 1, at your choice who is better to spare and who is not, although the best choice would be to kill everyone except 1, the final boss will be the Gate, once you beat him, Seriff will appear and kill you, it's part of the ending, this is the easiest ending of all

  • Genocide (Evil) Loop: Defeat and kill all the bosses, excluding Shopkeeper
When you finish the final boss Seriff all your deck will be replaced by the 'Yami' card, and you must use it quickly to kill Serif (last boss), if you don't use it Serif will use an ability to make you go back in time, and you will return to world 1 but keeping everything, the enemies will be more difficult, and you can repeat Spells and Artifacts, being able on this occasion to make another ending

  • Genocide (Evil): Defeat and kill all the bosses, including Shopkeeper, there is no difference with the Genocide Loop WTF

  • Neutral+Genocide: In the Neutral ending you can kill Seriff before she kills you, this would make you receive 'Yami' and you can choose between killing her or looping, I only thought of 1 way to kill her: having a lot of regen mana with Reva by holding down the 'E' key
Bosses spare
Spare negates the choice between 3 Spells of Epic rarity, the choice between 3 Artifacts, and experience, however it heals you 400 HP and also, depending on the boss, it will give you a benefit:

Reva - Ruins - Dead: absorb the killing blow, +400 HP
Violette - Arctic - Battle: 40 Shield, 3 Spell Power, 1 Max Mana (for the rest of the fight)
Terra - Ruins - Battle: temporarily break 6 random enemy tiles
Saffron - Fire - Battle: 200 damage to a random enemy, temporarily break the tile
Hazel - Forest - Battle: summon Gun turret, with hostage will give 90 shield instead (to her)
Selicy - Arctic - Battle: 10 damage, 1 Fragile to 3 random enemies
Shopkeeper - Battle: 6 Sera (money)
Shiso - Forest - Camp: have 1 artifact after one battle (it doesn't give you a choice between 3)
Gunner - Fire - Camp: have +80 HP

Battle = "Occasionally appear at the start of battle" = Like 10% or 20% of chance, based on my own experience, it is very dependent on the RNG

Spare not worth it, except if you want Pacisfist, for Neutral ending just spare Reva for being the best spare, Violette is recommended in case you are playing as Reva and cannot face her
Best things from my own experience
I clarify: I did not start to do mathematical calculations in excel or similar to deduce which is better, so it may be wrong

  • Best character and kit: Reva - Shield
with a lot of reg. mana you can press 'E' and be invincible at times where you can't dodge enemy attacks, very good for times where shuffle time, shopkeeper can quickly equip many artifacts, but Reva's weapon is still superior if you have a lot of mana and reg mana, avoiding random moments where you can't escape being harmed
kit shield because it has a very good legendary item and reva's beat kit damages it, and you avoid taking damage to get more money from battles

  • Best deck: Flow
Barrier is a very good card, and if you are lucky to get Waterfall you will get a lot of damage, avoid cards with flow that move enemies so as not to miss waterfall
Jam Cannon, and Jam Slam are very good cards, but jam decks don't have any cards that scale like Barrier for your shield
My best strategy was the following:
Focus Hearth and Miseri, Miseri only until getting a heal card, then double Hearth
choose these cards (do not move the enemy):
Hearth - Coldstone (Common), Fracture (C), Tremor (C), Barrier (Rare), Fissure (R), Flint Shot (R), Earth Prayer (R), Rock Tomb (R), Waterfall (Epic)
    if you have the chance...
    Doublelift - Echo (E), Time Slow (E), Time Stop (L), Preload (L)
    Glimmer - Eternity Cannon (L)

  • What to spend the money on:
I tried different methods, and then I will say the one that has given me the best result:
    - choose all the cards of a type of focus, and buy all the Removes you need to erase the unwanted cards, so you have a little more chance of having the desired cards of the focus you want because you cannot repeat the cards without being loop, but you will spend a lot of money on removes
    - buy all the possible Artifacts that cannot be repeated (max mana, reg mana, undershirt), and have the necessary max mana and reg mana, so I always got the most desired artifacts, but lost a lot of money on artifacts that I didn't have use
    - my best result: focus on max mana and reg mana, buy only what is necessary, always try to donate blood, refresh stock no more than 2 times, never buy upgrade spell (only if it is the last world and there is money left over)

  • Personal boss tier list, from more difficult to easier (not counting shopkeeper or final bosses):
Saffron, Reva, Terra, Selicy, Violette, Gunner, Shiso, Hazel
