Gain XP from reading, configurable restriction to different skills and other settings - based on (though very very diffrent now) Sarah & Karim's Multiplayer Addons mod with permission (friends of mine actually <3) with added features!

  • Configurable Skill Whitelist/Multipliers Per Skill
  • Optional requirement of light to read
  • Optional ability to get XP while walking (and configure a multiplier for the XP gain)
  • Optional multiplier for XP gained while sitting vs. standing.

Default Skill Whitelist/Multipliers Configuration:
  • 100% (2 levels): Carpentry, Electrical, Mechanics, Metalworking
  • 50% (1 level): Cooking, Farming, Doctor, Tailoring, Fishing, Trapping, Foraging, Maintenance
  • 10% (20% of a level): Aiming, Reloading, Sprinting, Sneaking, Lightfooted, Nimble, Axe, Long Blunt, Short Blunt, Long Blade, Short Blade, Spear, Strength, Fitness

Obviously you'd need book mods that add books for a given skill for those that aren't in the base game.

Any news on this being updated for build 42? This is my favourite skillbook mod and I'm not a fan of stuff like CDDA books, this one is set up just right.

@Zankle, maybe change the sandbox settings ingame. and add the skills via copy and paste.

Hello,

I love your mod been using it on my server for some time however after setting up a fresh server using the literacy mod https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2812583527&searchtext=literacy - and you mod. While i have you mod enabled i am unable to read the learn to read magazine from the literacy mod. I just wanted to give you aheads up. Unfortunately i have had to disabled it for now due to the conflict.

It won't work when we're hosting a multiplayer server from the in-game host option. Am I doing something wrong?

@Agitatio: Option to consume books will come at some point, it's on my radar as a feature as well. Good point about the walking-while-reading, heheh. I tossed that feature in knowing I'd never use it, and never really thought that hard about it at the time - this was one of my first mods. When I revisit it I will change that.

I think instead of multiplying XP gain when sitting/walking it should instead multiply read speed. Why would anyone read while walking if you get less XP by doing that? Plus, I hate to ask but, an option to consume books after fully reading them would've been fantastic.
