About

Here is a main menu replacer for Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition that I made using a footage from another game.

What it Does:
This package of files replaces the background video and removes Ray McCoy's figure from the main menu screen. You can download the full replacer or a separate files to replace any of the mentioned files.

Package content:
  • ["bik" folder] / menu.bik ► Blade Runner 9732 game play footage (1920x1080 60fps, lenght: 25sec)
  • BladeRunnerEngine.kpf ► modified KPF file (to replace mccoy.dds file)

Simply put, now you will have an animated balcony view from the game called Blade Runner 9732 as a main menu screen which in my opinion makes it more immersive.

WARNING!:
The package doesn't contain any installation files, so you need to make backup copies of files listed above if you want to be able to restore them.

Now I'll explain how to install this main menu replacer and what tools and sources I have used in the process of making.
Installation
  1. Download the package from -> here[drive.google.com]
  2. Open it with any file archiver or file manager which is able to extract content from 7z
  3. Drop the content to Blade Runner Enhanced Edition installation folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Blade Runner Enhanced Edition)
  4. Confirm to merge content with "bik" folder
  5. Confirm to replace existing "BladeRunnerEngine.kpf" file with the new one
  6. Done!
(Optional) Download links for separate files:
  • download "menu.bik" from -> here[drive.google.com] and put it to the "bik" folder
  • download "BladeRunnerEngine.kpf" from -> here[drive.google.com] and put it to the installation folder

You can also delete the babyface Ray McCoy from the main menu by yourself (don't forget to make a backup copy). Just open "BladeRunnerEngine.kpf" file with any file archiver/manager which is capable of modifying KPF files. Then, open "menu" folder and delete "mccoy.dds" file. Save (if required) and close the "BladeRunnerEngine.kpf"

Update:
Now the babyface Ray McCoy has been replaced with a small blue dot (1 pixel) - if you manage to find it then consider yourself lucky. ;)
Tools and Sources used
Here's a list of tools which I have used in the process of making of this replacer:

- RAD Video Tools (to be able to convert the MP4 video to BIK)
- QuickTime 7.7.9 for Windows (a necessary package of codecs for converting the MP4 video to BIK)
- 7-Zip File Manager (to open and modify the BladeRunnerEngine.kpf file)

- The source of video is a Blade Runner 9732 game play loop that I have found on youtube some time ago. Unfortunately, I cannot find this video on youtube anymore, so I could not write down any credits for this video file. If you manage to recognize who is the author of this video or if you can even give me a link to the author's channel, then please let me know.

You're welcome, Aussiedroid. Yes that would look better with main menu bars at the left side of the screen. Can't promise that I'll be able to do that, but I will see what I can do.

Thanks for sharing this. It looks great! Kinda wish the menu could be moved to the left side, but still great. :bub_right:

Exactly, i mean the Blade Runner New menu where i select the file to continue playing works perfectly, furthemore the menu doesn't. Is weird and even i put it in the classic way and nothing appears (I thought i put it in a wrong folder)

That's really strange. I checked both the package and the separate menu.bik file that I uploaded, they are working for me.

My only guess is that your system won't allow you to replace the files in your Steam folder for some reason. Take a look at replaced menu.bik: the size of a new file after replacement should be around 70 MB.

Yeah bro, I followed all the step as you said. But still appearing the same old menu.

Did you follow the installation steps? I have tried to install the game anew and unzipped the menu.bik file only, and it works for me.

Be sure to put the menu.bik file into the right folder (where the other bik files are).

Default installation location: Steam\steamapps\common\Blade Runner Enhanced Edition\bik

Bro, the new Blade Runner Menu.bik is not working with my game. I already add the file but still appearing the same old menu. What should i do?

I believe it can be changed too, but I didn't search for anything better yet.
