In the forest and mold biome, which require you to beat the 3 overworld bosses Glurch (slime), Ghorm (giant worm that circles the map), and Hive Mother (nest for the larva hive). Then in the forest/mold biome you will see red ore in the walls. Put that in a smelter kiln and you will have a scarlet bar

I mean, if one just wanted a text statement of these things, the wiki presents it arguably better, with direct links to the mobs/NPC, etc. E.g. for copper: https://corekeeper.wikizet.com/en/Copper_Ore
